As for the matchups - anyone who thinks the committee doesn't purposefully build regions to give some intriguing matchups is naive....
I agree, but matchups are extremely important in a single elimination tournament. When the committee tinkers with the seedings they deserve the criticism they receive because they are putting potholes in teams' paths to the Sweet 16, Final Four, and Championship.

Definitely, which is why I have no problem with UK/IU being a matchup in the 2nd round that can be hyped up. I have an issue with it because it's pretty obvious Kentucky should have been higher than a #4 seed, but was made a #4 to create that matchup, and most likely to create the matchup that should follow that one as well.

You guys are killing me today. You've left me all alone over there on radar pointing out the fact that there is no conspiracy against UNC about the brackets. I thought strum was going to back me up, but he cut bait and ran after one post. I expected better from you guys. :)
You shut your mouth and stop getting out of line over there!

Look man- if you need us to lay down some covering fire or provide artillery or armor, you need to warn us when you are about to go on the attack. The point of reconnaissance is not to engage but rather to assess strength and report back to HQ.

I almost stepped into the fray when I read dsouths post about those who jumped ship or complained earlier. Pisses me off that you say anything relevant or contrary or God forbid you say something critical of the program then you get crucified. Imagine if the heels did not turn it around and went out their first game of the tourney. If some had simply said, same old team or roy hasn't learned then it would have been on. But it's OK to still take jabs at those who are labeled naysayers or pessimist. Amazes me that with all the hot topics on this board, everyone of us has united on the basketball front. Grayhead salutes u

I'm just now seeing this . . had a funeral to attend this AM and haven't really been able to keep up on the board.

LOL . . . none of what he wrote is true. I do know he has said some rather not nice things about me, but hey, I don't get upset about anything posted on a dayum message board.

That board has always been like that. You should have seen JV Allstar go ballistic when I dared to call for Matt Doherty's head when we lost to Maryland by 40.

But see, that's exactly the point. Posters criticized the team because they were performing well below what we knew they were capable of. Coaching, effort, whatever the reason. By dominating ND and then outplaying Virginia, we're finally seeing the team everyone expected. That only proves the earlier criticisms valid. Why is that so friggin' hard to understand?

For what it's worth, I was flipping through XM sports radio on a long drive Sunday and heard an analyst say he didn't think the Heels would win the NCAAs because, despite their obvious talent, they can't "bring it" for six straight games. It's a perfectly valid observation/complaint, but you know how it goes over there.

and that point that the analyst made has been made for the last couple of years, at least since 2009...like you said, whether it's a reflection on coaching, system, or players, it's still the concern...a perfect example is michigan st....they always start out slow, but by march they are always a team that no analyst ever challenges their core, their philosophy, or their attitude...it's about consistency, something carolina has lacked until just the last 10 days.

justin jackson is really gonna have to be huge on both ends for the next three weeks.

I've been away all day. I'll go check it out in a little while. I posted at some point on that thread, though don't remember whether it was early this morning or last night. It's a tough draw but those teams should be worried about UNC more than anything. The conspiracy stuff is pretty ridiculous.

There are a fair amount of poasters on Radar who actually think that they are part of the team.

By that I mean that they understand they are fans (well, most of them), but they believe that the team, when taken as a whole, includes the players, coaches, school (school taken to mean just the Old Well and DES Center) and fans. And that fans have a responsibility to guard the team from public dissent amd criticism, especially from other, lesser UNC fans.

As a theoretical sociological experiment, it could be a fascinating research project. For practical matters though, they are a bunch of twits.

I actually have no problem with this. My problem is that some of them won't allow the discussion to take place. I disagree with almost everything uncboy says on the political threads, but I don't try to silence him and tell him to shut up. I let him speak his mind and debate him on the facts. Unfortunately, some of the people over there don't understand the difference between fact and opinion.

Fortunately, THIS never came to pass. Stupid poast by this jackleg.
GMAFB!

