OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

I was unable to reply during the game. I was watching it on the WatchESPN app and we got airborne and lost connection with less than 2 minutes and we were trailing. 2 1/2 hour flight... wondering.

Theo scares me because he is very aggressive and I worry about him getting injured.

I got a bad feeling lot of people gonna be very disappointed in this season. We are just too soft inside. We’re relying on 3 bigs that i honestly dont believe would start on any other team in the acc. I think 6-8 losses in acc is very possible
Sadly I agree. We may be looking at 10-8 conference record. Hope like hell that I'm wrong.

May as well let him. The way we can beat Duke is by making a bunch of perimeter shots. We aren't going to be able to stop him no matter what this year.
Tony Bradley would help.

Yea I know. Move on.

Btw I LOVE what Cam brings to this team. If Berry or KDub are off from three (please God few n far between) Cam gives a third dagger. I love it.

Tend to agree. I think (hope?) those guys will get better as the season goes on and we'll be able to hold our own against teams that don't have dominant interior play. Even today, we got about a zillion shots blocked but our veteran leadership stepped up and found a way to pull out the win.

Looks very possible. We're going to see just how vital Meeks and Hicks were.

I went to the game today. Despite the “sell out”, there were thousands of empty seats throughout the whole first half. It eventually got to 90% though. Energy was decent.

Two things stuck out to me: (1) our transition defense was nonexistent. We repeatedly were beaten down the court and even when we did get back, we lost assignments. We were beaten in embarrassing fashion a couple times. It’s tbe kind of treatment we’re used to dishing out. (2)The game had a herky-jerky feel to it. It never felt like we got into rhythm. Wake was constantly shuffling guys in and out.

I’m almost convinced at this point that Roy is fu*king with everybody. I honestly think he wants us in close games. Otherwise, there’s no explaining his substitution patterns at times.

My kids enjoyed the thrilling fashion in which we won so it wasn’t all bad.

Roy has kind of settled into a routine before Cam came back. Now it’s like the beginning of the season again. He’s tinkering for sure.

Roy working on his line-ups....

It was a hell of an ending for sure. Yeah, the transition D was noticeably bad on TV. When I rewatch the game I'm going to pay attention to it to see what the deal is (not like it matters what I see). Dakich commented on it as well.

That's funny you say that about Roy. In the post game interview it almost sounded like he was a little upset we won the game. He wasn't obviously but it sounded like it a little bit.

Btw...

Crimson Tide make it to the second weekend in March. You heard it here.

SEC is pretty tough this year. 'Bama, Arkansas, UT, UK, Florida are all pretty good. Maybe Auburn and A&M and MSU as well.

As long as we make the tournament and win our first round game I'd be ok with 6-8 losses. It doesn't matter as much to me when we are coming off of a championship.

The only time I am disappointed is when they lose due to a lack of effort. When they clearly have more talent than the other team but give the game away. Fortunately, those games don't happen often. If they play hard on both ends of the court for 40 minutes and lose to a more talented team, I have no problem with that.

I've said from the beginning of the season that this team will have highs and lows, and I'm willing to accept whatever happens. Over the past few months, we all watched the Heels bring home their 7th National Championship, and the NCAA investigation come to an end. So it's been a great year, regardless of their final record this season. I'm going to enjoy watching Berry and Pinson finish out their Tar Heel careers while also seeing the continued development of the young players. As many here have said, the future is bright.

Go Heels!

Who will the PG be on that team?

If we don't see some major improvement we are going to need a PG for a Final Four run!

I think Jalek will be more ready for the PG role next year. He's shown flashes this year, but also a lot of growing pains, which is typical for a freshman. With a full season of game experience and further development in the off-season, I think he will show a lot of improvement next year.

I posted this on THR and I'm sure I will be black balled for it but I think it is about right...

I understand that we are soft inside and we are hurting in that part of the game but am I the only one that thinks that losing JJ was head and shoulders worse!

We have 1 player right now that can get there own shot at anytime and last year we had 2 with JJ and JB2 , and if we still had him our big would appear so much better than they really are.

JJ's departure definitely left a huge void. Dude was constantly moving and working to get open. And as you said, he could get his own. Plus that floater was sweet.

I'm glad that Cam joined the Heels, but we should not expect him to replicate Justin.

Justin Jackson was definitely a significant loss for this team. Having Cam back in the rotation has helped this year, but he is not the same player as Jackson.
