Who cares what the haters think anyhow!I think that at least two of the three bigs will contribute next season! I expect Huff and Brooks to be regular players and possibly even earn starter level minutes by ACC time! I expect Manley to develop a little slower, but this is mainly due to injury related setbacks. I love the incredible heart he has already shown by coming back from devastating leg injuries. I have had three knee surgeries and I know how much pain and work it takes to come back! This is the same thing I saw in Meeks as he transformed his body! I knew then he would be a valuable contributor and I expect Manley will as well!

If TB returns, I still expect contributions for the youngsters, but only one really NEEDS to be starter caliber at that point.

The purpose of the forum is discussion; the purpose of haters is to trash Tar Heels. To me they are totally different things.

BTW: These forums DO impact the court because both players and recruits read them so they impact who is actually on the court!

This is discussion.

Just curious, why do you lump Zion and Langford together? They are two very different mindset type kids.

Because this sounds like yet another case of a top ranked recruit with people claiming he is different from the others, keeps us on his final list and still ends up at another school, likely UK or Duke.

All I hear about Langford & Family is that they like Roy. But let's be honest, how many parents haven't said they liked Roy?? This is always a common trait.

Funny part is that 247 has him divided among 4-5 schools, we're not even in consideration. Like I always say, I'll believe it when I see it. But if we have to go up against UK & Duke, I'm not naive enough to bet on our chances.

Again, we get it. You don't think any of our bigs are going to contribute much for a couple of years at least. We get it!

I would love to see these internet experts actually coach a team. And I'm talking any level. The local YMCA, middle school, anyone.

The popcorn and first row seat would be money well spent.

Sounds like a little jealousy?

Really? Do you know how easy it is to be a coach at the AAU level? Literally anyone can start their own team.

I promise you, of all the emotions that come up when he says he's a coach, jealousy is not one of them.

What I love about this is the kid seems sincerely HAPPY to be a Tar Heel! Contrast this against his announcement to play for Miss St earlier where most seemed to feel his heart was not in that former announcement. Just seems at peace and happy with this now and that is what I love to see from our guys!

For the record I never coached AAU --- not that there aren't good guys who do, as well as the not so good and everything in between --- just not my cup of tea.

As for your "emotions", I'm not sure why you would feel anything. It is what it is. The better question might be why you feel the need to take random shots at someone or to continually argue just for the sake of arguing.

You rehashed something like two weeks old, I had long forgotten about it.

And if you clearly couldn't see it was a joke then that's on you man. You talk about being a coach a lot, who cares, just own it.

The issue was contemporaneous, but no matter.

And if it was a joke, ok... I hope you appreciated the one in return.

Joey Baker is very close to Jalek , but UNC's indifference to him according to people in his camp could very well come in to play if Roy ever offers.

I gotta admit, I do get befuddled as to why Roy invest so much into guys that would be exponentially tougher to land than guys that might be a small step down but would die for a Carolina offer.

The lack of interest in Baker at this point is astonishing to me, considering with how well it could've played out for us already.

Dude's already lining up visits to Louisville and Kentucky while we slept behind the wheel.

I can't understand why we're slow playing Baker, yet an offer is out to Wendell Moore. Makes no sense to me. We offer the kid who grew up a Dook fan and slow play the one who seems to really like UNC. We've seen this often over the years with Roy. I think he just likes a challenge.

In that 2019 class, I think Roy is going to have several targets in 4s and 5s. Especially considering how quickly the incoming frosh bigs come along, Roy may be able to prioritize his choices. Moore is a heck of a talent, I like Baker but where he stacks up vs other kids that Roy feels he has a good shot with is a hard call, it is really early for that 2019 class. Not really going to worry about a 2019 kid before we are done with our 2018 class. Let things play out some guys, not like Roy is not in communication with Joey, give it some time to play out.

I've tried to to tell them, but.....

Joey looks and sounds like the type of kid that can resist the big-head syndrome. I bet he understands the Roy way and will earn his offer with no problem! Not sensing a prima donna kid that has to have an offer at birth or he will vote you off the island! If he continues to develop and grow, he will get his chance!

Bolded cannot be understated.

It's hair-pulling frustrating to watch Roy make these offers to kids who, as clear as day, are not coming to UNC. Especially when they have one foot in the door at Dook or elsewhere. We waste so much time on those guys. Talking about the Zion's and Langford's of the world.

2019 already looks to be no different. One offer out to a Dook fan, and one to a guy who hasn't even left Minnesota yet.

We continuously talk about we want guys who want to "be in UNC blue", then give them 2nd rate treatment.

I've tried to to tell them, but.....

Lol we've "been in contact" with him for months now. This is simply code for "not offered yet". At some point in time, these kids start making other plans, regardless of how they feel about the school in question. We've never given him a solo visit. The only time we've seen him is when others were playing.

Reminds me of Matt Coleman in 2017, only a much worse loss.

there are small forwards -better than Baker..according to rankings-if Baker goes elsewhere and a better small forward is signed..I wonder if there will be "head scratching and heartache"

Not sure what you mean here. That if we don't offer some people will care, but shouldn't, or that folks won't care, but should?

Better player is better choice all other things (attitude, willing to commit to UNC etc) being equal. Joey may have his proponents like most other players do who will wonder if we left out a good instate player, but second guessing happens with just about all players on our radar to one extent or another - whether we offer or not, whether we get them or not.

I trust Roy to bring in the best players who fit and who are willing to commit to UNC..

Roy is still recruiting Devon Dotson, or does this writer not know what he is talking about? He states Dotson could come down to State and UNC?

That's news to me --- no offer --- but Dotson has always been interested in UNC.

Roy went all-in on Jalek as JB's successor, thus no offer for Coleman in the '17 class. But he also has to be aware Jalek could be 2AD. I know we're looking hard at Hagans in the next class, but nothing for '18 (if you don't count Leaky as a PG, and I don't).

Dotson was one of the first people we offered in 2018. But after Coby hopped on the offer, we stopped recruiting him.

They had an exchange of subliminal tweets to each other after his commitment.

EDIT: In regards to the PG in 2017 part, we offered Sexton and Weatherspoon, but not Coleman. Bad decision IMHO.

Never officially cut us, but he's not coming here. Likely headed to Kansas now. One of the better recruiting situations we've had in years.
