UGa dismisses top 10 DE Chauncey Rivers caught smoking weed 3 times in 5 months. WTH is he doing smoking weed on the steps of the Athen's PD? Hell I knew guys in HS and college who smoked it every days for years and never got caught. I'm not talking testing positive ; He got busted 3 times.
Now that is indeed dumb. He probably is such a head that he has become like part of a Cheech and Chong movie- thinking only of getting high.

This last time he was caught smoking weed in a car parked in a handicap spot. You can't make this stuff up. I would love to hear/see an interview with this kid , it would have to be comedy Gold.

My guess is it would sound something like this...

Looks like your run of looking like you had any semblance of a clue about what you were posting about has come to an end.

I know plenty about UGA's roster. I attended UGA before attending Carolina. I'm not a fan but I still follow their program (though not as close as I follow UNC's). I'm not saying UGA isn't talented, but I'm not ready to assume Eason will be better than Stafford.

Maybe doesn't turn out better than Stafford, Stafford wasn't a great qb as a frosh, he had almost a 2-1 INT to TD ratio as a frosh, Certainly he got better and he had a golden arm. His touch was never great on balls deeper than 30 yards, but inside 30 he felt no window was too small. Eason has that same arm, demeanor is different, he is more accurate on deep balls now that Stafford ever was at UGA. He may or may not start or even play in the opener. Chubb was on his way to a 1800 yard season until that pasture UT calls Neyland caught a cleat and tore his PCL. Pre injury he was best back in the country, he wasn't going to put up Fournette or Henry numbers because Michel was going to get his touches too. If UNC can stop the run without brining a S up to help in run support, UNC will very likely win, if they have to bring a S up then they very likely don't. UNC's offense won't see the ball much and will be facing the top pass defense in the country from 15.

Our weakness defensively is the DL, 3 true frosh will be in the 6 man rotation, LB will be at least good, 2OLB who are very long, athletic and fast, in the 6'5" 240 range, both have started multiple games because of injuries to the previous starters, Inside, one starter returns but has been passed by 2 others on depth chart, he was our 2nd leading tackler last year. All starters and everyone who took a snap in the secondary returns, and one starter there has been passed. Will we be better, who knows, Pruitt was an excellent DC and great DB coach, but excitement level is off the chart. IF UGA gets up early, it will be tough in the Dome for them to comeback, if we get down early it might be half empty by the 3rd.

I watched UNC play last year a few times, they were a good team last year and will be a good one this year. We underachieved again and the people with the power to make things happened were tired of it and Richt is now our former coach. Winning 10 games this year for us isn't likely, we have UNC, UT, and OM alone with a team who has had our number even when we were better UF. We could lose all 4, or win all 4, but most likely some kind of split and I don't know which games will go which way.

. Maybe it was a misquote when I mentioned he, because no male athletes at UNC cheated by taking bogus classes right, it was just those dang girls.
LOL. I don't get into the academic dick-measuring contests of "my school is HARDER than your school," but if I DID get into such a contest with you, you'd get embarrassed. If you're a UGA alum and you're older than ~35, please keep in mind that UGA was stupid easy to get into when you were there. Also keep in mind that there are only two reasons why UGA is hard to get into these days:

1. Delta chose Atlanta, and not Birmingham, as the spot for its mega airport. Fast forward in time, Atlanta eventually exploded into an international city by the late 80's (then further aided by the Olympics in '96), and as such, that has spilled into metro Atlanta and beyond, into a lot of North Georgia. The children of all these new Atlantans and Georgians needed an in-state school to go to.....hello UGA.
2. The state government passed the HOPE Scholarship in the very early 90s. Now everyone wants to stay in state because it's such a good deal. The very, very intelligent offspring of the aforementioned new Atlantans -- who would otherwise go to Harvard or Yale or Virginia or MIT or USC -- choose to go to UGA instead. After year after year of this, UGA is slowly but surely able to raise its entrance requirements each year. Now it is where it is today and you have to be pretty damn smart to get accepted.

So there you go. The intelligence level of your average alum from '80 compared to that of your average alum from '2016 is night and day. Contest over. Have a nice day.

Sorry , there were no bogus classes. The girls had work performed for them by tutors. So now you tell us how the SEC is able to keep some of the gems they recruit academically eligible? Question 2 did the Count catfish you too?

No where did I say UGA's athletics were better than UNC's, Yes I am both, and I realize with my GPA and test score admittance would laugh their asses off if I sent mine in.

But you are wrong about why its harder to get in to UGA now than back in my day. Has nothing to do with the Olympics, Atlanta has been growing at an amazing pace for 50 years. Delta is one company, how many employees could they possibly have in Georgia. Its all related to the Georgia Lottery, any study you read tells you that. The lottery and introduction to the Hope scholarship that pays tuition and books to any state university made it possible for kids with no chance to previously attend college able to go. Applications tripled the year the lottery went into effect which made getting accepted as a freshman difficult

Grumpy...first and last warning; You don't have the slightest inkling of what you are talking about so just don't. You've been a decent guest but this community has had it's fill of visitors that think they're informed offering up regurgitated bullshit and snide remarks. Stick to football or don't post.

You obviously didn't read my entire post. The HOPE Scholarship that I talked about in detail is paid for by the Georgia Lottery. I didn't put that in there because I assumed you knew that. It's basically gone in this order.

