OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

Jalek has some straight up stoopid ball handling skills.
Is he showcasing himself enough to warrant all the one and done talk? It would be amazing to see what Roy could do with him by his junior year. He is so far down the line up right now, it makes me wonder what scouts are thinking.

At the moment, I have to agree. He's obviously not earning enough PT right now, but it feels like when he's in the game, he's pressing. There are occasional flashes that make you say "wow", but not enough yet to make me think he's OAD.

I personally think he's back next year.

I'm really enjoying this season so far. We got that redemption ring, and the expectations are lowered.

We know what to expect from Joel & Theo. But I'm loving what I'm seeing from Luke and Kenny. I never expected the MAJOR contributions that these two are delivering. Seeing that nice run by BRob last night was awesome. I'm sure hoping we'll see similar moments from Seventh as well. The freshman are coming along; I fully expect the bigs to continue growing and giving us more as the season progresses. And we get Cam on the court soon!

The whole team is playing unselfishly, aggressive, hustling for loose balls, taking charges, etc. Fun to watch.

D in the first half was excellent. Offense was pretty good the whole game except for a few lulls in the second half. Berry had kind of an average game offensively and the team still flowed pretty well on that end. Maye did his thing and Kenny Williams has an absolutely lovely shot. The FT shooting was just terrible but not much to complain about outside of that.

The next team we play is awful but UT following a long break will be a really tough game.

Anyone else find it a little hard to believe that this heelswin guy on THR who has only posted barely readable, awful one liners up until this point (usually creating 2 identical threads at a time) now has credible info on Zion? Some of you are premium members and get the same info I get from Clint... and that is no one knows wtf he is going to do.

Yeah, I don't think anyone reasonable actually believes him. Usually I wouldn't know what you are even talking about but looked over there an hour or so ago. I don't think anyone knows much at all about Zion but I don't think he ends up here despite his relationship with Little. He has a relationship with a lot of guys, like most recruits do. As I've said, I think he is a bit overrated anyway.

I'm probably as high on Little as I've been on anyone UNC has recruited in a while. I think that guy has a chance to be a legit stud pretty early.

Little will be good, he is legit OAD despite what GSD thinks.

We thought you created an alternative account.

His last few minutes yesterday looked smooth. The selfish fan in me would love for him to stay next year. I understand his intent

Felton finally played well yesterday. He had been severely disappointing thus far. Granted, it was largely garbage time but it was still nice to see some things come together for him. He's going to be special his junior year if he's patient enough to wait until after that year to declare.

He seemed to facilitate better, with some smooth dishes inside. It was a nice glimpse into what we can expect from him

I am also glad we have a 2 guard that can score. Kenny is playing like a beast this year.

Another concern I have is inserting cam into the rotation. I am afraid it will mess with team chemistry by the time he gets back.

I think that is a valid concern. It's one reason I believe there is no way he starts.

Felton has shown good vision all year. Good ball handling as well. What he lacks is just a basic knowledge of what to to while he is on the court on either end. He has probably never had to understand that before.

He's good. And he might be OAD somewhere else. But I still say he isn't for us. We'll see.

So after last year with Tony Bradley you guys still think Felton (or for GSD Little) need PT to showcase his skills in order to be OAD? It all comes down to whether or not they want to be OAD, if they have the skills all they have to do is workout for a team, get good feedback and then declare. It sucks but that is the state of college basketball right now, Frank Jackson, Tony Bradley, Isiah Briscoe, etc. should still be in college but they aren't.

Agreed. Which is why I thought that SoCal_Dukie moron was off his rocker when he said that Giles wouldn't have been a first rounder if he didn't play last year.

Obviously I think having a lot of good tape beats not having much tape at all though. But not having much tape at all beats having bad tape.

NBA GM's need to stop drafting on potential, but they won't. More often than not they draft guys in the first round that don't contribute until after their rookie deal expires then let guys like Brogdon go to the 2nd round. My only thing on Giles is if I were a GM, it would be really difficult to spend a lottery pick on someone with his injury history that hasn't played basketball since his Junior year of high school.
