OOTB Carolina football discussion thread

we've got an HC and a DC who both got recognition for what Vince Young provided them at Texas. That DC then got recognition for what Cam Newton provided him as HC at Auburn. Vince Young and Cam Newton were both offensive juggernauts with a great offense around them.

Now they are back together again, trying to ride on the back of a great player, who doesn't have the supporting cast that those other teams had. Maybe they should concentrate on that supporting cast instead of relying on Drake Maye. Just a thought.

Either way, I want a reset of coaching staff and I don't care if we never win another game. This crap is just too disgusting to watch.
I was being sarcastic about Chizik. He sucks. That's why Auburn canned him.

I would like to win another game, however.

I knew you were being sarcastic. I was augmenting your point.

On the other hand, when I said I didn't care if we won another game, I was being sardonic.

Welp my 10-2 prediction still looks good
need to get it going to get 10, but yes, you’re on it. 👀

i’m done carving out time to watch this stuff…it blows my mind that the evaluation of these players is either way off or the staff cannot coach them to do basic things, scheme related or not…other schools wanted wanted these guys too.

i’m sure it’s hard for a 300lb man to not hold when he’s getting beaten by another 300lb man…but if his instinct is to immediately hold b/c he gets beat, get him tf out of the game or scheme for it…on defense, if i saw 20 with another dpi or contact penalty, he wouldn’t be on the field…he’s hurting the team and the time to learn is not when the game is close.

just blows my mind…but again, i’ve moved past it lol.

eta: i would also like to join the group that wants everyone gone.

I f*cking hate the guy but Urban Meyer would probably make us a playoff contender in 2-3 years tops
UNC is not coughing-up Urban Meyer money. And, I doubt he wants to chance it if they did.

UNC is not a football school. They don't need big-time coaches or great teams.

they don't have healthy blood, I meant...

yes! Anemic!
It really is amazing to me how bad UNC defense has been for the last 25 years. We had a couple of good years under Butch, but that's it. We've been bad to pathetic other than that. You would think we could at least have one other average coordinator in all those years. And how have we at least not backed out way into an ACC championship since 1980? Even ****ing WF has won a championship in that time spand.

the program needs a dan lanning type and there just aren’t many like him that are known yet…young, energetic, and a program builder.

It's funny how Mack's time has been at Carolina. People were upset he left the first go around. Now they're upset that he won't leave. Full circle I guess.

It's all about luck. It's just right-person(people)/right-time and it's totally coincidental. NFL or CFB... it's just lucky. Yeah, the coaches develop a reputation... but, SO MANY things have to click WELL, for a program to really evolve and maintain itself.

The past few games (and yrs) look just like the Marquise and Trubisky yrs, accept the recruiting rankings are better now (paper only). Great QBs, sketchy OL with bad depth, D gets pushed around by bad teams.

Switzer & Hollins was a great combo, but the Dazz, Dyami, Josh Downs type guys seemed maybe a tick better. The RB's were better recently too than the Marquise/Trubisky years too (Hood, TJ Logan).

The D has actually looked medium stout a few second-halves earlier this yr, but lately look like reversion to the mean.

SMFH, granted GT isn't a good D, but still... 5.7 yards per carry for the team. 9-15 on third downs, we won TOP and this:

UNC is favored by 2 touchdowns. It's like an invitation to win as much money as you want.

Who else finds this whole Michigan sign stealer thing to be a big nothing burger? I cannot believe how this is getting the coverage it is. If you don't want people who attend games to know your signs, disguise them better. Mix them up. Stop using the same signs. Seems ridiculous to me that a team would be in trouble for such. Is that not just scouting?

If I'm being honest, until this all broke out, I didn't even realize that there are rules against it. I just assumed that everyone tried to steal the other teams signs and thus reacted accordingly with changes/alterations/modifications. Seems pretty stupid to me not to do so. They should just shout everything from the sideline and require the D to "ear muff" until they are finished.

Right?!! It's bizarre that scouting the other team and trying to learn their signals is "against the rules". And I still need confirmation of where the rules state that it is indeed prohibited. What's that language? Can teams not watch film on another team to see how they play?

Just weird. And now they're finding out that the info came from Ryan Day's (OSU Head Coach) brother who employs a private investigator or something. I think he knows Michigan is steamroll OSU again this year. I don't really like either team but my distaste for anything OSU is far stronger.

Harbaugh is a publicity magnet, any story that has him in it will be blown out of proportion. Seems it's becoming more of a big deal now, a can of worms kind of thing. Good gossip kind of material.

But sign stealing is somewhat of a big deal to me because of a game we played against Louisville back when Petrino was their HC. They slaughtered us, and in real time as I watched I thought they must be stealing our signals because it was almost like they were in the huddle with us. And that smug POS walked along the sidelines with a little Mona Lisa smile the entire game, like the cat that ate the canary kind of thing. I would bet half the farm they had something on the inside, but it's only a strong suspicion.

I don't really care or hate Mich directly, just detest Jim H. Thought he was a putz when he played for the Ravens and can't believe how different his brother is from him. That being said, figuring out the other team is part of all sports and signs are a component of that in my mind. Just don't see the big deal in terms of disguising it and the issue is removed whether there are rules or not. All that being said, I hope Michigan pounds Penn St this weekend.

I was with you until that last part. Of all the B1G schools, PSU is probably the one I root for the most.

And I'm just tired of the same ol, same ol. OSU and Michigan being the powerhouses of the B1G is boring AF.

So it's a big deal when you are on the losing end. Otherwise it's okay. I'm sorry... I keep forgetting about your half brain.

You root for a team with a historical pedophile ring in its legacy. Nice to know.

It's nothing against PSU necessarily.. It's my insufferable sister-in-law that's turned me.

you keep forgetting that my half a brain beats your full one. I didn't say or imply that it's only not OK when it happens to me (or us). But any time you experience something personally, it sticks with you more than when you hear about it because obviously, you personally suffer for it. Duh.

You're trying way too hard.

Yeah, they're pretty much the same. You would think that. Tomato tomato.

Yeah, one affected a couple dozen kids and the other affected thousands of student-athletes.

And I think the saying is "tomato, tomahto.' If you just said "tomato" twice, it loses its meaning.

The saying is "who in the fvck equates giving easy classes to raping children?" You do. I love this ... it "affected" them. Good job. Euphemisms for rape and cheating if it helps you... those hot dogs are poisonous after all.
