OOTB Carolina football discussion thread

yes, it definitely was not another pointed jab at our inability to capitalize on our own talent or anything like that. It was about Miami, anyone can see that.

Exactly. My post about us wasting talent was this one

Another big time get for us. Going to be awesome watching him on an eight win UNC team.

But this is OOTB, not radar. We can have a sense of humor about the team here.

Not one, not two….but three tarheel losses between bball and fb over the weekend. Throw in the packers and panthers losing and you know why I’m hungover

I’m not even mad about this one because we were completely cheated out of a win with 2 back-to-back, egregious calls against us late - the late hit that wasn’t at all late or unnecessary and the ball that was thrown into the stands in which they called PI on.

I will consider it a win and im enjoying having taken 3 in a row over the beastiality majors.

I like your attitude.

I simply have no faith in the coaching staff. They're incompetent. It's like choosing to be frustrated. I don't blame the players.
I'm putting it on some players in the defensive secondary, and not just for that one monumentally brainless play of letting their guy get behind them in an obvious situation where the one thing you can't do is let them get behind you. That was bad enough. But if Cam Kelly had played his man instead of the ball, on their previous scoring play, the game would have been over then. Or if Trey Morrison hadn't inexplicably decided to not touch the ball on the onsides kick...

And the ref that made that roughing the passer call should have his eyelids ripped off.

I haven't been this pissed-off about a football game in at least 20 years. The WAY they lost that game was beyond humiliating. I'm kinda glad I live near Clemson and don't have to deal with any moo fans, directly. This is worse than the UVA loss in 1996, because of the opponent.

Or if Greene could catch in the RedZone.

I don't like passing 3 times from 1st & 4 yards to goal, but players and Refs hurt more right there than play-calling.

Plenty of blame for players and coaches but the level of inconsistency this yr
makes me point to Mack. He's got a ceiling on gameday, obviously in recruiting the ceiling is the roof.

I would be a lot more optimistic if Mack had made aggressive moves firing and replacing some assistants going into the bowl practice period. Give the new coaches a chance to integrate and make their changes. Use the bowl game for proof of concept.

Greene had a bad night for sure, but he was interfered with on both of those end zone passes. The one where he was falling down because the pass was underthrown, it doesn't show up well in the views they had of it, but the receiver yanked on his hip just before the ball got there. It wasn't that much interference, but then he was trying to catch the ball while falling down. On the other one, it would have been a fantastic play if he had managed to fight off that interference, and it should have been flagged.

I agree with you and @gunslingerdick that the officiating cost us.

A mediocre OL performance for the year probably would’ve been good enough for 9-10 wins. But the defense still has to improve dramatically to get to the next level. Searels has to go, and if there’s a good candidate for DC then move on from Bateman too. The strength and conditioning team could use some work too. That aspect of player development is crucial.

If Longo stays then lock him in a room and make him watch 1000 successful red zone plays every day.

That first sentence is why i'm still torn between the "Fire Longo" camp and the "Longo is on the hotseat" camp. I want better but we could do worse.

But I wonder if that sentence would be true with an average QB rather than the dual-threat stud Howell. The offense got better when someone realized that Howell should just run first more often instead of him scrambling for time, then allowing himself to be sacked or TFL'd. That option obviously works with a Howell or Marquise, but most other QBs would be in rehab by now.

Sam Howell gets an honorable mention on the All-ACC teams? He's passed-over for Brennan Armstrong???

I'm okay if UNC leaves the ACC.

Yeah, I cant take that list seriously. If you take everything into account, he was the best QB this year. You can make an argument for the Pitt guy, but Armstrong? GTFOH

Curious who this board pulls for [ IF FORCED TO CARE ] in the ACC Champ game - Pitt vs WF? I hate wake but Narduzzi is almost as like-able as Paul Johnson.

I didn't even know who was in it until you posted it. That's how much I care. I'll go with WF since they are an original member.

They need to vote for the All-COnference teams after the CG's. Hartman has thrown about 17 interceptions tonight and 2 were a pick-6.

I hope that costs him the Heisman. I hope it costs him the nomination.
Heisman is going to Bryce Young from Alabama and it won't even be close.

He put up by far the best year ever by any Alabama QB, and there are some legit QBs who have played there before. Possibly the best ever by a QB in the SEC as well.

I think he's every bit as good as (better than) Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Mac Jones - anyone else who's come out recently. I wouldn't be surprised if he has Mahomes-like results in the NFL...but Bryce is only a soph, so I wouldn't be surprised if he stays at least one more year in college.
