OOTB's Political Thread . ..

Your opinion is ENTIRELY based on emotion and not facts.

Shocking.
Well, you may believe that. I don't. I believe that people hear and see exactly what they want to hear and see. They certainly focus on certain aspects of what they see and hear.

You insist that there was no indication of him having ever known her. He claims they ran in different social circles. However, she testified that she dated a friend of his who is cited 13 times in his calendar. I guess it depends on how you define "social circles" for that to be suspicious, and if you believe her or him.

I'm sure you believe Kavanaugh never told a lie in his testimony. From what I heard, and saw, he did lie. He even lied where it made no sense to lie and where it could be easily spotted. Claiming he had no prior ties to Yale, and he got in because he busted his tail. Well, he was a legacy because his grandfather went to Yale. That seems like a pretty sizable prior connection to me.

None of it matters to the sycophants. They believe what they’re told to believe.

Well, I used that example on purpose. Technically, he's NOT a "legacy" according to Yale. However, if my grandfather attended Yale, I'd certainly feel a prior connection and/or association.

I was watching a compilation of Kavanaugh's testifying to members of Congress/Senate over the years. That fvcker should have his own personal chair. It goes way back the the Bush administration.

He’s got a long history of perjuring himself under oath, dating back to the early 2000’s.

Just find one link to one person who will go on the record to say that Kavanaugh and Ford ever met. Just one.

And no, he wasn’t a legacy. He did graduate first in his class though, which must have been tough with all the drinking, blacking out and raping he was doing on a daily basis.

Feelings, not logic, dictate the behavior of you and your boys. No wonder Chick loves you so.

I know lying makes you feel good though, so don’t stop now.

If, lying makes one feel good, then 45 must be feeling absolutely ecstatic on a daily basis . . top of the world kinda joy.

Can you imagine if a white guy said that about Michelle Obama?

Lordy, that guy would get crucified.
To be fair every time I look at Melania, what she's wearing is more important to me as well. I like to think about what piece of her clothing I would take off of her first.

I believe Keith Koegler has offered to, and there were seven other people who were never asked to, or not allowed to, "go on the record", but were aware of the assault.

Where’s the link? And why weren’t these people paraded around by the media?

Are you trying to tell me CNN was covering for Kav?

ETA- just read up on this guy. He was saying that Ford told him about this. He wasn’t there and has no idea if Ford and Kav even know each other. The reason he wasn’t paraded around by the media is because he has no first hand knowledge of anything- he only knows what Ford told him.

Thanks for playing. Please come again.

He’s just high on winning
Oh, he's winning. He's left with pandering to people that he has no feeling for, or interest in, because they're the only ones left who will blindly support him. He's left with the people of Montana, Mississippi and West Virginia who love to Trump That Bitch and Lock Her Up!

Meanwhile, the people he spent his life trying to gain approval from, and desperately wanted their approbation, see him for what he is, and has always been... a con man, a charlatan. He's a pussy-grabber who believes he's entitled to that behavior because of his reputation. He cheats on his wife while his wife is pregnant and the pays them to stay quiet. Then he denigrates them for their profession after they blow the whistle on him.

He champions dictators like Kim Jong Un. He's creating tariffs and trade policies that are going to sink this economy just like the lead-up to the Great Depression. He's lost his ass in his professional life, and maintained a presence because of his audacious personality. He's always been about the veneer, the presentation, the exterior. But, on the inside? It's hollow.

TL DR.

He’s winning and anyone who wants to work or is invested in the market (or depends on pension funds which are invested in the market) are winning too.

All we are doing is winning.

You asked why no one will come forward. They will. No one has refuted anything, they merely claim they don't remember. That's an easy-out, and may be truthful. Judge is his main alibi, and he was clearly absent. Judge should have been forced to appear. Bart O'Kavanaugh has some 'splaining to do.

I wouldn't want to read it if I were you either. It's not flattering.

I agree with most of your post, but can you elaborate on this? I'd love to know how it's going to sink the economy like the lead up to the great depression.

Enjoy the veneer. That's all that is there. And, don't think that there will not be consequences for it. No, no, no... scratch that. Insist that there won't be any consequences for it. That will make the consequences all the more emphatic.

Trump is promoting an isolationist-type of general disposition. This America-First crap is intended to appeal to EMOTIONS, but the actual policies, once they play-out, could be disastrous.

It's easier to just offer what's been written:
"In the 1920s, the US pursued isolationism in foreign policy and rejected participation in international organizations like the League of Nations. America First was America alone, except for financial agreements like the Dawes and Young Plans aimed at ensuring that our “free-loading” former allies could pay back their war loans. At the same time, high tariffs crippled international trade, making the repayment of those loans especially difficult. The country witnessed an increase in income disparity and a concentration of wealth at the top, and both Congress and the courts eschewed regulations to protect against the self-inflicted calamities of free enterprise run amok. The government also adopted a highly restrictionist immigration policy aimed at preserving the hegemony of white Anglo-Saxon Protestants against an influx of Catholic and Jewish immigrants. (Various measures barring Asian immigration had already been implemented between 1882 and 1917.) These policies left the country unable to respond constructively to either the Great Depression or the rise of fascism, the growing threat to peace, and the refugee crisis of the 1930s."

You're kinda comparing apples and oranges when you compare today's economy to the economy then, but thanks for the reply. And for the record, I'm not a fan of the tariffs either.

I realize that it's not the 1920's.

I said "it could be disastrous." However, there are similar patterns. And, this bubble is going to burst. They always do. Given Trump's past inadequacy in business, why would you trust him with all of our playing chips? I sure as hell wouldn't. But... emails and Benghazi.

I don't trust him or any other politician. The president's power over the economy is overrated though. Unless he does something completely ridiculous as far as the economy goes I'm not too worried about it.

Oh, it is definitely overrated. No doubt. I just think this hand he's playing with these tariffs and this entire isolationist rhetoric are harmful to the prosperity of the citizens of the country, as a whole. He's not content to just be a loudmouth, insensitive prick. He wants to actually pretend he knows what he's doing and try to implement his brilliance which are failures.

From what I've seen from past Republican tenures, they are always responsible for unscrewing the bolts keeping things together, charging the card, and then pretending to be for small government and no spending. The Reagan cronies fvcked up big time and it crashed. the Bush Jr. cronies did the same thing. The shit gets old after a while. The wealthy always come out just fine, of course.

So is he loved by the 1% for all his “put the rich first” policies, or is he hated by them because he’s a conman?

Can’t have it both ways.

I'm talking about the people of his native NY who he attempted to be contemporaries with at earlier stages in his career. And, any other group of business, government, financial dignitaries who are in places of distinction- domestically and worldwide. He's got cronies and hangers-on who will gladly exploit his position, but that comes with the job, not the person in it.

Don't try and confuse "the 1%" here. I never said anything about the wealthy, ruling class loving him because he makes them wealthy. That's never been the case and you know it (or, I assume you do). The wealthy 1% are going to be fine with or without him! They never needed him, or anyone else. That's institutionalized wealth that will always be safe, and will always remain intact. They will flourish no matter who is president. I'm talking about their respect and approval as a contemporary. Their bottom line is never in jeopardy, dude.

He's lost the respect (if he ever had it) of all those he used to love to court. And, look at how he was laughed at in the UNSC. He's a total flake. All he has now are the people he's never had anything to do with. He's not part of the Salt Of The Earth/working-class demographic that flock to cheer for him in Mississippi and Montana. But, they serve a purpose for him now! They feed his ego. They're all he has left.
