Request for Hubert

I would respectfully request that Hubert face the media to explain what happened this season in general and how the decision was made not to compete in the NIT. I believe the donors and supporters of Carolina deserve to know what went down. If a player feels uncomfortable letting the fan base know what their vote was then I don’t want them on a team playing for a University I’ve given so much to. Hubert please come out and honestly tell us what transpired.

Hey, basketball-onlys and basketball-firsters

Welcome to the world of UNC football fans. Ours is a world in which watching the school kick aside great potential is annual. Mediocre coaches are tolerated. And alum who happens to have been beloved by those in charge of the sport? If he's incompetent totally he still will be backed. Family apparently means that standards are not applicable to family members the power boys like.

And you will see an increasing of posters whose own frustrations with leadership will turn on you as they somehow conclude that your rioting things that they also usually are able to see means somehow that the situation would be better if only you and others would stop talking about missed opportunitirtes, stop analyzing how and why decisions were bad, etc.. You will be nudged and perhaps even slammed toward accepting mediocrity all the time.

The great difference will be that while we always have been told that we should just be happy with UNC basketball, because at least the school has that tradition of major winning, you will not have a major sport they can point to for your cheering on a UNC winner as they tell you to just accept basketball mediocrity.

Ole freaking Miss with less basketball history than Clemson has hired Chris Beard while UNC basketball is what we see.

Of course, none of that has to be. This is only Davis' second year as HC. They might not keep him a Bunting-full 6 years. He might be followed by. guy who revives everything and is the next Dean or Roy or Frank McGuire. Even the first two never had an undefeated NCAA Champ. And I doubt that either could have gone to SoCar and built from less than nothing what McGuire had by 1970.

Who are the biggest rivals?

Since 2014, we—the students and professors of the Know Rivalry Project—have been answering this question for professional sports with the help of message board members. Now we are expanding our research to the ACC. Please help us ensure that UNC is included by taking 9 minutes to complete our updated survey:

Our previous results have been featured in numerous sports media outlets, as well as the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. You can view those results, links to media coverage, and learn more about us at our KnowRivalry.com website.

We use the Qualtrics online survey software for data collection. This academic research has been approved by two universities' Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and it poses no risks to respondents. You'll find more information on the disclosure agreement that is required to start the survey. Thank you for helping us to include UNC by participating and please share this with any other fans that may also help.

Styles says Hubert made the decision not to play in the NIT

Says he would've wanted to play, and is still considering his future for next year

USA Today article says three players fathers said the players DID INDEED VOTE not to go

Just saw this article on Facebook and the USA Today story clearly indicated that Dunn’s, Love’s and Johnson’s fathers ALL SAID that the team did indeed VOTE not to play in the NIT. They also agreed that it might have been good for the team to have accepted the invite.

So now there is another twist of who said what or could it had been someone taking something out of context…
