OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

I'm amazed, shocked, stunned, impressed and ashamed of my own lack of confidence.

If the Heels didn't turn the ball over 22 times, they might have won by 30 or 40.

That was a near-flawless game, except for the turnovers... which were abundant. But, they boys played very well tonight.

Couldn't agree more. It really should have been a major blowout. Makes me wonder what this team is capable of come March and April

And maybe Gonzaga was "off", too, I dunno.

UNC was hitting shots, big-time. I dunno what the final % was, but, it was really impressive. Woods' game alone was really impressive. Those turnovers were a noticeable stain, however. But, no complaints at all, otherwise. They almost scored 200 points between the two of them. The game was never close. It was nothing like the 2017 NC game.

Gary's recap threads have turned into him and Tarheel75 overusing coach speak as lubrication to jerk each other off.
LOL.

I went over there long enough to see his game recap, which he poasted at 9:44 pm on Saturday night. Less than an hour after the game, because heaven forbid anybody should have to wait for him to impart his wisdom to the masses. If there's a more self-important poaster on THI, I can't think of who.

Great piece on Nas. This quote from the article is awesome:

"Little wasn't worried that the school and its coach had a reputation for not being one-and-done friendly. He actually liked that the Tar Heels were the lone program in his final five schools that didn't promise him he could be a "Day 1 starter."

"I was always taught, if you earn something, you can keep it," Little says, "but if it's given to you, you can get it taken away."

But did he anticipate playing less than 20 minutes a game? Did he think he'd have to wonder if his draft stock might dip? Did he realize how hard it would be to play for a coach like Williams, who has, more or less, resisted the one-and-done ethos by still holding players' feet to the fire rather than merely giving them jerseys for a year?

Probably not.

"You gotta be able to learn to take that kind of coaching," Little says. "I don't think this program is for everybody."

It’s starting to feel like this season is gonna end up worse than last year. We still have no inside presence, and while our three seniors have some occasional moments, they just don’t impact the game the way that Joel and Theo did.

Here we go. Morning after a loss and now we stink?

Last night's game didn't change my perception on our long term outlook one bit.

I didn’t say we stink. And I’m not trying to be pessimistic; just realistic. I’m hoping for some rapid improvement over the next few months... I really am.

Without a doubt, we’ll still make the tourney but do you think the Heels will get farther than last year? Sweet 16 is the likely ceiling; a lot depends on the matchups.

Joel and particularly Theo made the guys around them better. We don't have anybody doing that right now. We have guys like Cam, Kenny, and Coby who can score but we need a facilitator. I think (hope) we'll see someone assume that role as the year goes along.

The situation with our bigs is the same as last season. No point beating that horse. Brooks and Manley are serviceable but get exposed by superior big men. That's what killed us last night as we struggled to score inside and couldn't create extra opportunities with offensive rebounds.