As soon as I saw this meme I turned to my friend and said, "Mark my words, Brice will be tough mentally and we will run the table in the ACC tourney, get the 1st seed in the East and have Xavier, WVU and Kentucky all in our bracket." Looks like I was right again.

So much conversation over there about getting hosed in the tourney. We may have the toughest on paper. But these guys have performed the last three games proving they can beat anyone. Stringing 6 games in a row is tough for any team especially from the sweet sixteen on. I guess if the team were to drop out of the tourney then that would be the given excuse.
To me, I really feel we can beat anyone any day any time if they are focused. If not, then anyone can beat us. Barring an injury, focus on the end prize will be what wims, not which team is before us. I fully expected UVA to beat us. They are a good team and we don't match well with their style. But they focused on what it would take to win and they did it. That proved to me they can beat anyone.

They are only focused on this because in a year where UNC and dook split games, and neither win the tourney, it then becomes a game of how far did you advance. Heck, even the fan base opposite the winner of the ACC tourney throws those wins out as meaningless since everyone knows how unimportant it is to win the ACC tourney. K is resting his guys for the real tournament is the excuse this year. The only prize is head-to-head and the NCAA tournament. It's absurd, but it's true.

@Hark_The_Sound_2010 We may have inadvertently blown Dave's mind.

I was just about to post something about Dave. He is so passive aggressive with his posts. Also, why the hell do they have to be so long? Just get to the point. I am enjoying going back and forth with him though. He still hasn't presented me with any evidence that UNC is being held down by the committee even though I've asked for it multiple times.

Haha ya. I thought his response was funny - quoting me but yet directing all of his response to you, indirectly of course since he never actually said who he was referring to.

There are a fair amount of poasters on Radar who actually think that they are part of the team.

The old standby for Radar which I absolutely despise, and I'm surprised we haven't seen yet since the brackets were released, is the "Guys, we can't discuss a potential Providence matchup in the 2nd round - we have to focus on Florida Gulf coast in the first round! One game at a time!" As if a bunch of fans on an internet forum speculating about a potential future matchup will get the team distracted and cause them to lose.

"Guys, we can't discuss a potential Providence matchup in the 2nd round - we have to focus on Florida Gulf coast in the first round! One game at a time!"

That's why they are talking about having to face IU or UK because they are our first game. They wouldn't look ahead to say we got screwed because we might have to face them down the road.

Continuing with today's levity, here are the favorite bands of all 68 67 coaches in the tournament. Anybody want to guess which cheese-eating sour puss never responded to the author's request?

Every NCAA Tournament Coach's Favorite Band

That's awesome. Michael Jackson had the most votes. Was disappointed to see there was no votes for hall and Oates.

And since we're on the topic, I hope everyone has seen the pics of Roy clowning around after the ACCT with his hat on backwards and sideways. Say what you will but I love Roy's joie de vivre. He is at the opposite end of the spectrum from our archrival's coach, who always looks like it would physically pain him to crack a smile. Screw that guy.

So true. K seems to be as much fun as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

So, Dave just asked me to prove that gravity exists. If I can't prove it, then it doesn't exist. I nominate that for dumbest post of the year.

I post on pretty much every UNC Rivals board, more on THR because of the activity there, contest, etc. I loved that y'all started this thread (@Grayhead needed a place of refuge) and I understand why you did it (I'm probably part of the reason) but if you step back and take a look at it, you now sound like a bunch of 10th grade girls talking about the dorks down the hall, giggling and rolling your eyes.

What started out as a very good basketball discussion has turned into a super secret gossip club. Based on what you've said, it appears THIS thread should be on THR ;)

I know I know: "GFY" "GMAFB" "LOL" ...just had to say it.

Dave might have gone keyboard krazy . .

I loved his 'I am a message board uniter speech . . '

He's starting to get really upset that I'm killing him on his posts. You guys need to go over there and help me out so I can take a break.
