Both sound good. If we could only get 1, which would be better? Looks like both have 2 years left. Withers's stats are better last year (but not the year before).

Withers shot less (224 FGA vs 304 for Ingram) but took a higher percentage from deep (43% vs 37% for Ingram).

Withers's 6'9 size suggests he might be more of a 4/3, while Ingram's 6'7 might point more to 3/4, but that's just guessing, and can you trust the numbers?

Cadeau
RJ
Ingram
Withers
Armando

Looks like a solid, balanced team to me. But is it what HD wants to do?
Again, it's not a video game.

If Ingram plus withers equals no Jackson......???

Plus, if both are two-year players, what does that say for Ian Jackson in 2024. Probably would be tough to unseat two senior starters, even if only in their second year at UNC.

In my fantasy land, both Cadeau and Jackson come after AAU and join Ingram.
IF we get BOTH Ingram and Withers, I would LOVE to be able to bring in a guy like Will Baker to back Bacot up, I just am not ready to really see Jalen as ready for big minutes at the 5, I want to be but I am taking a more cautious approach. With BOTH Ingram and Withers I strongly feel Jack needs to stay in 24. Develop his body, tune that jumper in a little bit more, then come in and battle Powell and who we get at the 3 this season, hopefully Ingram. I see a need to back up Bacot as our most important remaining need, assuming we do get both Ingram and Withers, even more important than Cadeau reclassing IMHO. Yes, I think Cadeau is on the way to play for us next season, yes I do but there is a hole behind Bacot that I don't know that Withers, High, or Jalen can fill, at least fill next season.

What am I missing about Jackson? I thought he was a 6'4 SG. Why would he care if we get Ingram and Withers?

Wouldn't his competition for PT come mainly from Wilcher and Dunn?

Even if HD plays a good bit of 3-guard lineups, do we have enough PT for everybody?

Hard to imagine Baker accepting a bench role, but maybe he'd be OK as long as he gets starter minutes. 12-15 at center plus 10-15 at PF maybe?

But most people here don't seem to want 2 bigs in at the same time, and HD hasn't shown any interest in that either. Still, Baker is pretty darn good, so maybe HD would go retro for a year to have him.

UNC was not a player in this one, but the kid with maybe the highest upside, Kel'el Ware just chose Indiana for his sophmore campaign.

Athletic 7 footer, good get for IU.

I've seen reports a couple of places that make it sound like we are all in for Ingram. Haven't seen anything suggesting the same level of interest in Withers.

Anybody know?

Center Will Baker is not a recruiting target for UNC

Jackson is closer to 6'6" and with all our guards, he would slot in nicely at the 3

Ingram’s shooting numbers are very concerning, and his low FT% is often a clue that they may not get much better.

He shot a better 3pt % than most of the guys transferring out, while being the focal point of opposing defenses. Also our assist numbers last season were pathetic. We could use his passing and playmaking.

I will admit, I don't like the poor ft % at all. He is playing at Stanford with very little pressure.
Maybe he needs the added pressure of playing at a Blueblood to make jis cream rise?

Not transfer news but didn’t wanna start a new thread. Joey Baker hiring an agent to start his pro career……really

I’m getting nervous about the lack of Tar Heel commitments. I’m impatient by nature but this is bringing out the worse in me.
I’m sure Hubert is going to land a couple but it will be interesting to see how well he recruits after this past season happened. Previously he was able to sell hopes and dreams and then a national championship run. That’s a much easier sale than not making the tournament with the preseason number 1 team and the negative recruiting other coaches will be doing against him.

Like I said before not using the bench is gonna hurt us in the portal

The portal is becoming the equivalent of professional sports free agency. The players love it and fully taking advantage of it.

That would be a great get IMO, just not sure about the fit.
If he cant get a good NIL deal from Syracuse with that billionaire booster they have, I have zero faith UNC can even compete based on what we have seen so far with their NIL deals

Oh yeah, cool, what field of employment is his agent going to be working with him on? I hear he is especially talented at splinter removal caused by overly worn benches, it may take an agent to figure out how to turn that in to a career?

Filopowski returning, but Mgbako not coming, is certainly an interesting couple of decisions for the Dookies as well.

As someone has already mentioned, Jack is closer to 6'6" now, kids grow, he could end up even longer by the time he gets here. He is a wing (3) all day long in my book, feel free to see that differently, just sharing what I see.

Would you rather have Cap Jack or a guy like Ingram starting next season for us? Now, I get it, first instinct may be to say Jack but would you really? Jack is a slasher type guy, his deal is finish at the rim and has that really quick first step to get there where others may not. But he is not a knock down jump shooter, he isn't really that catch and shoot threat right now. Not saying he can't shoot but saying that isn't his strong point. I think he needs to add weight and I think he needs to tune in that jump shot for more consistency because it is so much harder to slash in the college game and not pick up the charge call. I take Ingram over Jack for NEXT season, Just my opinion.
