OOTB's Political Thread . ..

ETA:
I have, however, noticed that the more politically polarized it has become, it's much less kind.
hmmm. Wonder what that common thread was that is now more and more UNcommon or just missing, the one that kept such extreme polarization from occurring.

As soon as Jesus showed up I think would be the more appropriate response, but whatever. I understand the point you're trying to make. Read an ancient history book whenever you get a chance. Civilization wasn't always 'civil', in the present sense of the word.
Civilization isn't ever, has never been, will never be, "always civil." It wasn't always civil when Protestants and Catholics were killing each other in various slow and painful ways. It's not civil when armies are at war and praying to the same God to make them strong and their "enemies" weak.

God doesn't care what we do. She's enjoying the show, regardless.

"You do well to wish to learn our arts, ways of life and above all the religion of Jesus Christ. These will make you happier people than you are."

"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion, to the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian."

- George Washington

"The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God."

- John Adams

"I am a Christian in the only sense in which He wished anyone to be: sincerely attached to His doctrines in preference to all others."

"I am a real Christian, that is to say a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ."

- Thomas Jefferson

"I believe that there is only one living and true God, existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, the same in substance and equal in power and glory."

- Richard Sherman

"One of the beautiful boasts of our jurisprudence is that Christianity is a part of the Common Law. There never has been a period in which the Common Law did not recognize Christianity as lying its foundation."

- Joseph Story

It’s not that the Founders didn’t think Christianity was important or that they didn’t believe in it. They just didn’t want it to be the deciding factor in government. They didn’t want it to be an oppressive force, which too many have in this country.

The religious right in this country is one chromosome away from being the Christian theocratic equivalent of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Social media is one of the more unique variables. People are always stubborn and cruel. Now, we get to do it with anyone, toward everyone, anonymously and without the filter we would probably have if we were in their actual presence.

whatever that thing is in the casket, it is a queen. A deceased queen, but still a queen.

And given the buildup, no heavyweight championship could ever match the import of this event. Jesus Christ, you're the president of the U.S. Be there on time. Nothing like attending the funeral of the monarch of our most important ally and positioning yourself in a who cares seat.
I think the correct term would be former queen, but don't let the details stop you from acting every bit as ignorant as @uncfootball-.

And only British dandies or American fairies would say this funeral was more "import" than a heavyweight fight for the title.

Let's be honest here about this event. The other day when I was trying to avoid a channel carrying the funeral razzmatazz, I couldn't help but noticing as I was flipping through the channels that it was just another huge dog and pony show, reminding me how akin we are to chimps..

The Queen died, so just put her in the ground and be done with it. Life goes on without a blink for most people on the planet, but a relatively few others need to make a huge deal out of an ordinary end. So accordingly, attendance at this overblown funeral was also for show. That being the case, if you're going to play the game, play it the way your position requires. That part is for keeps. Just another Biden bumble.

This is one of the few times I wish Trump had won. It would have been interesting to see if he would even be invited. And, had he made the same "bumble", all of his supporters would be defending him and the script would be flipped.

So which is it, you confused rattlebrain? One minute this state funeral is of the utmost "import," and how dare Joe Biden arrive a few minutes late. The next minute you post about flipping the channels so you didn't have to watch the mundane coverage of the event.

Maybe Joe Biden knows something you're just now trying to figure out.

You'll easily see that people will refer to the stiff in the casket as the Queen, because in body she still is what she formerly was.

You're just being your usual asshole self quibbling over semantics as if you have any more of a handle there than anyone else. The correct term might be the former Queen, but the reasonably intelligent don't find it necessary or practical to state the obvious in normal speech. When people directly address your hero obama, they don't call him 'former Mr. President', they just say Mr. President.

Again and again your insecurity causes you to try to make yourself appear superior to others, and again and again you just shit and then step in it. If you choose to refer to the dead queen otherwise, who gives a shit. But you of course you can't help stupidly and arrogantly trying correct someone who referred to her in a completely appropriate manner.

The rest of your post is just more of the same, you putting your insecurities on display. My use of the word 'import' was actually more appropriate than you are capable of appreciating.

LMAO at Trump making this kind of bumble. If Trump was President, the funeral would have been held up until he was seated in the front row.

I'll tell you what wasn't so easy to see and that President Biden trying to shake her hand from the 14th row.

