A couple thoughts:
I have said it before and I'll say it again, kudos to Roy and the staff for getting on Day'Ron like they did early. He has continued to rise and rise since committing and has so many of the national scouts very high on his game and character. Color me excited for that post rotation in 20-21 with Brooks, Bacot, Sharpe and Manley. Keep working Day'Ron!
What a jump from Bryce Thompson, as he went up 70 spots from the last ranking and is now inside the top 20. I read that he is planning on visiting sometime soon (maybe after the NBPA Camp in VA) and really hope that he can come away with a great visit as he has talked about not only wanting to get to the next level, but also wanting to enjoy his college experience and establish great relationships, all of which we can offer for him. I think that Steve Robinson's relationship with his dad will be a huge plus for us here.
Zaire Williams is a kid I would really love to get and could see being successful in our system. From watching bits of his games during the Spring Eval Period you can see his game translating to the next level, he is extremely versatile and has a nice stroke with the ability to score it at a high level at all three levels. I also saw in him, some more of an ability to distribute and find those around him which is something that I think would translate very well to the way we play and allow him to get to the rim even more as defenses will need to be concise of his passing ability too. He has impressed many scouts with his increased aggressiveness and confidence this year, which all bodes well for him leading into college. Adding an instant impact wing like is a big need for the 2020 which will lose Cole, Keeling, B-Rob and Pierce; and Zaire fits that mold perfectly to fill in out on the wing.
A recruitment I want to continue to keep my eye on is Cade Cunningham's, he is a different breed and would be an amazing haul to have him at 6'6 slotted at the PG position for 2020 with his playmaking abilities. He lit up the gym at Geico Nationals and has really elevated his game to another level, getting it done on both ends of the floor. Roy has said to him that he sees him as a PG and wants him to come in and be the next Cousy Winner. That would certainly be quite a 3 year succession from Coby to Cole to Cade and one that I would take with open arms.
