Orlando Night Club Shooting

he could be gay...don't be shocked

and that's bs you're spinning about the ar15...it's an assault rifle for f sake...you guys know it.
Yes. He probably was. He seemed a tad TOO much bothered by two Gays being affectionate.
He was probably repressing his homosexual feelings.

He did not say he was a Christian.
The photo you replied to, this guy:

44223b51f44d94d85bb0617296f5-are-there-any-secular-arguments-against-gay-marriage.jpg

The guy above is a Christian (or was, before he died). He's from the Westboro Baptist Church.

Jesus said it best .................................
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

How is this relevant?

How does that guy holding up those signs equate to killing people?
It's relevant to demonstrate how the thought and attitude that homosexuals are to be held in contempt, and hated, is shared by extremist members of both religions. Is it "the same as" shooting up a club? Of course not. Is the attitude the same? Yes.

No, the attitude is not the same. One attitude includes mass murder. One attitude involves hateful words.

Fine... have it your way. The attitude is i-fvcking-dentical. The degree they carry it is different.

No it isn't. A modern military grade assault rifle has selective firing modes with semi-automatic, 3 round burst, and fully automatic. Automatic weapons like that have been restricted in the U.S. since 1934. You have to have a class 3 weapons permit to own one.

No, the attitude is not identical, nor is it even similar.

One attitude thinks that mass murder is the solution. The other attitude thinks that God will judge.

When the Lt. Gov of Texas tweets a bible verse about "reaping what you sow" after a mass shooting, its pretty safe to say that he has an attitude towards the LGBT community that is at the very least similar to the shooter. Two people can have the exact same attitude, and act on it in completely different ways.

Have you really not taken the time to read up on the story behind the LT Gov's tweet?

I read what his press secretary said. Surely you aren't going to believe that? lol

He has stood up against gay rights his entire career. Even if there was any reason to give him the benefit of the doubt, he is still a perfect example of how anti-LGBT attitudes are alive and well in the GOP, if not a central part of their platform.

& There have been too many tweets and facebook posts echoing those sentiments to count.

Just read what he said. I linked it

And even if you take his statement in the worst possible light, he didn't advocate killing anyone. Therein lies the difference, and it is stark.

But the reality is you want to make it political and castigate Republicans. And that is why the vast majority of us on this board understand you to be part of the problem with the current state of affairs, not any sort of a voice of reason.

The attitude is that homosexuals are to be shamed, scorned, hated and held in contempt. The guy in Orlando took the attitude further and killed a bunch of people. I'm sure the Westboro Baptist Church was appalled by his murdering spree, weren't they?

No? They weren't? They were pleased to find out he killed them all?

That's because their attitude is EXACTLY THE SAME.

Provide one link where the Westboro Baptist Church called for gays to be murdered.

You are full of bullshit assumptions as usual. You are the very person whom you seek to demonize.

If Republicans didn't want it to get political maybe they shouldn't have spent, and continue to spend so much time and effort trying to legislate the suppression of LGBT rights.

Really? You are equating civil rights of LGBTs to advocating mass murder?

Grow up son, or go to bed.

When exactly did I try to equate the two genius?

Congratulations, your party isn't as bad as ISIS by comparison. You should definitely be proud of that.

Obviously the WBC is despicable, but again, where have they ever called for people to be murdered? Still waiting on that link.
WTF do you think that is??? At least we squeezed "the WBC is despicable" out of you. I fear it won't be long before you'll forego that ATTITUDE.

They celebrate the murders, and you're managing to defend them. You're priceless. Maybe you can qualify as an officer in Trump's SS when he's elected.

and lest anyone think I am defending the WBC, I'm not. Those people are awful.

But there is a difference between being awful and calling for people to be killed. Most of us realize this, but most of us, thankfully, aren't Strum or Boy.

You absolutely tried to equate the 2. It's right there.

You two should go on the road together.

So because you can't actually refute fact, you go to pitiful memes and insults.

Pitiful.
When you managed to defend the Westboro Baptist Church, I've basically come to the end. You're basically giving them a pass because they haven't said "Hey! Kill more!" That's pitiful. You've outdone yourself.

jesus you're a buffoon. I haven't defended anything- only pointed out your pathetically faulty logic.

Can you refute or have I beat you down to the point of making Hitler references? Give it a try Strummy- we all know how smart you think you are.

No I didn't. I refuted your assertion that attitudes towards the LGBT community isn't political. LGBT hate exists exclusively on the political right in the US. People like you want to argue against gay rights, but you dont want to have to own up to that attitude when some nutjob takes it too far.

Pointing out the difference between one party advocating mass murder and another party explaining mass murder after the fact is not defending either party.

Try to keep up Strummy.

First of all kiddo, I have always been in favor of gay rights. And I am pretty sure people across the political spectrum are capable of homophobia.

Do you still make fun of minorities?

The Westboro Baptist Church are a Christian organization. Now, if you want to whitewash their behavior as being more acceptable than the murderer... fine. But, to insist that their attitudes towards gays are "not similar at all" to the murderer is just plain ignorant, and you know better. These people revel in the death of homosexuals.
