OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

Exactly. 17 seconds is a lot of time if you foul and hit some 3's. Brey must've really wanted to watch the SB and was ready to get outta town.
Yeah I heard about a team one time that was 8 points behind with 17 seconds left and won the game. And that was before the 3 pointer. Strange move by Brey IMO.

That's exactly what went through my head. I thought that set the precedent.

Especially a conference game and you're the road team. I was still crossing my fingers.

I see where on Radar they're saying the refs were atrocious. I was watching with my brother (via phone call) and I turn my TV volume off and listen through his TV and watch mine. I couldn't really tell how bad they were. I just looked at the # of fouls for each team under their name on the screen (I like that new feature). I knew that sending ND to the line meant 2 points, essentially.

Speaking of Coach K. I watched the first half by myself, and I heard Dickie V make some commentary about how he has a feeling that dook is about to embark on some ass-kicking path of domination now that K is back. And... I gotta be honest... I'm afraid of that being exactly what happens.

Yeah there's a handful of dudes that go on about refs every freaking game. Just accept the fact that refs are incompetent and move on. The only thing that jumped out to me was a horrendous flop by Colson that worked in ND's favor. But if we had lost it would've been due to crappy FT shooting.

There was a stretch of "bad calls". Refs weren't biased and wouldn't have cost us the game but kennedys last two were atrocious. And you're absolutely correct ND wasn't missing from the line.

I thought k-rat was hard core republican.

What did he say about trump?
"We're in such a line-item society, a Twitter world, so when one thing happens, that's the story," Krzyzewski said. "It's a good thing leaders don't lead that way. I hope they don't -- I know one uses Twitter a lot."

Apparently Roy "blasted" HB2 in his presser after the game today. Everyone's entitled to their opinions and I'd break bread w just about anybody but I wish we could separate entertainment and politics. On the other hand I guess people w platforms sometimes feel they need to use said platform to speak out.

Disclaimer. I don't have a issue with what Roy nor Kay said. I still love Roy and still despise Kay.

Roy needs to kindly shut the **** up about politics. I'm sick of that from him.

I wouldn't say he blasted it. He didn't even mention it by name. I would be willing to bet the vast majority of people who live outside of NC had no clue what he was talking about.

I only used "blasted" bc that was the headline I read. He said something like "I'm glad we got to play a game here bc of that stupid rule in our state.."

Full quote:

"I'm glad some people in Greensboro get to see us play. I'm glad we were able to take a game here because of that stupid rule we have here in our state that took a lot of great opportunities from people in our state and great athletes that like to do things in our state. I shouldn't say rule, I guess it's a law; law is more important than a rule, I guess. I just think it's ridiculous in what it's doing to our state and the reputation of our state."

Ok second thought I think "blasted" was absolutely the correct word.

That's a lot more than what I originally saw, so blasted is probably appropriate.

Way to go, Roy! I'm glad someone like him had the balls to say it.
No, not way to go Roy. You represent an entire university and state. It is wildly inappropriate to talk politics while on the job.

If he wants to talk about HB2 or Obamacare or whatever, he needs to do so when he's off the clock.

I'll give him a pass considering it was his press conference. I highly doubt the school has any problem with his comments. He was asked for his thoughts, and he gave them.

Lol yeah THIS school doesn't have any problem with his comments because they fall nicely into the overall liberal/progressive slant of the campus. They would've had a problem with it if he had said he was in favor of HB2.

And BTW, yes it was "his" press conference, but it's not really his. It's the University of North Carolina Men's Basketball Head Coach's press conference.

The University of North Carolina Men's Basketball Head Coach was asked to address that specifically... he did.

Yeah, the officiating wasn't that bad. I actually thought it was pretty good most of the game. That one stretch was frustrating but that was it. I like to vent in threads but after a game I can usually look back fairly rationally.

Truer words were never spoken. UNC is the Cal Berkeley of the east, a bastion of Free Speech, just as long as it agrees with their ultra liberal agenda. It's why, as much as I love the University, I wouldn't want my son or daughter to attend UNC today.

There's a thread on radar that's even dredging up the NCAA making sure we lost to Villanova.

I just wish someone could explain how the ncaa using the officials to make us lose would work and how it would be kept secret.

In general i've found that any conspiracy theory that involves several dz people who normally dgaf about each other foregoing millions of dollars from selling the sports story of the century and risk destroying the greatest cash cow ever in order to protect each other and punish a sports team is a crock of shyt.

He did, but he shouldn't.

Roy Williams is yet another example, among many, of North Carolinians, who, given their upbringing and background, have no business being liberal. And yet they are. It's the weirdest thing.

They're just human. You put liberal next to him (or conservative, depending on their stance on an issue). Should or shouldn't is his call. He's the coach.
