OOTB Carolina football discussion thread

Don't be obtuse, it has nothing to do with "being right". Of course, we'd all love for Fed to win them all and go down as the greatest coach to ever coach the game. But that isn't going to happen, is it. I'd even settle for him being a very good coach. But that isn't the case either. I simply want the ineptitude to end ASAP. Why prolong the inevitable?
Clearly not. You chose to phrase your words the way you did. No one made you do that. My point was I agree with THN, you'd never say that on the basketball board. And you'd berate anyone who did. Which is why he was right to call you out. It is hypocritical.

When we get a basketball coach who is as inept as Fed, I’ll say the same thing. I wasn’t on the board then but I was saying similar things about Doherty. I don’t post any differently about either sport.

Again, if you’re content with Fed, fine. He’s probably going to be around at least a couple of more years.

Super unpopular opinion time.....

I think it would be cool for one game if we went with the above combo for basketball. Navy shorts, navy top, Carolina blue numbers with the heavy white outline. That white outline really makes the navy and Carolina blue pop IMO.

Maybe for a special occasion on an aircraft carrier or something. I agree it looks awesome. But definitely only want to see the navy as a one-off, not on the regular.

We may get our asses kicked again this weekend, but damn it we are going to look PHENOMENAL doing it. Love this combo:

The problem with these "alternative" uniforms is that we always seem to unveil them for a game we lose. The black unis were unveiled for the Miami game, which was a loss, and if I remember correctly the last time we unveiled navy unis was for the FSU night game, which was a loss. If we lose this game, people will hate them. If by some chance we manage to win, then they will become everyone's favorite uni (see chrome helmet vs moo for example).

I agree that we bust them a lot during losses, which sucks. As for your question about last time we busted out navy pants and shirts, you answered your own question in your last line. Last time we did it was vs. Moo in 2012. The game vs. FSU was in 2009.

Ok, I was thinking it was FSU. Guess that kind of proves my point though. I remember wearing it in the loss and not the win.

If there's such a thing as a good loss, that was it.

Defensive line played their best game of the season. Good to have Dalton back. Secondary made a lot of plays (12 PBUs) but Miami's yards per completion (20.9) was gaudy.

Offense executed well enough to win but the difference was QB experience. One made enough plays to win, the other made one too many costly mistakes. I really liked Elliott running the ball. Good vision and the ability to make somebody miss and/or gain some yards after contact.

There's no such thing as a good loss. Ugh.

I feel the same way. I was frustrated with the loss and terrible calls towards the end. Still, the defense showed up. The offense looked better when the QB controlling it knew it. The problem was elliott just isn't a D1 QB. We were lucky to not have turned it over more.

Still, things a little better in the future.

I agree. I always thought it would be cool.

Yesterday totally changed my outlook on next year. If we can put together a defensive performance like that with as many injuries as we currently have, then we should have a solid defensive unit for 2018 when we get guys back from injury. Plus there's the young guys who will hopefully be ready to contribute and provide depth.

If the o-line can put together a solid healthy unit for 2018 and we find a QB, then it could be a quick turnaround. If ruder is the real deal maybe he will take the job even as a true freshman.

So proud of our guys yesterday. After getting embarrassed by VT they could have easily rolled over for that Miami team. It was a breath of fresh air to see some fight. As much as some people rag on Larry he’s not giving up and it’s apparent he still has control over our guys as well. Bright future ahead.
