OOTB's Political Thread . ..

Do you honestly believe that independents' support for Trump is unaffected by this farcical indictment? Do you not believe that there are large numbers of independent voters that are not recognizing this for what it is and have become angered by it?
Well, if you read the article you would have noticed that even some democrats think it's politically motivated. The problem for Trump and the Democrats is that independents and pretty much every relevant group doesn't care. They've made up their minds already.

Think about it like the academic "scandal" at UNC. Did UNC **** up? Sure. Would some type of punishment have been justified? Probably. Did what happened change UNC fans into duke/moo fans? No, because we're UNC fans.

I don't think comparing Trump to sports teams is a fair comparison. There's literally NOTHING that could EVER change fandom.

Well... I dunno. If I found out that Dean Smith had participated in something like what Paterno fostered and enabled, I very well might just abandon UNC association. I'd be too torn and conflicted by it. The legacy would always be there.

Trump supporters, on the other hand, are never dissuaded or disgusted by anything he's ever been accused of at all. In fact, they can instantly discount anything and everything. It literally doesn't matter what he does, and he'll be forgiven. Or, at the very worst, the supporters can always pull the "The Other Side Is Worse" rip-cord, and float safely back into the Trump embrace.

Now, the moderates and independents? I dunno who they are, to be honest.

And then you proceeded to make the same valid comparison that I did.

That's me. I'm the one who didn't vote for either candidate and can judge Trump's presidency in shades of grey instead of black and white.

Um, that's because accusations are not the same as guilt, and considering the folks levelling accusations are the same that call others racist for say, rejecting global warming or that BLM burning down people's businesses are wrong.

Why would a sane person believe any of these fake accusations like the Russian collusion hoax?

Sane person? Your baseline for whatever sanity is supposed to be is suspect, at best. A prime example is when you claim you have been called a racist because you reject global warming.

These three sentences actually sum up much of the entire situation. First, there is your use of the phrase "Trump supporters". This is a D and msm driven narrative describing all those that did not vote for President Where Am I. Given the choice between the same two candidates, it is true that many would vote for orange because of his relative qualities. It's like picking between a serial killer and a drunk driver. Both have broken the law, but picking the drinker doesn't mean you support drinking and driving, it just means given the lame choice, it's relatively better than one who repeatedly kills. It hardly makes you a supporter of a candidate. Actual supporters are a much, much smaller number than those who voted for trump. Many trump voters would welcome a viable, winning alternative to emerge out of the primaries.

And, you are correct that there are those voters who "can instantly discount anything and everything." This, however, is not a phenomenon associated with orange. This is a behavior that makes up the majority of voters who are going to pull the D or pull the R because that's what they do - always - regardless of individual qualities (frankly, there is no other way to explain the average D voter who put Biden into office as they are not typically the radical progressive agenda supporter that this administration has demonstrated). It's those very small amount of swing voters in those very small amount of swing districts that matter on the final tally.

There is a real thing that has developed out there known as trump fatigue. I think many trump supporters and voters are ready to move on. They see him as unelectable in the general. Whether that emerges in Desantis or someone else remains to be seen. There is a companion component to trump fatigue, however. It's similar to the old tale about the boy who cried wolf. People are growing increasingly tired of the constant claims of trump this or trump that. We're all still waiting on shiffty and his russia, russia, russia evidence that he has. It's a broken record. This indictment and it's impact is a very interesting gamble by those behind it.

Has anyone seen the reports of record donations since this info was announced?

Haven't seen any reports, but I said it would happen when he announced it a couple of weeks ago. The post on his social media was to raise money. I'm guessing there's probably been several emails sent out saying something like "SHAM PROSECUTION OF TRUMP" or "WE NEED YOUR MONEY TO BRING BACK JUSTICE." Some kind of dumb shit like that.

but that is the way it works. If you reject global warming, you must be a conservative. Conservatives are racist, so when you reject global warming, you align with conservatives and therefor support racism. If you support racism, you must be a racist. I don't know what you would rather call this kind of idiocy, but for my part, calling it insanity is perfectly appropriate.

I am not exaggerating about this. This is why I contend that the left is far more guilty of herd behavior than the right is, and that's with considering the supposed sheep-like 'blind-following' of 'Trumpers'.

Do you know who you remind me of, Boy Blunder? You remind me of those clueless Trump fanatics that Jordan Klepper interviews and mocks for our daily amusement. Seriously.

