OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

Then don't read it. Poast at another board.
THN is right, Gare-bear has almost single-handedly ruined Radar. And that's a damn shame. Before I ever had premium membership here, I used to poast on Radar all the time. It was a great board. I don't wanna poast somewhere else, you know? I liked it the was it was before the smelly kid moved in next door.

I still poast there, probably more than most OOTB regulars. I don't even acknowledge gary's presence until a thread turns into a "calling gary out" thread. There are probably 20 poasters there that when I see their name by a message, I just keep scrolling because I don't value their messages. I guess what I'm saying is that he's only ruining the board for you if you let him. Otherwise, you'd treat it like a dsouthr poasts and just fly by.

I don't really care at all about him. I just find a few shots here and there entertaining, which to me is mostly what these boards are about. I'm definitely on board with ignoring people (not putting people on ignore though). I do it all the time on the main board. I'm ok with people not ignoring them though.

BTW, some Pack fans are finally starting to open their eyes to the truth. Some PackPride poasters have admitted in the last couple days that Moo is just as dirty as everyone else and that "everybody" does it. Sad times over in East Cary.

Is AZ State really that good? If Hurley creates a decent team, then that might put him in the running for taking over for the King.

Unless Capel leaves for a head coaching job before K retires I doubt it. Now he might be the guy that replaces Capel...

This is my homerism talking to a degree but I wouldn’t personally be happy with the prospect of Capel taking over as coach.
I'm not happy with the prospect of anyone taking over. I'm 33, K has been the coach my entire life and is one of the best to ever do it... Who replaces that? Capel will get his shot IMO but it's almost impossible to be the guy who replaces the legend. You guys went through that with Dean so you know what I'm talking about.

I think Capel would be a good man for the job for that aspect alone. I don't think he would do a great job so being able to be the guy to replace a legend, kind of not get it right, then get replaced by someone else would seem to be the way it is done. Plus, it is Capel and I don't think Duke fans hold him in the same regard as a Hurley or someone like that. From a UNC perspective it would be ok as well since I think he is a pretty average coach (hell of a recruiter though).

Pretty much.

We did go through that after Dean. We had an unbelievable year in 1998 under Guthridge who inherited a team Dean built. We went to a FF in 2000 when not many expected us to. But other than that, it wasn’t good times. I was only a little kid when all that went down but I thank the lord Roy came along and fixed things up.

It would not surprise me at all if Duke went through something similar after K retired.

Yeah unfortunately 98 should've been a championship year... If Dean is still coaching then there's no way we lose that Utah game.

Dean told Roy in hindsight he felt he retired too early. At the time, I'm sure he retired when he did so he could hand the keys to a championship team to Guthridge. Gut was a good man and loyal to the program, but dammit that 6 man starting rotation was nonsense. I wish Dean would've talked some sense into him back then.
