Was it Hatcher? I've been trying for a hot minute to think of the guy's name they used to joke about and he was definitely from UVA. I want to say Terry something, but that could just be the coach's name slipping into this old brain. The running joke was that the refs would call a foul on him as he was getting off the bus. Anyone remember?
Saw this and thought it applied. The play is real, but the hype is still an annoyance for anyone but a dookie.

nah, I know it was Terry Holland which is why I'm thinking I was mixing up the names and that the player had the name Terry. I might just be confusing them. What was Hatcher's first name and was he the same guy I was thinking of?

I was talking about a guy named Terry Gates. Not much out there as he wasn't a star (particularly on a team with guys like Sampson and Jeff Lamp), but did find this UPI article. Enjoy.

I think it's going to get better and by a lot as they learn to play together. Tough to watch at times now though.

I hate hires like this because they always seem to get a pass and a few extra years when they can't hack it because of who they are.
We should have either hired Miller or Stackhouse if we wanted to stay into he family, since they did have some head coaching experience, or done what the premier college basketball school in the country could have done and picked who we wanted to be the coach that was proven and piss on the family mess.
He has another year, maybe 2. Though if we miss the NCAAT this season, it could snowball quickly. But I doubt it.
I'm not qualified to argue either way, but when I consider that game, for example, I have to consider that we were even IN that game. It's hard for me to judge, even after watching the last several implosions. All I know is that it's sad at this point.
I said it admittedly very early on but here we are a couple seasons later and Elliott cadeau has not come close to the hype surrounding him as a recruit. Supposedly one of the best pg’s in the nation? Haha right. I’m not sure he’s the best pg on the team. So who’s to blame? I don’t know. But it’s just another symptom of the total collapse of the program. At least relative to what we’re used to. When’s the last time unc didn’t have a big man that wouldn’t start on most any other acc team? And there’s no help on the horizon. We just lost a 5 star to byu and he’s not even a fuking Mormon. Wth.
