OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

My wife is trashed and Uber frisky right now, in the end I'll carry her to bed and put a diaper on her then jerk off in the morning.

Leave it up to me to find negatives in a 50 pt win but what really REALLY bothers me and it was same last season, we have NOONE that can execute in the post. I mean NOONE. Their footwork is horrible. They all have to gather themselves to jump and they all try to take a dribble even when right under the baske. Noone has a baby hook shot. And noone uses the backboard!!! Who the hell is coaching the bigs??!! Freaking may is on the staff. He had great footwork! Someone send them some kevin mchale hilights.

Even though Brooks is playing out of position, I think he will be good enough for us.

Luke has a pretty decent baby hook. But he’s also the best player in the country so that’s to be expected.

Broke the century mark in a game in which we were honestly pretty dang sloppy. 18 turnovers and there could have been more if the opponent had been able to corral some balls that were up for grabs. So I'm pretty excited about the overall balance and the scoring potential, but we will need to clean it up against better competition. It's still early in the season and I'm confident that we will. Think this team could be special.

I'm extremely curious to see us against better competition but I think we look damn good, even taking poor comp into the equation.

I especially agree with that last sentence. At the beginning of the season, I was optimistic but thought we had some glaring weaknesses and we might. But I have been more than impressed with what I've seen out of this group so far. So well balanced and everyone's eating. Cam is deadly. Kenny is the leader and Luke is Luke. Then you have ridiculously talented freshman that can take over games in spurts in Coby and Nas and a super deep bench that is contributing. Leaky has been way better than any of us expected (although last night was a struggle for him), Seventh is taking care of the ball, BRob offers some streaky shooting and high energy, Manley has incredible length and can dominate smaller teams, Brooks is strong, smart and safe. Platek and Jet Jr. are useful. By March, this team could be the title favorite.

I'm a little more comfortable with the PG situation after seeing where Seventh, Coby, and even Leaky are at. There is going to be a steep learning curve and some highs and lows out of that position, but the weapons are there.

I'm still about where I was before the season with concerns for the 5-spot. Brooks is playing well but with his size and his lapses on positioning I still fear he's going to get exposed on both ends of the floor by elite bigs - fortunately there aren't a whole lot of teams that have those, but there are some. Going small with Luke at the 5 leaves the same issue. And then Sterling just hasn't yet shown the jump in progress I was hoping for - his length is great but he needs continued work on his hands and playing fundamental defense. It almost seems he's doing better within his role with traps and pick recovery around the perimeter than with sound defense in the post, which seems counterintuitive.

With our balance I think we can - for the most part - hide those weaknesses against most teams. We haven't yet had a chance to see what happens against top-tier opponents but I think we'll hold our own, especially as the season wears on.

the dookies are really good, no question about it...

And, their starters will all be gone next year, again!

Yea i think a lot of us are in denial about how good they are. I rival hate em as much as anyone but i watch a shitload of college bball and they’re as good as any team i’ve seen in a long time. Not saying they’ll win it all, the best team only wins the natty about half the time, but if the tourney started today they would be the odds on fav.

And that's why. Ratty is going to work the refs like an overseer and dook is going to pull all the little dirty crap they pull every game. I'm just going to PO'd and I know it.
There were 2 fouls toward the end of each half that should have been flagrant, even the announcers were stunned. It was pretty bad and like I said I don't usually get into that crap.

They are talented, but they aren't a lock to win the title, especially in a single elimination tournament. The Fab 5 made it to the title game twice, but couldn't close the deal. The '15 Kentucky team which had better upperclassmen lost in the final 4. There are no guarantees.

Unless something drastically changes, they are the odds-on favorite now, and will continue to be.

I saw them play KY, Army and Auburn last night. If they handle Gonzaga- the third Top 10 team that they will have played this month- like they have the others... then, I fully expect them to win it all. There's no weakness in their game, that I can see, at all. This team now looks better than their 2015 team. This team is scary-good. I'm sure they will lose a game, or maybe two, to someone. But, it will be because they lose it, not the other team beating them. They are, as Dabo refers to the football teams, Duke and the ROY.

As much as I will miss the intensity of the rivalry when he's gone, I hope K retires soon... like maybe this season, if they do win it all.

All is takes is an injury to one of their 3. It would be a shame if someone were to take Zion’s legs out when he’s at the peak of his eleventy billion inch vertical jump.

Well, yeah, if they lose someone to injury, sure. If any team loses key players to injuries, that's a season-changing variable. But, even if Williamson were to get injured, or even one of the others, they're still FF material. Williamson isn't the most valuable of their 4 freshman ringers. I'd say Reddish or Garrett are harder to replace. Williamson had a very sub-par night last night, and Auburn never got within 6 or 7 points of them. Bolden blocked 7 shots. They have depth, too.

Gonzaga was about to lose to the emasculated Arizona Wildcats, and then they poured-it-on in the last half of the 2nd half. I don't think the dookies have trailed in a game this year. If they did, it was the opening score.

The Gonzaga/dookie game tonight will reveal a lot.
