OOTB's Political Thread . ..

But apparently we now live in a country where saying stupid shit actually increases your odds of being elected President.
I just think with Bernie or any candidate it is helpful to consider what states he can win in that Trump won (Hillary largely avoided) in '16. I'm not saying Bernie can't win in any of these states.... he has massive appeal to the under-30 crowd, and in urban areas. These are the people / states he'll need to win over. States like Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania.

I've never made a political poast on here in my life, so nobody knows where I stand, and I plan on keeping it that way. I make my voice heard through my vote, and that's it. I choose to keep silent simply because it does nobody, including myself, any good to talk about it, and that's evident with all the noise that's been on this ****ing board over the past eternity.

Vote for me. I can actually deliver on the free strippers and blow. Just sayin...

I agree. I think Bernie is more popular in those areas because he actually addresses the issues of working class people, while Hillary comes across as an elitist that only wants the corporate money/support.

Bernie won Wisconsin in the primary, but its hard to use the primaries as a metric considering all of the shenanigans that took place with the DNC.

I don't support Trump's twitter but I do support many of his policies.

And many people support Bernie's policies. If people can ignore trump saying stupid shit every day, then they can probably ignore something stupid that Bernie said 20 years ago.

I can't deliver until I'm elected. You'll just have to trust me. I can even get you one with hairy nipples since that's what you're into.
I'm over that phase. She is still hot though. I'm a big boob guy however. Remember I like a hair free woman, we've had this discussion before.

I don't think as many people as you think support his ideas. Sure NY, Ca and the like do but not middle America. He'd be hard pressed to win any of the states Trump won especially the way the economy is going right now.

I would need to brush up on the numbers but the last I read, Americans seemed to support most of his policies. One major caveat is the impact on taxes, implying that much of the spending would need to come from reallocation at the current level of spending, as opposed to raising taxes to pay for it.

Why stop at Silent Sam? Hell man, the southern states themselves remind me of slavery back in the day, so I think we should all migrate to either the North or the West and get rid of all of the southern states.
I know this post is meant to be mostly a joke, but to me it seemed obvious that there was at least a little political slant to it.

I'm not so sure about that. Things like investing in education make the American Dream more accessible for more of the population. And our country was built by union labor, so I don't think his views there are antithetical to who we are. I guess I would need clarification on which policies you mean. Its a big platform, there's a lot to pick through.
Government isn't going to fix a lot of a problems. I don't have the time to delve into a policy debate today. He means well but his ideas will stifle American Innovation and Exceptionalism. They would never work on a large scale. I do think there needs to be reform and I do think some form of UHC is coming.

This is a like except for I want no part of UHC

The system is broken. It will come. Paying for insurance is going to cost more and more every year. We fuct up badly on this front. We used to be able to brag about superior HC and outcomes, but even that is beginning to fade.

I'm busy too, so fair enough. No need to get into the weeds. My simple counter would be that getting more people access to education would increase our innovation, because more people would have access to the means they need to innovate.

My only criticism, or caveat to that is... what KIND of "education" are they getting?

I got a shitload of indoctrination in school. And, it took a concerted effort on my part to resist it then, and shake-it-out afterward.

However, I do agree that improving one's intellectual capacity is a very good thing to do!

Good point. Lots of improvements need to be made at our universities to ensure its actually beneficial to attend them. Personally I think certain programs at tech schools should be tuition free for students who graduate high school with a certain GPA. If you want to study dance then that's on you, but we need more plumbers, electricians and welders. For now at least. Then if students who complete their two year program are qualified, they can get financial aid to finish a BA/BS at a university. Its cheaper and weeds out the people that aren't qualified to be there.

I think he's right. I'm very middle, I think you're very middle...other than that though I can't really think of anyone else. I don't think it's 95%...but maybe 75%

@strummingram @uncboy10, @prlyles represent the left.

@chickenhunter @gteeitup @Terror Beard @NoleSoup4U @nctransplant @cletusnow @UNC71-00 are the ones I can think of on the right.

@gteeitup being right is fake news.

he just poasted about newsom and bloomberg ffs...he’s not left either...he’s transpolitical or politi-bi.

As far as "Liberal" goes; Keep in mind that the Founding Fathers were extremely liberal... at the time. By liberal, I mean,it was a fairly brazen idea. A self-governing nation separate from the British Crown was hardly "conservative."
