Yes this was funny. DevilDJ's life work (the 80 page thread he devoted to how badly UNC would be punished) is now locked - HAHA. That'd be like if Leonardo Da Vinci was a few brush strokes away from completing the Mona Lisa and someone just came in and ripped the things to shreds. Poor bastard must be heartbroken.

That is so good. Seriously- the dude has wasted hundreds, if not thousands, of hours on UNC. What a fuggin loser.

Another gem. Apparently UNC bribed the NCAA Enforcement Staff:

Talked with this Ram's Club [member] again last night. When he looked at me he just had a sly grin on his face. His words to me were basically for 30 plus years he had been telling me they could buy there way out of anything. He ask me if I could pocket 2 to 3 million dollars would I really care if a team other than UNC got away with cheating. I said no, and he said then why do think anybody at the NCAA cares if UNC gets punished for it?

Bottom line is, as he stated there are only a few people who know exactly how much money that UNC/Rams Club have, and also have access to. I posted this yesterday, and he basically confirmed it last night. A lot of people at the NCAA have gotten really rich lately, and any lawsuits that result in the NCAA having to settle with money will be paid for by the cheats. BIG MONEY WINS, and UNC HAS A LOT OF IT!!!!!!!

^^ DUDE I WAS JUST COMING HERE TO POST THIS ONE LOLLER!

It cracks me up how they think the Rams Club is like the fuggin Templar Knights combined with the Nazi SS combined with ninjas. Nevermind the fact that the Rams Club is practically pleading for new members because the ranks are so small.

LOLOL if anyone actually believes that post. I'd wager that at least like ~20% of each UNC graduating class care zilch about UNC sports, yet PP is convinced that every single UNC alum and fan is bankrolling our victory in the 'scandal.' LOL.

I just want to apologize to those who I have let down.

Without getting into too many details, mid/late last year I had to "detach" myself from a certain level of activity within this whole ordeal.
I placed my trust in two different people who supplied information. One, it appears, was being given incorrect info. The other was truly an insider (not at unc, though), but ultimately was not as far "in the loop" as he believed he was.

As I received information, I did not vet the information as I should have. (and all of this is aside from the epic twitter hoax)
Because I was occupied with other issues, I took those two people's information at face value and continued to share with the board.
The primary reason I continued to share was in an attempt to keep spirits up, and because I honestly did not expect the NCAA to re-write the NOA in such a drastic manner.

I realize that people put their trust in me, and ultimately that I let them down.

The "kraken" was a term/idea made up by people other than me.
What I once alluded to dealt with the fudging of admissions by several state universities. It would have been an embarrassment -- since it encompassed a few relatives of some important people -- but nothing more.

Again, all I can do is apologize.
Trust me, I fully understand those who choose to ignore it.
No one is more disappointed in what happened than me.

Don't you know? Monied and powerful UNC alums have thoroughly infiltrated the industries of banking & finance, law, energy, education, healthcare, real estate, sports & entertainment, and even funeral services. Our PR forces are everywhere, disseminating pro-UNC propaganda in both overt and subliminal fashion at every opportunity.

They really are pouring themselves into this thing.
I love all their posters offering condolences to those who have spent the last six years of their lives dredging up dirt on UNC. It's sort of the same pity you would hear for the man who devoted years of his life on R&D for the cigarette umbrella:

Obama. Emmert. Every U.S. Senator and House of Representative. Roswell, NM (circa 1947). The IRS. John Skipper. Jay Bilas. Dick Vitale. These are just a few of UNC's many, many plants.

We are everywhere and we are nowhere all at once. We are all visible yet invisible. We are all-powerful yet our impact cannot be seen until after the fact. We are ubiquitous. We are everything.

This whole "kraken" thing is the best subplot in the whole thread. Obviously I'm no expert on the saga on their board, but it seems like this Manalishi guy claimed to have evidence to release if indeed this situation ended up with no punishment to UNC. It seems like he lead others to believe that this information would potentially bring down NCSU as well - but that it would undoubtedly bring down UNC. Everyone seems set to release that info now (which it appears he has now admitted is nothing) and will gladly sacrifice NCSU in the attempt to bring down UNC

The Radar conspiracy theorists have nothing on the PP conspiracy theorists. They're truly next level. Like the below guy who is convinced that all of the "insiders" that were feeding them information, were all plants trying to distract PP and lull them into a state of contempt - so they could continue doing shady UNC deals in the background without anyone being the wiser. LOL - ok pal, you and your Pack Pride fellow yahoos would have been able to catch them in the act of shady deals if it wasn't for the plants feeding you bad info.

I still hold some serious stock in the belief that whoever was feeding you information was telling you EXACTLY what they wanted you to pass along here - keep the whole of Pack nation eating out of your (their) hand with the information that would make uncch's enemies happy.

All the while, the back room dealings needed to make this basically all go away could take place, while PackPride sat comfortably, "knowing" that just punishment would eventually be handed down.

Those of us who worried were labeled traitors, heel lovers and PR plants. I still wish I was wrong.

Don't forget about MJ. Everyone saw him getting cozy with the NCAA higher ups at the championship game. It's obvious the deal was sealed during halftime.

