Coronavirus

The USA has handled covid-19 about as bad as you could possibly imagine handling it. We're obviously getting through it, but it could have been so much better. It's also not over yet. I never would have expected half a million people would be dead.

More than WW2 unfortunately. I think it's likely we'll get back to normal this year but we're going to have wait until at least spring/summer.

And these more virulent strains that are coming out, makes me think it'll go along for another year perhaps.

To be fair, we've kicked ass in vaccine development.

Nah, even these new strains can be combated with the vaccines, they're just not quite as effective in some studies. You combine that with herd immunity from people who've had it, we're still on track. Besides, the public at large won't comply with another year of masks and social distancing.

I don't think they will, either. It sucks not having live music and live... anything. People need to interact.

I do commend the way that the country has adjusted and managed to have some semblance of usual stuff- sports, for example. People always adapt. But, the number of deaths in the USA is horrible.

here’s something that baffles the sh*t out of me...the people that are arguing for f2f school, the ones that are anti-masks, the people that keep posting on social media about “longing for a sense of normalcy, are the same people that are still vacationing, still having gatherings, and still not following any recommended social distance guidelines.

from personal experience, these same people are people we hung out with for years every weekend, the kids played together, we ate dinner and partied together, our kids played team and individual sports together, and even vacationed together...it’s such a weird dynamic now also because we’re in the same n’hood.

I'm even more skeptical about mask working since being told that we should wear 2.
I don't get this part.

Did you ever filter aristocrat vodka once and taste it? Then filter that stuff a second time and taste it again? By 2nd or 3rd time the girls in Hinton James think the pre-game shots are grey goose.

Concepts of filtering shouldn't be hard to grasp.

These are the people that dismiss mask wearing based on being able to smell farts. Science isn’t their forte. Even if it’s at a 6th grade level.

i hear you but i think it's only weird if you make it weird. we're in the first paragraph (and our kids have been f2f school all year, no problems) ... we're still reaching out to our covid-scared friends via text, Facetime, Zoom, however they will allow. our kids email each other, write hand written notes and talk on the phone sometimes. it would be easy to let the differences in covid opinions come between us and get weird but we refuse to let that happen.

what's super bizarre are the folks we know who will not go to church, into the grocery store, send their kids to school, etc .. but they have flown to Orlando to Disney and/or gone to Great Wolf Lodge. i guess we all have lines we're willing to cross with this thing.

what a punk. i was simply stating my experience with Covid.

I love how common sense is so common when it applies in the manner of your way of thinking but in other ways we ignore it.

Like basketball players sit spaced on a bench with a mask on then take the mask off to get close to one another and play.

Like we can only have 1 caption from each team for a coin toss in a football game but then send 22 people on the field to tackle each other.

Or how you have to stay 6 feet apart with your while in the airport, and but then squeeze into a metal tube and sit elbow to elbow to fly.

I could go on and on but I think you get the point!

After being told so many lies you start to not believe anything they tell you about this mess.

WBTV has a story today about a 9 year old and it says he died from Covid complications in the headline. But if you read the story it says he had asthma, and earlier in the day he was running and playing and after that he told his mom he couldn't breath she got to him his lips were turning blue they took him to the hospital and his lungs were filled with fluid and he died. The doctors told them he died of Covid. No one knew he had covid till he was tested after death. He didn't die of Covid he died from a asthma attack. Why the dishonest reporting? Why label the story to scare?

it's been the same BS for 10 months. the sheeple will continue to follow the rules and suck at the tit of the government, living scared of a virus that has next to zero chance of killing them while life passes them by. it's crazy how many educated, successful people have completely lost their ability to think on their own and understand hard and fast data.

regarding the media, they're doing what they've always done: if it bleeds, it leads. for example, positive cases in the US were down 21% last week, did you see that headline??

You complain about being lied to and a lack of common sense then you turn around and lie and defy common sense in doing so.

