OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

This game made no difference. We were a 2 seed either way. I just hope we end up in Xavier’s bracket.

Seeing a lot of figurative fellating of Virginia on Twitter, by Heel fans.

Fukkkkk that. Fukk Virginia and their garbage style of ball. Sure, I respect that they're good at what they do, but damn.
It's a "winning style" of ball.

I bet UNC haters in the 70's thought the 4 Corners was garbage style of ball. But, they won a lot of games using it!;)

This team is also quite capable of losing its first game. They aren’t particularly good when they aren’t dialed in.
Yeah I have no idea what to expect. We could just as easy lose in the Round of 32 as make the Final Four. Hell, if we draw a 15 seed with multiple 3-point bombers, we could go down in our first game, Wofford style.

I kind of agree. They are very good but they get away with a lot on both ends to be as good as they are. The difference tonight was Guy though, who is just the one guy on both sides who make the most big shots when it mattered.

UVa is good. Very good. Legit chance to win the title. They will make the Final Four this year.

We’re good. Very good. Legit chance to win the title. We will make the Final Four this year.

I'll be shocked if Virginia wins it all. As discussed, fouls get called tighter in the NCAAT, and they won't shoot as hot during one game as they did tonight.

If I had to put some money down 'Nova would probably be where I would go right now. However, this would be a terrible year to have to pick one (or even a few) teams.

I never want to play duke in the tournament. N.E.V.E.R.
I don't either. But we have a better chance of beating Duke than we do beating Virginia. We just suck against them, period. Like, literally our national championship-caliber teams wilt against their defense and tempo. We just cannot crack the code.

I could handle a loss to UVA. The committee would never put us in the same bracket as duke so that means the earliest we could meet is the FF. I couldn't handle a loss to duke then.

I mean, would a FF loss to Virginia be "better" than a loss to Duke? Sure. The same way it would be "better" to get killed by a gunshot to the head than it would be to get impaled on barbed wire and slowly bleed to death. It would still suck though. I wouldn't be okay with it.

You talking about Virginia or NC?
LOL, sad but becoming more and more true. Can we please just give OBX to Virginia? Yankee infested.

Let's talk bubble:

Oklahoma State -- if I was a fan of theirs, I would (will) freak the fukk out when they don't make the field. Their resume is damn good, even if their win total isn't amazing. They've beaten Kansas twice, beat Oklahoma twice, beat FSU on a neutral court, won at West Virginia, beat Texas Tech and Texas once each.

They're going to get screwed and the committee is going to put Oklahoma in over Ok State because of Trae Young.

BTW, @Hark_The_Sound_2010 I don't want to respond to the (yet another) dSPN thread on Radar, but I totally agree with you that SVP's SportsCenter is the best non-sporting broadcast thing going on ESPN right now (except College Game Day). It's vintage SportsCenter and it's really, really well done. SVP knows his shit, and they actually show highlights of other things besides just the NBA. Like when a college game's ending leads into SVP's SC, he'll at least talk about the game for a couple minutes before jumping into a "more popular" topic like, you know, LeBron. And then SVP will always return to that game and do a followup with Bilas.

It's definitely a certain something I can't explicitly identify that makes SVP's show good because the late-late night SportsCenter with Stan Verett and Neil Everett that comes after SVP is awfullll and is back to the same old tired ESPN formula of LeBron, NBA, LeBron, NFL,Cowboys, NFL, some social issue, LeBron, NHL, LeBron, Warriors, LeBron.

Davidson beats bubble darling St. Bonny's to advance to the A10 Final against Rhode Island. Not an easy task.
The Wildcats are holding on to a slim lead with 7 to go. I had forgotten that RI was coached by Hurley’s bro. So by dook association, the Rams* can GFY.

*did they steal UNC's color and mascot name, or what?

Wildcats pulled it off to become the 6th N.C. school to make the big dance. Carolina, State (I assume), Duke, UNC-Greensboro, NC Central, Davidson.

I'm shocked UK won the SEC tourney
Yep, it's such a joke that they've gotten to play in that conference for decades. Same with Kansas in the Big12, which has only gotten good recently and traditionally has been garbage (no team from Kansas's conference has EVER won the national title... let that sink in).

No wonder both programs' win totals are inflated.

Are they bitching about Van Pelt as well? I watched that the other night and he wasn't overly harsh or anything. Just wasn't blow away by our chances at a 1 because of our losses. Pretty reasonable tbh. I love his show. That and Highly Questionable are the only two non live things I consistently enjoy .

You’re probably too young to remember the sportscenter hey days. Dan Patrick and Keith Olberman were the #1 team but often challenged by the #2 team of Craig Kilborn and Kenny Mayne. They were so, so good. The style was fresh and entertaining. Every anchor since then (save a few - Linda Cohn, Stu Scott, Steve Levy) is a bad knockoff of the original product.

That’s just inaccurate. You’re doing that thing again where you make proclamations about things you don’t know to be true.
I know it's a very conservative, rural, Southern state as soon as you get South of Northern Virginia (and if you avoid Charlottesville). But I'm pissed at the Commonwealth right now, k? Let me have this.

I can’t take Dan Lebetard and his social commentary. I like his dad though.

It was so good back then. It was like an event.

I like Lebetard and Bomani even if I don't always agree with them. The dad is the best part though.
