Luckily a calm, cool and collected post like yours portrays you and other UNC fans in a good light.

I'll take it a step further: IMO Jalek is the best PG in this class, and that includes Duval, but since AAU is where these kids tend to get "rated", he got lumped in with prototype 2s. Had he devoted to full-time PG last summer there wouldn't have even been a shadow of a doubt of him being a Burger Boy and you could've moved that "ranking" another 10-15 spots up the list.

True statement.
Jalek could be OAD depending on JB's return.

What is lost that saying every AAU coach I know could mean 20, 1, 0 whatever.

Thus, making that statement means absolutely nothing.

Like, I could say every NBA coach I know agrees with me that seventh woods should be our starting PG next year. And it means literallt jack shit.

If you wish to tout connections to bolster an argument, make it tangible and not air. That is my viewpoint. I would be much more interested in your comment, gary, if you said "hey, at least 3 AAU coaches have told me Jalek is a top PG and should have been PG all year". That relates more and gives a good barometer of exactly what you are saying. And, it gives me a better idea of what I should expect out of your comment.

Just a thought.
Didn't know I needed to take inventory, and hell, I could've left that part out because I know what I see. So here is my personal position on the matter as concisely as I can put it. If you like it, fine. If not, fine.

And BTW, the number in this case is 5 --- again, not that it matters.

I'm sure Gary knows a lot more AAU coaches than you do. Fact is, you misquoted what he said and are now trying to backtrack. Admit you were wrong and cut your losses.

The threads remain wonderfully on point for me since I have all the trolls on ignore!

I really hope TB comes back for what could be another special year with just a few lucky breaks! I think a third deep run, possibly another FF, might just erase all the "Stuff" we have suffered for the last 12 years for me!

Returnees: JB & TB

Joinees: Brooks & Knox

UNC rules again!
(how's that math looking: Kentuck, puke, and Moo?)

I think we should assume he is NOT coming back. He will likely get a first round grade. Even if it is late first, that is guaranteed money. IF he comes back it's a bonus.

Rumors on social media about Roy talking to a big who's a grad transfer. Anybody have a name or details? Not a good sign for Bradley sticking around.

Edit: Saw it on TOS. Exciting times.

Exciting? lol not really the word I'd use for it.

How is it not? We just got Brooks, still in the running for Knox, and now we're finally back in the transfer market. This board is often just endless posts about our potential lineups next season at this point in the year.

Thinking more along the lines of losing Bradley and having a kid from William and Mary replace him. Exciting isn't the word that I equate with that scenario.

People should keep in mind that we're certainly going to lose our 2 best front court players in Hicks and Meeks. And we didn't land a top 100 big who's likely to come in and replace those guys, so we're moving to the transfer market.

Bradley could very well be gone tomorrow, but to me it also says Roy isn't so comfortable to turning over a front court starting position to Manley or Huffman as of yet.

Not to mention Bradley and Whitman don't play the same position.

I'd take that young man in a heartbeat. Decent athleticism and outstanding footwork. Our young bigs could learn a lot about footwork from this guy. Get him Roy. Would I prefer to have Tony back? Sure, but if not...

Perhaps you should think more along the lines that Whitman wouldn't be a replacement for Bradley... more of a potential 1-year experienced hand up front to help us thru this season. Where he comes from is immaterial, it's a question of can he give quality minutes and help the team? I'm sure he could, and he may well now be less of a priority anyway with Brooks aboard. That of course remains to be seen.

I get what you guys are saying. But, I doubt Roy would even be looking at this kid if he wasn't a bit desperate. I'm picturing tony leaving and a frontcout of

Manley
Huff
Maye
Brooks
Whitman.

Yeah. I'll leave it at that.

Bradley has not even declared yet. Slow your roll.

I dont like the word "desperate" but I find it difficult to believe that Whitman is not being looked at as a possible replacement for Bradley leaving one year earlier than the staff projected. Or maybe the staff contacted Whitman just in case Brooks went elsewhere.

Yeah pretty much what I was thinking.

Do people just skim posts? I said IF Tony leaves.
If he doesn't then It changes a lot obviously.

Except you didn't. You said "I'm picturing Tony leaving" and that you felt Roy might be desperate for looking at a 1 year graduate. Has zero to do with skimming posts.

I dont like the word "desperate".......
Yeah, to me 'desperate' is the coach who digs into the dirty bag of tricks to lure recruits.... maybe stuff like using an assistant to spread negative recruiting ("school xyz is getting the death penalty" etc)
Or maybe desperate is the new coach who hires the dad of a top recruit and then let's the top recruit go out and try recruit other unsigned players. Or even the coach who keeps signing 5* players but never plays them!
Roy doesn't seem desperate... I've always had the impression that he likes to use every scholarship in his budget - either filling a need with a grad transfer, or rewarding a senior walk-on.

I'm
Picturing tony leaving (I have no clue either way if he's staying or not)= IF
Context is everything and I'm pretty sure you know exactly what I meant.

And I stand by what I said, if Roy is thinking tony is leaving he probably doesn't have as much confidence as all of you in these frosh bigs,(in the sense that they probably all won't contribute right away) so in a sense it is a desperate move to go after a kid fro William and Mary. Nowhere in my post did I say Roy is a desperate recruiter or anything like that. More that it's a desperate situation where he probably doesn't want to be stuck with 3 lower 100 ranked bigs and Luke maye.

One of the BEST posts ever!

From everything g I have heard Whitman was an I Durance policy but my guy now says Bradley is waffling on coming back. Like Gary said earlier negative nancies are in his dad's ear so we shall see. The good guys apparently are they big to explain to dad that he would be a top 19 pick next yr . So far dad isn't listening

Speaking of context, You were countering that us going after a 1 year transfer was not exciting because it signals we're losing Bradley. That was never my point to begin with, which means your point is inapplicable. This really isn't this deep

Except I've already said that. Roy probably doesn't expect these guys to come in and be ready day 1. I know I don't. That's why he was looking for someone experienced, who's already played in the college system for 3 years. The only other option would be another 3 star player "diamond in the rough", seeing that most of the top 100 have committed or are way too entrenched in their recruiting to get involved with.

Obviously losing your 2 best front court players isn't exactly easy to replace this late in the game, so if that's what you consider a desperate situation, so be it. 2017 was obviously not our year in the big department. Having a 1 year option that could keep us afloat until our next recruiting period that has already started off strong is a great option. It's better than taking another gamble on players that will more than likely not be ready day 1.

And like already mentioned, he was getting interest before Brooks committed, so it was likely he was his backup plan, not Bradley's.

If Bradley wants to go, we should support him. He helped us win a championship and has a late 1st round grade.

Everyone saying negative people are telling him to go or that he isn't ready is just being ignorant imo.

It is his choice and if he goes; I fully support his decision. He just won a championship.

someone else's choice is a dangerous thing..example Mr Brooks(Miss St) and son...Tony chose UNC without my help and will do the same on this matter..either way he has to be a Man work hard/study smart and choose without "looking back"

Yeah. I'll leave it at that.

You put them Bigs in with some dern good backcourt combos and you just might get surprised.

But you would rather whizz and moan about who we don't have.