My dear Lord in Heaven. These people truly are psycho. I'd feel bad for them if they weren't so damn annoying/tiresome/mean-spirited/contributory in harm toward Carolina and its alum, fans, and students.

Please remember that every IS course Rashad M took could have been legitimate as far as content and rigor with a real professor. He was ineligible because he took more than what UNC policy allowed him to take. Therefore he was ineligible. This is something that if presented properly, the COI can understand. Each semester a student must pass 6 hours towards his degree and every fall/spring he must pass 18 hr towards a degree. If he fails to do either, he is ineligible the next semester.

I think the NCAA has now detached itself in the Academic Rules of the Universities completely. It is apparent they will not dictate the contact hours, how rigorous a course shall be or how many paper classes/ independent study classes a student shall take. They will pass that responsibility to the Accreditation agency (SACS in this case). It will be up to SACS to enforce the very rules that UNC has created that were submitted for their original accreditation. Those paper classes and independent study classes DO NOT MEET UNCs own requirements. That is part of the reason they are on probation from SACS. So now it all lays at SACS feet for the future of college academics and athletics. Do nothing and schools like UNC will just give an A for a 3 hour credit course for writing your name. UConn REALLY REALLY has to feel stupid for missing the APR number by having REAL college courses for their basketball players.SACS will give them a clean bill of health too.Don't be so sure about that. This is the largest fake class and bogus degrees created from these fake classes ever presented to SACS outside a for profit pay for a diploma company.

I would love for Prof. Wolf to comment on this angle.another year of probation doesn't really do anything, does it? Taking away their accreditation would, but that won't happen. The ONLY way is for SACS to spell out that the only way UNC keeps accreditation is to make all the fake paper classes null and void. Also all cases where students violated UNCs own rules with credit hours should have the credit pulled. THEN students do not have valid degrees, APRs drop, some are ineligible during seasons/games. THEN it gets interesting again!
Unfortunately, in my opinion, SACS is not about punishing member institutions. It is only interested in assuring that any school that "goes astray" gets their act together and has procedures and process in place to keep the "miscues" from occurring again. Probation is just the tool they use to force the school to prove that they have corrected the problems. Loss of accreditation is their extreme last resort solution when a school either cannot or will not comply with SACS requirements.

SACS may have a real test case on their hands shortly. Since their visit last year, UNC has put in a lot of "reforms". And since there is a long trail of evidence to show the UNC used fraudulent classes and fraudulent grades to keep important athletes eligible, it is safe to presume that this is their preferred method of maintaining strong athletic teams. It would be extremely difficult for them to come up with an equally effective way to accomplish the same result. This has been at the heart of their negotiations with the NCAA. So now that they have dealt with the NCAA, they have to do the same with SACS. These reforms represent nothing more than new winding trails for the SACS people to get lost in and delayed in their mission. Deviations from the procedures have to be found, verified, and answered for. This takes time, while additional workarounds are being developed.
You couldn't be more right, seniorwolf. That's why in my letters to SACS, I have stressed the symbiotic relationship between the athletics side (RAMS club) and the academics side (BOG, BOT, Chancellor). Here are a couple of paragraphs from my letters.

"While UNC-CH has set up a beautifully-designed website and published a laundry list of “reforms” it claims will put its academic mission back on the right track, I have seen no evidence that the university has made progress toward “exercises appropriate administrative control over intercollegiate athletics,” identified as Standard 3 in your Disclosure Statement dated June 18, 2015."

"To those close to the situation, it is obvious that there is no desire among UNC-CH administrators to put academics first, their proclamations and protestations notwithstanding. It will take an outside group such as the SACSCOC to force that change. Otherwise, the charade of “student first” will continue unabated. I see that as a role of SACS."

"There is a symbiotic relationship between the UNC board of trustees and big-money athletics boosters. To put it bluntly, the Ram’s Club and its deep-pockets supporters of UNC athletics still have way too much influence over decisions made by this administration when athletics are involved. And as long as that relationship exists, athletics is going to trump academics every time. The university’s stated goal of “putting academics first” will continue to be the myth that it has been for decades."

Man, I have been away from this thread for too long. This is some really entertaining stuff.

The said part is that they think SACS is actually reading their letters/emails. The only one that actually takes them seriously is Kane and he has proven to be a joke. I guess they have to do something with their time while they wait for the crops to grow.

Good morning class. Your first assignment is to go check out the twitter exchange between Dan Kane and Jay Bilas last night.
That absolutely sums up how little dan kane has gone about his investigative journalism of this whole thing. He makes shit up. So now that it's out and everyone knows he is a fraud and a liar, should he not be removed from his job? We know after that conversation with Jay Bilas he isn't honorable enough to step down himself. He will likely have to be carried out kicking and screaming.

I don't know how to Twitter. Can you just post the exchange here?

Assignment #2
  1. Go to Twitter.com
  2. Create username (don't use your real one)
  3. Create handle (can be the same)
  4. You can change user name at any time. For instance, my user name is Ty Webb and my handle is @unc7100. I could change my name to Irwin Fletcher at any time, but @unc7100 remains
  5. Click magnifying glass in top right corner
  6. Search Jay Bilas
  7. Read and click tweets to see whole conversations.

Just tried to put it up but messed up. I will do it later when I have more time.
