NFL 2019-20

Speaking of the dolphins... holy crap do they suck! It looks like they have adopted the tanking model that NBA teams follow, but I dont see how it will be as successful in the NFL. Sure, they might finally snag a franchise qb but if the rest of the team is garbage it wont matter.

As much as i hate the bears it sucks seeing their fans turn on trubisky. Because of what they traded away to move up get him (when mahomes would have been avail) he was put in an impossible situation with sky high expectations. In all honesty i didnt understand him being rated so hi based on such a small body of work. He def looks like he will be a solid nfl starter but hes not the savior type talent the bears and fans were expecting and they’re gonna be rough on him cause of it.

Live look at Steelers nation.

yah - maybe not laughing so much after getting housed 33-3, without AB even suiting up for the Pats yet.

I for sure am not going to read too much into one week, (it is a pretty poor Giants team especially on defense and with Eli at the helm) but from what I've read and the few plays I saw, I like the things that Kellen Moore put in place and called. Seemed like all game there were guys so wide open it was almost impossible for Dak to miss them. To his credit, He did hit some really nice precision throws, too.

But - it means nothing unless they beat down teams they should beat like Washington and Miami - then we'll see how they fare against New Orleans who are very good.

@TarHeelMark I think this Vikings team may be worth following this year, too. They are very good on defense, and have great receivers. Cousins is only above average, but if they can rely on Cook being an elite back, Cousins won't matter as much. Cousins threw the ball only 10 times total yesterday. Wow. Some teams throw it more than that on one possession.

I wish the Eagles would have found a way to lose. Should have.

The funniest story of the day - to me anyway - is how bad the Browns got throttled at home by an average at best Titans team. They have the ingredients for a meltdown if things look bleak by midyear.

that was like a college game...and the ravens running a fake punt up 4 td’s is crazy...heard a story this morning that multiple dolphin players were messaging their agents to “get me the f outta here.”

Yeah, I'll always have a desire to see them do well. As you said, I don't think Cousins is all that great either - certainly not elite - but maybe if they keep it out of his hands as much as possible, they will be more successful. However... 10 pass attempts is crazy! That's 1970's Bob Griese level right there.

Browns were getting a ton of preseason hype but if they start out slow, you're right... those dudes will implode.

I heard one talking head say that they should've hired a coach with experience rather than a first timer since the team is young, and has some strong personalities to deal with.

Patriots will win it all... again.

The NFL is boring AF. Same movie every season.

At least the NFL is a level playing field, and actually has a skewed bias against teams that continually win (by having more difficult schedules the following year, picking later in the draft, etc.). The Patriots just happen to better navigate the landscape even when the league rules are stacked against perpetual winners.

Clemson and Alabama make CFB the same movie every season. Except they have every advantage possible to perpetuate that outcome and not let up-and-comers challenge their dominance (poll bias, athletic budgets, etc.).

Yeah... The Patriots have only been in 6 of the last 10 Super Bowls, and 10 of the last 20. It's been pretty diverse.

I will concede that Alabama has been dominant on CFB. Clemson has been for the last 5 years or so. But, Alabama has been dominant for the last 80 years.

I'm sick of the fvcking patriots.

ETA: And, watching Alabama and Clemson win every game, all the time, by 50 points, is boring AF, too. Unless you're a fan of those teams, it gets old.

I wish people were sick of FSU again. It would mean FSU was winning.

Maybe they will get back there. But, it's for absolute certain that they had their time of total dominance. FSU even got an extension, of sorts, when Fisher kept them in contention and got them another championship. They can suck hind tit for a while. That incessant, annoying chop-chant can go silent for a decade or so, as far as I'm concerned.

You don't think they earned that last championship? They went undefeated and blew out everyone except for GA Tech and the SEC champ, Auburn. Remember that when Jimbo took over FSU was pretty much a dumpster fire. Not as bad as he left the program obviously, but there were a lot of 8-4 and 7-5 records for a while.

I never said, or even implied, that they didn't deserve it. What I was saying is that, after a multi-decade, dominant, dynasty coach like Bobby Bowden, teams can easily find themselves in a very different situation. Jimbo Fisher kept the trains running on-time, for the most part. He was 83-23 at FSU. Now? They're going to be swimming with the bottom-dwellers for a while.

BTW... I thought Jimbo Fisher was a helluva lot older than 53!

Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham are two of many reasons why I prefer college football over the NFL

Totally agree. I won't even watch a bama game, and usually not many Clemson games because I don't give a shit about either team. I've barely watched any of the CFB playoffs since they started since it's those two plus two more coming from the same group of teams that I likewise don't really care about (UGA, Oklahoma, ****ing osu, and an occasional interloper that gets handed their ass - like Notre dame ).

Look up Jimbo's record without Jameis.

imo, the issue the nfl and nba have is you can’t control tanking; on a play, a possession, or a game.

i still love watching every single team play...it’s because i love college football and follow the names as they go pro, it’s the best of the best...they do need to figure out the overtime...either college rule or just start kicking fg’s at the 25.

….hard for me to think of a guy who bothers me more than him. I think most rational people believe he is guilty of murder, and got off based on a glitch / technicality in the legal system. It happens, unfortunately...

but then for him to not show modesty, remorse, etc. and just stay mostly out of the national public eye (example: delete your social media accounts) and how he is so smug, giving advice and acting just like he's a regular popular past NFL player / celebrity.... is the height of arrogance. I just remembered - didn't he also get put in jail for breaking in and trying to steal some collectibles, like maybe his own Hiesman trophy?

I don't recall the details, but he is just a POS in human form, that angers me every time I see his face. He deserves some vigilante justice.
