I have no problem going outside the family for the next hire. And would absolutely prefer it if the "in the family" pick was going to be Hubert Davis.

I'm not completely sold on Jay Wright though. Seems like a decent guy - but seems to consistently underachieve at Nova, but maybe I'm wrong.

Pretty sure it is Steve. Guy was a great coach at Tulsa, got a short stick at FSU and has been under Roy ever since. Rob with a handoff to Hubert is a good plan, just like the Dean - Gut - Roy plan was solid. Only no one counted on Roy not taking the gig on the first go round.

And another question I can't help ask and you can never get an answer for. Why him?

How does a plain get drawn up that includes taking a guy off of the ESPN stage with NO coaching experience and handing him the keys to the biggest and best CBB program in America even remotely sound like a good idea?

When I was a little boy, and we moved to NC from southern VA, I thought we'd be pulling for Va. when he took me to my first game (UVA @ UNC 1976). He said "Nooo, we're pulling for the Tar Heels!" I was easily coaxed into that... the colors looked really cool!

IMO, that's not going to happen.

We'll go outside the family. I can almost guarantee it. And I hope we do. Robinson is a good guy and a decent coach, I reckon. But he hasn't shown enough to get the gig. My money is on Mark Turgeon to get the first call. He's Roy's boy.

In fairness, how could he have shown 'enough' while sitting on UNC's bench for the past 10 years? His stop at FSU was, well, over a decade ago.

My money is on Mark Turgeon to get the first call. He's Roy's boy.

Whether he hasn't been given the opportunity to prove himself or not is irrelevant. The bottom line is he hasn't proven himself. So he won't be getting the gig.

I just can't do Radar anymore. I can't. I've been steering clear of it but I went over there this morning. I started reading the "I come in peace" IU/UNC discussion thread and I made it to post 37 and had to stop.

Radarians don't allow any discussion to develop. All they do is browbeat anyone who doesn't toe the party line. This includes the mod(s). By the way, one of gary-7's minions, Heelicious, is rapidly rising my list of most despised posters.

Ugh - the "I come in Peace" thread is driving me up a wall. I agree that some Radarians are jumping on people's cases without cause - but that YOTHN guy is either a clown or a troll. I've tried to debate his points a few times and he just refuses to acknowledge counterpoints, as well as his own misunderstandings.

His first post was asinine. In a nutshell, according to him, nobody on IU's roster can match up with any of Carolina's players. That's the kind of ridiculous crap you just roll your eyes at and move on. Unfortunately the IU posters lacked the discretion to do that and it turned into theater of the absurd.
