What's Pitt's motivation for letting him play for us without sitting out a year?
Public opinion, which may impact future recruiting.
Not sure how much they value public opinion, and how much they value Cam not playing for UNC. I could see them putting up a bigger stink and ultimately blocking it if Pitt and UNC were projected to be the two top dogs in the ACC next year - that would make some sense that they wouldn't want to let a player go and prevent them from winning the conference. But Pitt's gonna blow again - they're not beating UNC with or without him so they might as well just let him go and save themselves from a PR battle.
Not having a camera shot of Cam in a suit on Carolina's bench and a discussion by the announcers criticizing Pitt every time Carolina plays, all year long.

I wouldn't be so sure that Cam starts. I think he will play more in the 3 instead of the 2 and Theo will be starting at the 3. I'm still betting that KW starts at the 2 because he is an upperclassmen and plays good D. Usually Roy starts those type of kids.
Hell, the playing good D isn't even a requirement if you're an upperclassman.

I get a chuckle whenever something negative happens to another team/coach/player and the Radiarians jump on it with a "Oh, what about when everyone thought X was better than UNC/Roy/some Heel player? Where are they now?".
Happened in the Thad Matta thread. Some poasters over there alleging that a bunch of our "so called fans" used to say that they'd prefer Matta over Roy and that Matta was the better coach. I haven't seen anyone say that and I've been reading that board for awhile.
I'm expecting that when Jim Christian (BC coach) eventually gets fired, they'll have revisionist history once again - "Remember all of those crappy fans we have that were always saying Christian could coach circles around Ol' Roy? Guess not!" Umm, no, I actually don't remember anyone saying that.

Rarely on Duke's free board. I can only imagine the blowback on THR if Duke had done this though, Duke gets different rules etc. I don't really care because he isn't that good but he fills a hole in your roster so I get why you guys are excited.
I mean he was the #3 option on a shitty Pitt team, not saying he's terrible but he isn't some elite talent or anything. He will be serviceable and his experience will probably be his best addition to the team.

GFY, my sources have been telling me Cam was committing for a few months now but I couldn't make that public knowledge for fear of exposing them. Nothing about that is G7ish.

I'm not sure it's ever happened with Matta specifically, but I assure you that there have indeed been times when our own fans have left Roy out of their list of top 5 coaches in the NCAA. And it would not surprise me if someone did list Matta as a better coach back in the day when he was still recruiting at a high level. Now you could argue that's simply an opinion of whoever poasted it. While that's true, it's an absurd opinion with no basis whatsoever and that goes for any opinion that doesn't have Roy as one of the best 3 coaches in the game right now and a sure fire top 10 of all time. So I get their point. But the radarians constantly harping on that is equally as annoying as poasters that continuously downplay Roy and his accomplishments.

Exactly . . ! We are getting an ACC seasoned shooting guard that was 5th in the conference in 3 pt. accuracy(41%) last year. A 6'8" shooting guard that can flyt out ball . . oh my.

What a good problem to have when fans will have different opinions on who should start.... Should be 10-11 man rotations again next year....And that's after losing 5 key cogs from a National Championship(not to bad Ole Roy)