Idiot!

Former Mr. President Trump would be trying to corner the concessions and find some way to stiff the Royals.

Doubtful.

In the front row in the "Canadian Club Chairs" sit the King and his spouse. The next several rows behind them are reserved for the Royal Family. Interestingly enough, Donald Trump was intentionally uninvited.

"The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function."
____F. Scott Fitzgerald

and in truth, they aren't even opposing ideas. First, educate yourself as to the meaning of 'import' (hint..it isn't used the way you clumsily tried to use it in your last post).

Then understand what any fifth grader understands, that the way I view something is not necessarily the way others view it. I can refer to the way I view it and the way others view it in the same sentence, and only the profoundly stupid or the most insecure of assholes will try to make an issue out of nothing.

Obviously this was a big deal, and I said so in calling it a big dog and pony show. But it was at the same time an unnecessarily hyped big deal. Gee, that's such a hard concept to grasp.

I don't need to look the word up. I know it is used by the very old and the very stupid when they are pretending to sound not-so-very dumb.

Lol

As if anyone would be afraid of you. You acting tough is hilarious though. I'm enjoying the show. But be careful, you do that shit to wrong guy and you'll meet your maker even sooner than we all think, which at your advanced age, is pretty soon.
And if she knew how he was disrespecting Christianity it would be an issue for Jean come burial time. She's a good Christian that doesn't appreciate poor mouthing of the faith. Old Phillip better pray no one shows up in Elkin repeating all his bullshit to her.

because they wanted the focus to be on the recently deceased. It's understandable. And him causing a rearrangement of front row seating just shows what a true leader he was for us.

that might very well sometimes be the case. But if you were even nearly as intelligent as you try to appear to be, you'd understand that that is not always the case. And one way or the other, your insecurities are so apparent that everyone can see them...everyone but you that is.

I'm starting to think my dog is smarter than you, and boy, is he one dumb dog!

No, this is me telling you you’re an idiot for pretending there is some macabre value on seating at a funeral.

“Damn it, Jill, I can’t see the casket from the 14th row as well as I might have from the 10th row.”

You’re a hoot, poopslinger!

No. You keep commenting as if I'm insinuating it's some kind of sporting event when I never indicated anything of the sort. So it looks like you're the one thinking in that vein. And yet you keep repeating it only making yourself look more and more retarded.

The bottom line is that the American President - previously viewed as the most respected position in the world - was sitting in the 14th row while the Assistant to the Traveling Secretary for the UK National Cricket Team was sitting 6 rows in front of him.

Joe Biden: losing respect from Americans as well as those around the world everyday. We should be so proud.

I think he figures since no one will show up to his, him being late isn't all that big of a deal.

No. You said they were deists, which would mean they only believe in a higher power but that the higher power doesn't intervene in human affairs. And the quotes I provided suggest that you're wrong. Several of those quotes state a firm belief in the Christian doctrines. That's not deism.

Furthermore, several of those quotes indicate that the American government was based largely on Christian beliefs.

Take a lap.

No, I'm commenting because you insinuated this is some type of event where seating really matters, you hard-of-reading numbskull.

IT MATTERS THAT THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT WAS IN THE 14TH ROW. Whether he was purposely seated there because he's an old, declining dotard or because his old, slow moving, inconsiderate ass couldn't get there on time is mostly irrelevant. It was embarrassing that the once "most powerful person in the world" was not front and center, especially at event of this magnitude.

You're doing your best to excuse the retarded old man and his idiot wife but you're only making yourself look more pathetic.

Just take the L and go lick your wounds in private instead of the fit you're throwing here publicly. Have some dignity for Christ's sake.

Of all people, Phillip better get right with his maker soon. He's on borrowed time.

Only to pathetic MAGAtards like yourself.

It's uncanny the level of hypocrisy taking place here. You and your fellow MAGAtards used to forgive Trump for his miscues and indiscretions all the time. Now, President Biden -- who, by the way, has no say in making out his security detail schedule -- arrives late and you losers act like he did something unforgivable like steal and then lose top secret documents.

That's right, MAGAtards, since I pointed out the obvious that the U.S. President, especially when traveling abroad, has little say in motorcade details which is the responsibility of the Secret Service, resort to Plan B which is mumbling aloud other pointless insults.
