Tony Bradley declaring for the draft and may hire an agent...

Correct. And when he came in the Bradleys knew that and were fine with it. Unfortunately that changed.
Let's just hope don't do give bad press to the media then. Last we need is a OAD player saying coach hold him back to the media.

The paperwork has to be filed by 11:59 tonight. Why on earth would we drag this into Monday morning and let speculation and wild rumors go rampant?

I won't miss a minute of sleep worrying about it, either way. I think he's making a pretty significant mistake, but he should do what he thinks is best. His life, his choice. We'll go to war with what we've got when the season starts, that's good enough for me.

I feel the same way.

Because the Basketball team's PR department (or whoever covers these things) probably aren't concerned with the thousands of fans stressing about this decision.

Well......
being reported by some that he may not hire an agent just yet. IF that is the case that is the best I could hope for at this point. There was never any doubt he would declare, but...
I'll just say that @GoNtheDistance was on to something when he mentioned ITT our staff's position on the matter. Let's hope that helps.

Yea Evan Daniels just tweeted he's testing the waters, but not hiring an agent right now. Best we could hope for really. I mean he said he was going to do this right after we won the ship. Good news is he can still return if he wants to!

Major sports networks saying he's entering without an agent. I hope he shows well at the workouts and gets an honest assessment of his current ability. I hope that he follows the recommendation/direction of the professionals, whatever that may be, not those close to him who obviously have an emotional stake in the process. Have to be able to separate the 2 in making this decision.

Doesn't mean they didn't enter, there's just no report of it yet being Sunday late. I'd also be surprised not to see Joel toss his name in the hat with no agent.

Soooo Bradley has entered NBA draft but won't hire an agent as of yet. This seems to put to rest any rumors he was not into being at UNC. Bradley's father came to a compromise it would seem. Coach told him enter the draft get feedback if you move into lottery go if not come back and become a lottery pick. At least that's what some I siders on another site are saying. I haven't gotten word from my trusted source so take it with a grain of salt

Lottery has no bearing. People need to stop getting their hopes up with this. If he is projected first round, he is leaving. That's guaranteed money.

Where in my post did I suggest get your hopes up. I was simply referring to what I read on another sites premium board. I am sorry if it insinuates that being a first rounder means Bradley is coming back. But it could do exactly that depending on how far down in the first round he is

the kid will be a first round pick in my opinion. the question will be does he see value in coming back to college for an additional year to display his ability that we've seen, as well as the ability that his dad speaks of, in hopes that it will earn him a spot in the lottery. first round money is guaranteed, however, there's a decent size drop off after the lottery. hard decision for the young man and his family, although a very good position to be in.

Ease back on the sensitivity. I wasn't referring to you specifically. Hence why I said "People". Your post just provided the opportunity.

Many are speculating that he is "coming back if he isn't lottery, so he can be a lottery pick next year". My point is, lottery or not makes no difference. If he is getting guaranteed money for being selected in the first, even if he is selected with the last pick in the first, he is going to go pro. There is too much for him to risk a return in that case.

The money isn't the first contract....it's the next. Time value of money is huge. I would take a marginal difference now for a faster path to a larger deal later (if it's financially and career oriented). He stays if he loves college life. He leaves if it's a financial decision/business decision.

I'm not sold he's a 1st rounder right now. Better hit that 5 to 10 foot jumper & free throws better than he did in the tournament if he wants to go 1st round.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Tony made some very nice improvements in his FT shooting this season. He's going to impress the NBA's evaluators enough that his stock will rise IMO.
I give us a 2.5% chance of him coming back.

Tony has a great example to draw from in how Justin Jackson handled his situation last year, and there's no question in my mind that he would benefit greatly from coming back next season and devoting himself to offseason workouts in the same fashion that Jackson did last year, but like others have mentioned, we don't know what his family's financial situation is, and that always seems to play a major factor in what a lot of kids ultimately decide to do?

If both Tony and Joel decide to return, Carolina will once again be a player for the National title in 2017/18' IMO, especially with all the experience gained from this past season's championship run.....Not to mention, all the incoming recruits will benefit greatly from going against college game experienced players in practice everyday, which would provide them with a smoother transition to the college game, and would benefit our program a lot moving forward..... I think that has been one of the big reasons that Kentucky and all their OAD talent has come up short with the one exception of when they won the title, and even then, I'm not convinced that they would have beaten Carolina with a healthy Kendall Marshall that season? ..I really believe that Bradley could develop into one of it not "the" top Post player in College next season, and could have a similar draft projection to what we now see with Justiin Jackson, but I will support his decision in either case, and I think all Carolina fans should as well....Ditto for Berry too as the depth of PGs leaving next year for the draft will likely not be as deep and talented as this year's group, which would also be a benefit for Berry who seems to be hindered by the size of his statue but not his heart because we all know Berry has the heart and determination of a Lion....

I will sleep fine with the decisions that either Bradley or Berry make because afterall we are, and will be the defending National Champions when the season begins later this year!

I can't imagine Bradley not displaying more potential than the likes of Swanigan or Lydon. I assume he'll get assurances that he goes in the 25-30 range. It's a risk but we know the potential he has and so do they.

Just to add on to this analysis, which I agree with, is that if he's a fringe first rounder and ends up going in the second then the team who drafts him has no added incentive to keep him around if he struggles. On a first round guaranteed contract, they've essentially already paid for the entire rookie deal. Sunk cost, so if he struggles its in their best interest to try to work with him. On a second rounder, if he struggles you can cut him and it doesn't cost you anything beyond what you signed him to for the year.

In other words, Tony could benefit from staying a year and potentially getting into the lottery. And Tony could benefit from staying a year and avoiding being a 2nd rounder. That said, if he gets anything close to a 1st round guarantee he should absolutely stay in the draft. That's his dream and he deserves it.

Correct, as I understand it... and that is also consistent with Roy's approach. In the end Roy will probably say all the PC things publicly, but I feel confident in saying he honestly doesn't think Tony is ready yet, and coming back would be for his own long-term good.