Your absolution of Donald Trump for his crimes reminds me of family members we see on the news who claim their relative is innocent despite the fact the criminal has the victim's blood on his hands. Have you no conscience? Have you no brain?!
except as usual, you're lying.

You can not reproduce a single word of mine absolving Donald Trump of anything. I challenge you to do so. I merely asked for something that establishes that he has committed a crime. Calling him a criminal and implying that he has engaged in 'ongoing criminal activity' without due process having taken place, and without any of your 'undeniable proof' that you have repeatedly failed to even try to present, is patently wrong and un American.

WHEN he is in fact convicted of a criminal act, I will acknowledge that he is a criminal, even if in name only. I say that because if you convict someone of jaywalking when a thousand others jaywalk without fear of retribution, I'm going to have a hard time believing that that one jaywalker is a menace to society. But I'll wait until there really is undeniable evidence, and we'll see then.

Until then, you're just the same liar you've been all along.

Donald Trump's recent woes continue today. But he is not alone. His associates thus far who have been convicted of felonies include:
Allen Weissleberg
Paul Manafort
Rick Gates
Roger Stone
Steve Bannon
Michael Flynn
Michael Cohen (Trump's former attorney who went to federal prison for the same criminal scheme Donald Trump is being charged wth today)

So what does Trump's calendar look like for the month of April? Let's take a look:

THIS WEEK - He is in New York City today to be arraigned and arrested for the falsification of business records stemming from his hush-money payments to a porn star for an affair they had in 2006.

NEXT WEEK - He will be back in New York City to be deposed in the quarter-billion-dollar civil fraud suit the NY Attorney General has brought against him and his adult children.

THE WEEK AFTER THAT is when the FOX News-Dominion defamation case is supposed to go to trial. If the disclosures thus far for the trial are anything to go by, it will mean more scandalous headlines about some of the most influential right-wing media members in the country secretly hating on Trump and telling people behind the scenes how dumb and terrible and dishonest he is.

THEN THE WEEK AFTER THAT the E. Jean Carroll case goes to trial in which he has been accused of rape and then lying about it

Regarding today's arraignment, it is interesting that the judge in this case also handled the Trump business fraud case and is currently handling the Steve Bannon fraud case. Not only that but he has the perfect résumé for this case because before he became a judge he was the auditor at a real estate development firm. These charges today are believed to be about falsification of business records at Trump’s real estate development firm. Talk about some crappy luck for the Commander-in-trouble.

I'm guilty of declaring guilt on some of those, but any time I'm asked to provide some veracity, I readily admit that I have no proof, and that my accusation is just a belief....and that I can only hope that actual proof is going to come about.

For the record though. Hunter Biden has given us evidence of his father lying about his business dealings. Fauci has been caught double-talking involvement with Covid origins and complicity in supporting that research at the Wuhan lab.

Common sense dictates that some hospital administrators are guilty of cooking the Covid books, but I couldn't say which ones or what the extent would be.

News orgs are unquestionably guilty of partisanship and dubious reportage.

Pelosi is guilty of general deception, we've seen it.

The rest I have no opinion on. And no, no one was asking me but I could see it coming.

You lump all people together in groups just like you claim 'the left' does. You do exactly the same thing. I'm not exaggerating about that, either. You pull out your thesaurus, and start typing pages and pages of it.

You seem unwilling to admit that people are not down with this bullshit indictment.
There are tons of POLITICAL and LEGAL things going on continuously that people aren't down with. You act like politics and our legal system have been fair and just til now.

You're doing everything you can to legitimize it.
There's the drama queen! Lol, I'm not trying to do anything that a grand jury (ordinary American citizens) haven't deemed appropriate based on current laws.

Has anyone seen the reports of record donations since this info was announced?
Money donated to 'stop the steal' didn't really go where people hoped it would, the border donations went to yacht for Bannon buddies, when will people learn?

I hope that thesaurus helps you read this. Some of the words are more than two syllables. Sorry.

This mischaracterization of yours is not correct just because you want it to be. You seem to have no capacity for unbiased, rational thought. But I do have. For example, time after time I have brought clips of Bill Maher here when I thought he was exhibiting reason. Maher, as we all know, is an avowed lefty. There are other examples. But the left is the left and the right is the right, so lumping those groups separately from each other in general is only common sense.

