oh I agree but they did really suck this yr it really did feel awkward, and disjointed

Don't jump the shark, no one is saying or even implying that. There are a lot of people who simply feel we could do a lot better in selecting a MC. A few I would like to see who I believe would accept the gig:
Theo Pinson
Rasheed Wallace
Jerry Stackhouse
Brad Daugherty
Vince Carter
Harrison Barnes
It would be pretty easy to get someone like Theo Pinson, Joel James, Rasheed Wallace or Vince Carter to host LNWR and I guarantee it would be better. I mean, the whole night is a celebration for the start of basketball season so it seems pretty logical that you’d use a past UNC basketball player to MC the event.

Theo is probably more concerned with playing professional basketball right now.
I'm sure he would after his playing days are over. Hopefully that will be many years from now.
He has plenty of time to fit this into his schedule. How about Big Joel? My point is that we can do better.
This is a pretty busy time for professional basketball players. I doubt he has the time to devote a few days to LNWR. I wish we had the son of a professional TV personality on the team. That players father would be a solid choice.
You know Kenny hosted two years ago right? And people keep mentioning Sheed, but according to TOS he has no interest in hosting. Does not want any spotlight.
They picked a newscaster and former UNC athlete who was in the spotlight recently due to the World Cup. Were they great? Nah. But for a glorified pep rally the choices are fine, and honestly they are so irrelevant to our recruiting it’s ridiculous to even bring up the connection.
I saw Louisville Live and Big Blue Madness on ESPN3. Our execution was much better than either of them. Also Louisville Live had no scrimmage at all and UK played for 5 minutes running clock with most of the guys not even pretending to guard. We aren’t losing recruits because of Late Night.

Yeah, I know Kenny did it a couple of years ago. I agree with pretty much everything you said. The discussion about late night started going downhill last time, so I'm just going to bow out now.
It is UNC, after all. Political correctness is what they do.
Of course there were better hosts available, I just don’t see how it matters all that much.
It matters only to the extent that we should try to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for as many people as possible. I don’t think that’s asking too much, especially since we have so many options from which to choose.

Kinda like ELVIS used to or DION or even Madonna.

And back to the topic, recruiting, seems our guys at usa basketball camp are tearing it up, Caleb and Day'Ron, Caleb best guard by all measures and Day'Ron "too tough to handle" at this level.

Yes. The hosts sucked! Yes. We have better and I hope we do use them! No. It will not impact recruiting because the guys see the team having fun and get to spend a great deal of time with them outside of LNWR. K. Smith, Theo, and JJames would be a great combo! Bring the whole NBA team with KS and it goes over the top!
Of the remaining UNC targets, Caleb says Ziaire is most likely to commit. Clint says Bryce.
we were actually in with Cade then big blue madness happened... make of that what you will, but I heard zaire almost committed at late nite we will see what comes of it
Losing a recruit to Kentucky does not mean there was nefarious reasons. Just like when we get a big time kid, and other fan bases cry foul, it's weak to cry foul. I'm a life long UNC die hard, but we are not the only "good" choice for every phenom we offer.

I never said it did; infact I said make of that what you will; personally I think it means that Cade leans to the school he last visited. In other words he loves all the official visits
I wasn't referring to you, just buggs me in general that every fan base has a percentage that gets jilted lover syndrome and instantly goes to "what was wrong" with whoever they were courting when they choose another. Would love Cade, if he chooses UK or whoever, so be it.

As I have said before in other posts, I would love Caleb to be correct on his opinion on ZW but we never know, apparently the recruits do follow each other a bit, as some of these players have stated they would like to play together.

Not to jump too far ahead, '20 class, but lots to like in the reporting on our next group of Tar Heels out at USA Mini camp, seems Caleb and Day'Ron are head and shoulders above most of the others. With Walker and a couple of friends on that team, Wow.

I hesitate to reenter the LNWR conversation, but I'm just now seeing these posts. As a parent of a young adult, I wouldn't be surprised, if Kenny wants KJ's time at UNC to be about him as an individual, rather than it being about him being Kenny Smith's son. Kenny may be more willing to host LNWR, when he isn't taking the spotlight away from his son.
As far as hosts, I'd like to see Theo & Marcus.
