Afgan withdraw

Yeah he's just trolling or so ate up with it he's stupid. I'll let folks here make up their own mind. That said, @uncboy10 and I agree on almost nothing except football, so I know this is not a partisan thing here. There is a right way and a wrong way to handle these things. Biden went about it the wrong way. And he did so unilaterally.
it's neither. He's so damn arrogant that he thinks he can heap on the same bullshit over and over and eventually, we'll all come to believe that it WAS all about leaving or staying, and not the way that leaving was undertaken. I promise you his spin machine will outlast Biden's and CNN's and even Jill's. I'm stubborn as hell in my convictions, but I will admit being wrong when I am and try to preserve some credibility. This guy's DNA doesn't give him that kind of gumption.

@UNC '92 Next time, please find an article from someone that has better credentials than @blazers. Of course that's assuming you can find someone with more knowledge about war/intel/geopolitics than a random message board poster.
I'm just citing things directly from the report which was the basis of that opinion piece. Same report.

Anybody know how many Afghans are coming to the US vs going to other countries? It's pop is approx 38 million, so no doubt there are a ton of Afghans that want to leave. And lots clearly have been leaving.

Or does anybody know how many we hope/can to take?

Those numbers are not nearly as bad as the numbers of illegals crossing the border.

numbers sound fudged

Suicide bombing at Kabul airport in the last 24 hours. Many Afghans dead including an infant. At least 3 US Marines injured.

So - this is going about as well as one would expect.....dealing with a bunch of 7th century backward cave-dwelling terrorists.

Exactly the type of people of character, humanity, integrity that US should have to come to, groveling and begging to let Americans and Afghans out safely.

It is nearly impossible to overstate what a colossal (unnecessary in how it was "planned" ??? and executed) fkup this withdrawal has been by Joe, The Hoe, and the top military and Sec of State.

Worse that Carter / Iran....worst in my lifetime for any country in the world, I believe

ETA: day by day, I still think more and more its a good bet Joe doesn't make it end of 2022 as POTUS, maybe not to end of 2021. Name one person in political office or in media who wants to be connected to him and how he is handling Afghanistan, economy, southern border, etc. Instead, most are openly pushing him under the bus. His days are numbered. His support is super-weak even in his own party.

Maybe that has always been the plan / intent, even by the leftists who want someone like Kamala, who could never be elected by the people, to inherit the office and push for a more left leaning agenda.

Hard to plan when Intel sucks.

Any withdrawal was going to suck. Taliban was emboldened upon the Feb 2020 decision that we'd leave... Afghans began selling out.

It obviously could've been executed better, but a 20-yr failed occupation in a land of 7 century backward cave-dwellers isn't going to end smoothly no matter how much effort you put into planning.

The only way to prevent this stuff would've been to just stay and keep / surge troops there forever (meaning escalated war).

3 star general who was there during the final months has some interesting takes, he goes into detail on these three:

First, former President Donald Trump’s February 2020 peace deal with the Taliban in Doha doomed us. It put an expiration date on American interest in the region. Second, we lost contractor logistics and maintenance support critical to our combat operations. Third, the corruption endemic in Mr. Ghani’s government that flowed to senior military leadership and long crippled our forces on the ground irreparably hobbled us.

And for those that hate my opinion, it says "Biden ignored conditions on the ground".

IMO Biden's only option would've been to keep us there longer, with no actual guarantee that any eventual withdrawal would've been any less messy.

well, certainly you would want a guarantee where no guarantee is possible because otherwise you'd have to employ common sense, a commodity in very short supply in the Biden presidency.. I love how you apparently don't understand how transparent and weak your whiny justifications are.

I could definitely see this being the plan all along. Although I'm not sure exactly how left Kamala really is, but she certainly wouldn't have been able to win on her own. If they wanted to get someone very left that also had 0% chance of winning they would have shoehorned Bernie or Warren in there. I think by shoehorning Kamala they figure they can "play the hits" on the identity politics game to keep the establishment control.

This nightmare continues. And it's hard to believe, but it's still getting worse. Biden can't and shouldn't survive this - either literally or in his seat as POTUS.

I hadn't heard this yet. Holy sh-t! Armageddon foreign policy disaster.

To idiot clown @strummingram who laughs at saying this will take Biden down.... put your money where your mouth is. How much are you willing to bet Joe is still POTUS at end of 2022?

Exactly. In a pool of options who will never reach even mediocre level (Warren, Bernie, Kamala) - Kamala checked the most identity, woke, equity boxes.

13 and counting....sick....as a father of three....I just am almost sick to my stomach thinking about this loss for those families of US servicemen....

....and nobody anywhere in this administration....(all vile gutless coward corrupt pigs)....has been heard from at all, five hours and counting after the tragedy.

Outrageous! to US and the whole world. What a wakeup call regarding what people get when they vote for woke, America-hating, corrupt ciphers, husks as leaders.

He has used up his blame DT tokens. This withdraw thing has went longer than anticipated for them. With covid not dominating as top story, they have nowhere to turn, except on Biden.

You flatter me too much. I can't predict the future. I mean, it's possible he could die. That's true for anyone, however.

So ISIS and taliban are enemies? Taliban controls security at the airport perimeter? US soldiers in an area under taliban security? Seems pretty precarious

US fatalities by month and in total in Afghanistan for past five years. This is all US fatalities, not just KIA.

Don't sweat it. Joe's got this.
The sight of trailer trash getting hard ons over American servicemen getting killed protecting their sorry ass makes me sick. Any of you ever served your country or do you think only suckers serve, like your leader does? Of course you know more about how to do this than the generals on the ground who are getting it done.
