OOTB Carolina football discussion thread

When you take into account the size of the beer, it's not really that different from last year. Beer at events are super expensive no matter where you go, though. Not sure why anyone would be surprised.

ETA: I just realized both pictures were this year. Thought it was a comparison to last year. I do remember them being pretty expensive last year, but not sure exactly how much.

What's odd is that nothing is rounded to the nearest dollar anymore. I guess maybe they are adding tax instead of including it in the regular price. Makes sense since everything is cashless now.

lol, events???

it’s double the price compared to where i’ve been…and buying a 24oz beer or a crazy white claw is for suckers.

16oz beer at vatech and scarolina is $8.

LOL, events??? Yes, things you go to like sporting events, concerts, etc. It doesn't surprise me that they are cheaper in Redneckville, USA.

it’s a college football game, not a taylor swift concert.

they’re cheaper almost everywhere else…in fact, i just saw bill maher a couple of weeks ago and beers were $6 & $8…and again, a 24oz beer or white claw doesn’t even make sense.

Really? Well shit, I would have gone to the game if I knew that.

You going to compare a college football game to a Maher show where there's three people attending? The type of people who go to that show are more likely to drink a cosmopolitan before or after the show than drink a beer. That's why they are so cheap.

you said events…if you don’t like the comparison, then use college football games…use nfl games as well if you like.

Ok, I'll rephrase. Popular events. That would get rid of things like Maher, which you shouldn't actually admit you went to.

I remember when 12 bucks could get you four pitchers of coors light at bubs, and "crowd" was probably more fun and more rowdy than any section of kenan.

there’s a local spot here that still does $5 pitchers…and that’s not just coors light, but any beer…it’s not even a college spot.

and on wednesday they have $6 wine pours.

I don't even think the NCAA has a rationale for it. If he sues, I'm going to be super excited for the discovery process..
I wonder, where might he find a good lawyer (s) and who might he get to pay for it?

Just kidding, I imagine there are any number of them straining their chains to get after it. The problem is time. What does Tez do in the meantime?

He already has a lawyer that has been working with him. I'm sure he could get plenty of NIL money to pay for it. I'm not sure exactly how a lawsuit like this would work, but I'm assuming he would try for a TRO so he could play immediately.

tez is getting tons of hits on x…many saying just play him.

although i wouldn’t do that, it would be interesting to see from a school not named auburn.

I don't drink white claws, but apparently these prices are really bothering you. Grab yourself a nice white claw and relax.
Those prices should bother everyone. Universities have become so greedy. All the money they make and they continue to screw the fans over by raising the price of tuition, tickets, refreshments, merchandise, etc… Don’t plan to a single game this year, only watched a couple last year. After 60 years, I’m done with sports.

Why should it bother me? The price of a beer at whatever event I'm going to doesn't impact my life. If I wanted to drink during a game, I would just do what other smart people do. Sneak alcohol inside. You've being saying you're done with all sports for several years. Is the price of beer really what will send you over the edge?

ETA: I'm very surprised people here on the right haven't blamed Biden and inflation for this. Seems like a wasted opportunity. If someone decides to do so, just move it to the political thread. TIA.

I have to comment here, that I've been around long enough to see sports become about everything but sports. It used to be you watched or listened to a boxing match or a football game purely for the sport itself, and the contest being played. People made money from the playing and presentation of games, but it was kept in the background as much as possible. Sponsors had their products prominently peddled, but only briefly and at opportune times that didn't interfere with what the fan was tuned into or attending.

I'm not one who gripes that it's all about the money. OF COURSE it's about money, we're all trying to make a living....but it shouldn't be so about the money that the purity of sport takes a back seat to it. But that is what has happened and it's a sad state of affairs.

Now you have more attention paid to idiots like Rapinho or whatever her name is, using her status to get on a soapbox for more money. Her sport gets lost in the shuffle. Pro athletes are paid such insanely exorbitant monies that what they are paid is as much of the story as their play is. And they have so much money that they think their opinions matter more than the man on the street. To pay those salaries and maintain an arena, the price of going to a game has become more like an investment than a visit. Concessions and parking are ridiculous.

Games are structured and altered so as to allow the maximum commercialism. I could go on and on but you get the idea. It isn't that it's about the money. It's that it's only about the money. I appreciate your POV, but I sympathize with @Archer2 's POV as well. I've been a sports fan all my life, but like him the edge of enjoyment has been greatly dulled for me.

He likely wouldn’t have to pay anything up front. Many attorneys will take promising cases on contingency with the agreement that they are given a certain percentage of whatever damages are recovered. Normally would be around 30% but I’d guess he negotiate that down for this particular case. Or he could come up with the cash to pay up front and likely save himself a lot of scratch in the long run.

pro bono, attorneys live for this…in fact, the fee for something like this isn't the end game, if you get my point.
