i know one thing, if you have the qualifications and SOME experience you can get a very well paying job in my wife's group right now (drug development/testing/implementation, data collection/management, etc etc) - they cannot fill the open positions nearly fast enough.

I really appreciate the link for purposes of reading things and deciding for myself. However, I also have no desire to give CNN (or anyone else for that matter) undeserved clicks, etc., so a brief explanation is always appreciated as well. Then, one can decide to read it and give the click or not. As it stands, I'll never know what they are even saying.
summary: as the smart, non-emotionally-driven people in the drug development world have been saying for months, it is not feasible to booster the entire planet 2 or 3 times a year. the boosters will eventually be available only for the at-high-risk population ... everyone else will have to lean on (gassssssssp) natural immunity.

Humans have turned "News" into another form of organized religion! The planet has got to be thinking seriously about terminating our contract!

Thanks. That raises an issue that I have yet to see a simple explanation about (or maybe it's just me). Why do we need to be boosted at all? Why isn't this "protection" lasting? Shouldn't they just focus on developing an actual vaccine that they have for other things that will last a lifetime? Is the plan to just boost for variants as things develop? Is it because this is a virus?

Hopefully some of the more health educated people can help me out on understanding all of this. I feel like I am missing something basic and being really brain dead today.

I appreciate the information. However, I have no need or desire to make your life (or anyone's life) easier by giving someone a book report because they don't like the source. You can always ask a friend or google the text, assuming you are ok with using google.

Same reason there are vaccine boosters for many other diseases which prevent problems.

Wow. Are you projecting or something? I have never said, intimated, implied, or expressed an interest in anything about your or anyone else's orientation/preferences. That was uncalled for and shows your ignorance about where I stand because of the assumptions you make based upon elementary shoe boxing of issues. The fact that I don't want to financially support certain media or other organizations (or waste my time) doesn't warrant such an attack. This is no different from Dan Kane that constantly pushed out stuff to trash the fb program and support State during the "scandal" and black cloud period. The last thing I wanted was to give that guy hits because someone blindly linked an article.

Well, that was helpful - not (and shows a complete lack of contributing useful information). Tell me one other vaccine booster that I have ever had to get every five months??????? I'll be waiting.

And don't bark about the annual flu shot. That's a best guess of the three or four strains that have been hitting the southern hemisphere every year prior to our season. It's not the same as the questions I asked. If you knew as much about medical/health issues as you like to present yourself as knowing, you would have made the distinctions.

Thanks for the informative response. It took you longer for that than what I originally asked for, a bit ironic.

There is a reason this is called a message board and not a link board. If you want to be lazy and not provide a sentence or two about something, that's fine and your choice. No one asked for a "book report" as I used the phrase "brief explanation" (Highlighted so you would read this far). But, I do seem to recall a post from you to another poster about not reading their post because it was too long or more than a paragraph or two. That makes me wonder if you even read the article you linked beyond the headline/sub-headline. Maybe I have you confused with someone else. I didn't attack or challenge your thoughts on anything and merely asked for some info as to what you had linked. In fact, that's the point. If one wants the thoughts of CNN/FOX/whoever, they can read their sites. If someone wants to read discussion or thoughts from others, they go to a message board. . . . but then, there has to be actual messages.

There's a lot of BS in your post and most of it comes from not understanding how OOTB works. You are relatively new here, so I'll give you a pass on it. As far as what the article is about, it's about corona. If you want to read it, read it. If you don't want to read it because it doesn't come with a synopsis, then don't. I doubt anyone here will adjust their posting to fit your needs.

Who gets flu shots? I mean, if you're an octogenarian, I get it. If you're a young or middle aged, relatively healthy person, there's no need for that.

Funny, unless this is an instance where you rejoined at a later point causing an error in dates, I've been a member of THI for over six years longer than you. So, thanks for calling me new, providing the tutorial, and giving me a pass on your rules just because I chose to read. I'm glad other posters have a different take from your perspective and that you're not in charge. All good, keep linking.

OOTB and THI are not the same thing. Stick around long enough and you'll figure it out.

Again, thanks for the sage advice. Keep doing you and I'll learn eventually. I apologize now for my future transgressions and promise to try to never ask you to violate your rules of OOTB ever again.

I missed it if it was in there, but I hope this was sarcasm.

Huh? You get an annual flu shot?

I do not. And I don't get the flu. I've had the flu. It sucked for a week. And then I was better. I assume it helped me build immunity and then I was less likely to get the flu afterwards.

I don't get flu shots either, but I will get a shingles shot. I don't want that crap.

did i read pfizer has a new one?
I did a quick google search for things you read and came up empty. So no, I guess you didn't

Har har, just kidding. I saw where they were going to try to develop one, but saw nothing indicating that they already had one. But someone has and I've been hounded to get it for like three years now. I will when I get around to it.

You know from previous posts/discussions that I fully support your choice to make the decision that's best for you. However, I take issue with the idea of blindly not getting a flu shot and really don't understand why there is so much widespread resistance to it.

Salk, of polio vaccine fame developed the first one in the 30's and it became widespread in the 40's, so it's been around a very long time - unlike many of the objections to the current vax debate. If you have one of the specific reasons not to do so like an egg allergy or problems with guillain barre (sp?), it makes sense to avoid it, but otherwise it is pretty universally considered very safe.

The downside to not taking it? An estimated 61,000 people die in the US each year from flu. Countless others get really ill and suffer needlessly. Even when the "experts" don't correctly predict all the strains, the shot still helps a person not get it and helps them get over it quicker if they do. Very little risk compared to the payoff, but again, your choice.

On the shingles front, it's a cousin of chicken pox, not the flu. You can and people do get it a second time and shingles sucks as you well know, particularly an outbreak on the face. Ask your doc next time you see her/him, it may help you to get the shot.

Your body, your choice.

Lol, raidar is not OOTB.

Out side of that, @tarheel0910 is good people. Usually a middle of the road kinda guy.
Trust me, there are some on here you can pile it on as much as you like. 😉

What can I say? I’m a gambling man. I like my chances.

I honestly dont think I’ve ever had the flu. I’m not claiming to be some bastion of healthy living. I’ve had my share of other maladies. But out of what I’m guessing is dumb luck I’ve never experienced it. Maybe it’s cause I spend a lot of time outdoors.

I've heard that people who spend a lot of time around tourists build up a natural flu immunity.