Airlines block seats off for social distancing. There is no “elbow to elbow” seating. You lied.

according to wbtv The kids parents were NOT told he died from covid. So You lied again. Nor did he die from an asthma attack. So you lied again. According to the health professionals that were..... you know .....ACTUALLY PRESENT.....He died of heart failure related to having covid. Hence his parents were told that he died of
Complications from having covid. Anyone with that “commons sense” you’re complaining about not being around would understand the world of difference between the two. But if you’re smarter and more knowledgeable of his case than the medical professionals that actually took care of him then by all means share your data and how you arrived at your diagnosis.

I'm not saying media doesn't engage in sensationalism, in fact pretty much every outlet does that. But people who are scared of covid and have ample reason to be for health reasons are not being 'sheeple sucking the tit of the government.'

This is a really tricky, nasty virus. We're still learning about it. And while I personally believe we need to wrap up the masks and social distancing by summer for numerous reasons and that there are other considerations, covid is not an invention or something to sniff at.

Delta is the only airline not selling middle seats now. So there is elbow to elbow seating I flew a week ago I would know that I didn't know the guy sharing the arm rest with me.

The news story does say 100% he died from complications from Covid, but when they details the happenings they described a asthma attack resulting in death. I know what asthma attacks are like my wife and my child are asthmatic and pretty severe.

You don't have to agree or like what I said but to call someone a liar, about seating on an airplane when it's true. Is just stupid, and pretty much a dick move! But it is what it is!

What did I lie about? Where was the lie?

You said that me saying the Airlines are no social distancing on flights and you said that was a lie. Its the truth why would you call it a lie? Did you not know and spoke out of turn? Or did you just hope that everyone would agree and also not know?

You said airlines were seating people elbow to elbow. That’s a lie. You admit yourself delta is blocking middle seats. You said the doctors told the kids parents he died from covid. That’s a lie. You said the kid died from an asthma attack. That’s a lie. You want to criticize the media for promoting fear that’s fine. You want to criticize health orgs for counting covid related deaths as covid deaths that’s fair. No need to lie.

No I said delta is the ONLY one blocking middle seats. You are retarded or just can't read. Is delta the only company that flies people places?

The article said the kid died from Covid complications, but they explained an asthma death!

I'm not sure why you have such an issue with me you are just calling me a lier and nothing I said was a lie!

I didn’t call it covid. The news didn’t call it covid. Quit lying. The health professionals taking care of him said he died from heart failure as a complication of covid. The news reported that accurately.

Here is that what it said

Doctors told the family J.J. died from complications related to COVID-19. Before he was hospitalized, no one knew the 9-year-old had the virus.

“Complications related to covid” That’s not the same as “covid”. Common sense. And that’s not “asthma attack”.

Yes it is that is 100% what an asthma attack is. To a tee!

My original post said they said he died from Covid complications, i say its a asthma attack. That's not a lie that based on the story supplied by the news!

So where was the lie at and what was the lie in the part about flying?

“He didn't die of Covid he died from a asthma attack.”
No he didnt according to the doctors

“Or how you have to stay 6 feet apart with your while in the airport, and but then squeeze into a metal tube and sit elbow to elbow to fly.”
No you don’t according to delta

Dude Delta is one of the only airlines that isn't selling the middle seat. Why is this hard for you? Other airlines are selling the middle seat. Is Delta the only airline people fly on?

Of course not. Why is this hard for you? You don’t have to be seated elbow to elbow to fly do you? Well? Do you? You said you did. But you don’t. But if your defense of lying is that it’s only a lie for certain airlines then okay fine. You can have that.

Seems like potential bad news, but maybe vaccines can be tweaked or boosters done by the time they're needed. Or maybe the evasion part of their evidence is preliminary and won't bare out later.

Nature keeps finding a way to kill us. Maybe there’s a message there.
Americans are mostly fat people who are in shitty health. Nature doesn't need to bring its A game in order to impact this country. It amazes me how huge people have become. I've never understood obesity. No one ever got fat overnight, or when they weren't expecting it.