1. Delta helps make Atlanta a growing, prosperous city in an otherwise barren wasteland (economically speaking) know as the South in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s.
2. HOPE Scholarship (again, funded by Georgia Lottery) starting in the very early 90s.....provides benefits to the more white collar folks starting to move into Atlanta.
3. Olympics accelerated Atlanta's growth into an international city; gives the city "respect" from Northerners....i.e. they see it as a place they can move to and not, in their minds, be subject to Deliverance like they think of when they think of other Southern metros like Birmingham, Chattanooga, etc. HOPE Scholarship sends the smart offspring of these transplants to UGA rather than them going to Yale/Duke/UCLA/et al.

Jeez, tough crowd when getting investigated for something means you're guilty of it - and getting cleared doesn't change that.

hey Grumpy, be a nice dawgy and start a different thread if you are seeking truth/facts/opinion regarding the AFAM dept's scandal.

Back to this thread, ESPN says:
When identifying the biggest X factor in the SEC, you could simply say "Georgia" and be done with it. With a new coaching staff, a deep well of talent and a relatively easy road in the East, the Bulldogs have a chance to shake up the conference. But to be more specific, there are two X factors to consider:Jacob Eason and Nick Chubb. We'll start with Chubb. Before Leonard Fournettecame along and Chubb went down with a knee injury against Tennessee, Chubb was the best back in the league. If he can get anywhere close to 100 percent, he and fellow running back Sony Michel could form the most dynamic backfield in college football. If they do, Eason's role could get interesting. Georgia fans speak of Eason as a savior, a program-changing quarterback. He has a huge arm and a clear moxie about him. But he's a true freshman and true freshmen don't win championships. (See: Josh Rosen, Aaron Murray, etc.) If Eason can buck that historical trend and Chubb is healthy, the Bulldogs could have an offense capable of carrying them to Atlanta.

Your post is very condescending. You imply that the only smart people in Atlanta and the South are transplants and couldn't possibly be real southerners. The last thing we give a flying Philly Freak about is respect from northerners. You need to take your "respect" and shove it. By the way "You SUCK as a poster".

I find your post condescending. Considering that's where all the money is, you may want to care more about what Northerners think.

UGA's base of students comes from the Atlanta suburbs. Go tour the Atlanta suburb subdivisions and find out where families are from. They're not from the South. So many folks in metro Atlanta are from the Midwest or Northeast and are very wealthy. Yes, some families are from Georgia and some are from other parts of the South. But at the same time, a lot aren't.

These high schools in Cobb, Fulton, Dekalb, Cherokee Counties send a ton of high schoolers to UGA every year. Atlanta is a transient city. It's what Charlotte is becoming. Lots of people who live here are not "from" Atlanta or don't have family roots in Atlanta or Georgia. Look at me. Both of my parents are from North Carolina and both of their families have been in North Carolina since the early 1700s or before. Yet my parents re-located to Atlanta for work and I grew up there. My story repeats itself over and over, except its with families from the North.

It just is what it is. Students who could go to Duke go to UGA because UGA is such a good value for even the smartest of the smart. And UGA has evolved drastically as a university to the extent that they can offer facilities and research opportunities good enough to meet the needs of these ultra smart kids. I'm not saying Northerners are smarter than Southerners. I'm merely saying that Atlanta is chock full of Northerners. By the way, I've made it pretty clear with my poasts that I have strong disdain for yankees.

I mean, am I way off base here @tarheel0910 ? There are A LOT of transplants in Atlanta.

You're not off base. Atlanta is definitely full of transplants. I've seen a lot of studies that show Atlanta is consistently one of the largest transplant cities in the US. My kids are the first generation in my family that was born outside of NC. A lot of the people I work with or come into contact with are from different states. Especially compared to my experience growing up in NC. This also explains the general apathy for Atlanta sports teams. No one has that personal connection.

See? I'm not pulling this out of thin air. And your kids are what I am to my family.

And as to the underlined, BINGO. The Braves have success because they have a regional fanbase (the South). That's why they do so much better on weekend series, especially ones near holidays. The regional fans can make the trip into town from Alabama or South Georgia or wherever.

The Braves were the first MLB team in the true South, and that meant they became the team for the entire. I grew up in TN, and it was common in East and Middle TN for Little Leagues to make a trip to Atlanta every summer.

Yeah it's an amusing irony (not amusing to the Braves' coffers, though) that you've got millions of fans throughout the South, yet the sport is an every-day sport so you can't get those folks to buy tickets to games.

This is why football is king. It's (usually) only on weekends and there's a very small number of games so the demand is so much bigger than the supply.

This is an ignorant statement. There is a plenty of old money in the South. Who do you think funded dook and wake? I am not arguing that Atlanta and Charlotte are not transient cities but many of those transients are also from other southern states along with the yankee transplants.

My overall point is without this transience in Atlanta (whether it's from Ohio, California, Kentucky, or Oregon), UGA would not nearly be the school it is today. The transience dovetailed with the HOPE Scholarship has significantly aided UGA's rapid growth as an academic institution.

But either way, I don't give a crap. If I had it my way, UNC would relax its academic stance a bit and alter its mission a bit. Academics are important but they're not everything.

The hardest thing to find in Atlanta is someone from Atlanta. I spent 12 years there and met maybe a handful of folks actually from there. Most were from some state north of the Mason-Dixon line.

I guess guys with Miami Steve/Silvio avatars don't meet a lot of people from below the M-D line.

You have to understand, if you've never spent time in this town, Athens is like the Wild West but dressed like a Belk catalog. I've seen stuff happen there that blows my mind.

Perfect description. He wouldn't have been the first person I've seen smoking weed on the steps of the police department there.

Not smart riding ATV's as a major college football running back. Would have been smarter taking bong hits in gas mask.
