OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

Anyone else here wonder about Jalek? We all know he's extremely talented and that the system is extremely hard to learn for point guards. I just watch him and wonder if he's even trying to figure it out. Some kids are very coachable, some aren't because they can't do what you ask them and some aren't because they don't want to do what you are asking. Watching him seems like the latter to me, hope I'm wrong.

I think there's something about his game on an aesthetic level that makes us think he is lazy and overly flashy. That happens a lot of times with smooth ball handling types. He has a ton of ability, which actually makes him look worse when he's turning the ball over, or making a poor decision.

There's no doubt he is extremely talented and that's one reason I question his lack of improvement.

Funny how many on radar, including the boss of the borgata himself, were calling Jalek the best point guard prospect in the country- never mind there were guys like Duval, Sexton, and Trae Young.

Considering how each of those three are balling out, looks pretty stupid.

Roy is intentionally not developing him so he can keep him around longer. Roy is playing chess while other coaches are playing checkers... starting to worry about my bet with GSD that Nasir Little will be OAD.
He(GSD) and Roy are in on it together just to f with you. And (never thought I would say this) could you please bring the other dude, Mickey, back?

yeah one poster in particular specifically called out Duval but that same poster also said that Tyus Jones was never and will never be better than Joel Berry despite high school rankings, where they're drafted, etc. All that being said, Duval's shot is BROKEN and defenses are starting to figure that out which is a bit concerning. Trae Young on the other hand is ridiculous and so is Sexton but Sexton is a dickhead.

Theo and Duvall have the same off-season shot coach.

My 2 cents about that game.

We were in the bonus (1-and-1) with 13:12 left in the game. We were in the double bonus (2 shots) with 11:28 in the game. Despite this, 16 of our 26 shot attempts in the second half were 3-pointers, including 11 of our 16 shot attempts after we entered the double bonus.

That's terrible situational awareness. It's inexcusable.

Don’t be scared...tag a motherf*cker.

Jalek one and done? lol. I told you so. You’re gonna see that Little isn’t either. Gimme my money.

Your 2 cents on this is now worth a dollar. I didn't understand why we were trying to get it all back with one shot so much. An easy two or a trip to the line would have been more then enough with as much time as we had. We made enough stops to make it work.

We had several empty trips when we were only down 1-3 points after either turning them over or getting a defensive rebound. It was maddening.

But in the grand scheme, that game didn’t mean anything other than the Heels being the butt of some jokes for a week or two. I’d trade that loss all day to steal an ACC win on the road. We were 10-2 at this point last year too.

Dude I dunno. I feel like Little is OAD anywhere else, but at UNC, Roy may just not play him enough to be two and done.

One thing about Little that I believe. He will not suck as bad as Felton. He is an entirely different player. If someone is going to flash as a freshman it will be Little IMO.

quick question... I see people saying Cam Johnson played really well against Wofford but I looked at his stats and he was 1/5 from the floor all 3 pointers... are these stats accurate or am I missing something?

They're accurate. He did end up going 7/8 from the line, so his total stat line was 10 & 3 in 17 minutes. I wouldn't call it excellent or anything, but considering it's his first action since last season I thought it was ok.

Yeah, he made a good pass right away, shot looked fine, and made his FTs. He is going to be a good but streaky shooter unless things have changed drastically for him. I think for me the most positive sign is that he simply seemed to play within the flow of the offense and didn't seem hampered. I don't think there were any chemistry issues or anything. We played like garbage, but I didn't think it had anything to do with Cam.

My thoughts exactly. In fact I was telling my buddy the same thing a couple of days ago.

Jalek b2b 3s. Would love to see him get going. I kinda like how deadly we can be from three but dammit we HAVE to get some scoring from our bigs.

Make that b2b2b for Jalek.