So take the right. There are those who will only vote for Trump and there are those who will vote for anyone BUT Trump. There is proof of a division of political mindsets. The left, on the other hand, will vote for Biden as a cohesive liberal block because they are, as I say, guilty of herd behavior. They will support a party that nearly passed a bill allowing abortion right up to the point of birth. Massive student loan forgiveness. On and on. ANYthing that the party presents they will support with their votes, even though they can't all believe in these obscenities. That's why I say that IN GENERAL, the left is more guilty of herd behavior than the right is. But when exceptions like Maher appear, I don't shy from highlighting them.

The thought process regarding conservatives is just as I described it. When I informed my very intelligent liberal sister and her very intelligent liberal daughters that I was a conservative, they were shocked. 'But you aren't a racist moron' they said. That's typical. The right has been painted a certain way and the left buys it hook line and sinker. The left, on the other hand, mostly paints itself.

The guy I used to go to Carolina games with was as liberal as liberal can be, and we had a great time razzing each other and making points for our respective POV's, and he made some good ones. I have my beliefs but I have an open mind. You don't.

no, because the only thing you're celebrating is what you hope will be trouble for the guy you can't seem to evict from his home inside your skull. There are a lot of other instances of justice wanting to be applied that you seem to have missed.

And there you go again. Please provide examples of Trump's corruption and sadism. Or should I just go ahead and accept the accusation as a conviction as mindlessly as you do?

I have my beliefs but I have an open mind.
Do you have an open mind? I guess it would be ignoble to claim otherwise. "Open mind" is a subjective term. I'd say that open mind requires humility. You have no humility at all. Humility doesn't exist in your persona on this board. UNLESS... it occurs when interacting with someone you believe is in your tribe. Then it might make an occasional, begrudged cameo. Otherwise, it's back-and-forth... you name-call, they name-call. You deny and deflect and they deny and deflect. You call yourself a "winner" and call them a "loser." The insecurity of that, alone, is embarrassing enough.

Please provide examples of Trump's corruption and sadism. Or should I just go ahead and accept the accusation as a conviction as mindlessly as you do?
You would have made a great Nazi sympathizer in 1945 Berlin.

Quit accusing me of declaring Donald Trump a convicted felon. I never have and you know it. In fact, in a recent post, I affirmed the fact that he has never been convicted. This is all proof that your argument is weak and baseless.

This just in! Trump is an unethical immoral lying pos!

Well we already knew that. He paid money to conceal evidence of extra marital affairs. If anyone is denying that they’re just an idiot. But making the payments is not a crime. It’s also obvious he falsified business records to conceal the the payments. once again, the actions of an immoral fpos, but it’s only a misdemeanor and really who gaf. Where it gets interesting is that he’s accused of falsifying the business records to cover up another crime (making it a felony) a crime which is not clearly outlined in the indictment and seems very vague.

All in all a big nothing burger. Yes trump is a fpos throwing money around to control a false narrative. Imo just more in the mtn of evidence showing His character and conduct make him unfit to be president. But that does not make it right to go after him in this manner. To me the people involved show the same lack of character that trump is guilty of. Politcs……Smfh.

I agree with all of this. These charges will ultimately be dropped, but it will make the case of empathy for him even stronger among his followers. The result will be the Republican nomination for 2024 (his other legal troubles notwithstanding), which all but guarantees that either Biden or another Democrat wins the election.

lol, don't even try that weak shit. I have not only not accused you of declaring Trump a convicted felon, I have rather asked you to show why you in fact have accused him of having committed a crime when no crime has been established. If you can reproduce words of mine counter to that, I will apologize. If not, I'll just have to slap the liar label on you once more.

And at the same time, I must have missed you affirming that he has never been convicted, although if you did say that, it is immaterial....because everything you've said and that I've responded to is dozens of posts of yours trying to convince that mere allegations and charges and an indictment....and not a conviction...constitute his having committed a crime. If you could point me to you having said that he has not been convicted, or reproduce those words, it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I'll have to slap you with the liar label again.

Your response here is typical. Instead of supplying examples of the corruption and sadism you accuse him of, and as I asked for, you make idiotic remarks about me instead. Frankly, you ain't shit.

This is gonna make it harder to prosecute any future alleged crimes. Specifically the Georgia election interference which my initial reaction is a legit claim with evidence coming from bipartisan sources.

You are the Dunning-Kruger Effect personified. But, it's hard to spot in here because it's loaded with DKE.
...he said, having no idea what he was talking about. He just desperately needed some rationalization for his own inability to argue reasonably. LMAO.

It's been reported that Trump requested a mug shot be taken to benefit his campaign, but his request was turned down. So, instead his team created one.
