Why would the uber wealthy, capitalist donor class support “socialist” candidates? Hard to imagine how they would benefit from policies/philosophy that is diametrically imposed to their interests.

There is nothing socialist about the Democratic Party. They conspired to rig two different primaries against Bernie and he isn’t nearly as far left as an actual socialist.

IIRC, Dodd-Frank was supposed to address some of those risks. But I believe parts of that were repealed or struck down. So if we had another bubble like that one, would we be any better prepared?

I don't know and that's why I was asking. I don't know what protections are in place and maybe more importantly, I don't know if there might be workarounds for someone inclined to use them. I just know I see someone trying to go off course in order to get lower income people in a home, and alarm bells start going off.

Why don't we let people keep as much of their money as possible instead of looking for ways to spend it for them. I delved into these not long ago and the upshot was that there were problems that made these reactors impractical. I hope the Chinese have solved the problems but I imagine that it is all still just experimental.

For any tl;dr type people, the video says that China has enough thorium to supply China's energy needs for 20,000 years. I would love to see us get off the petrotit for the most part, and nuclear power is a big part of that solution.
