OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

Yeah, no way, man. Getting beat by duke in the Final Four on the way to them hanging a banner would give them the trump card right back and make our win in Cameron essentially irrelevant.
It might put the rivalry back in balance. But "make our win in Cameron essentially irrelevant???" IM-FREAKING-POSSIBLE! Did you watch that production they had in Cameron? I don't think I was that giddy and thrilled when UNC beat Gonzaga in 17. I guess it's a personal sort of experience, and where you place your priorities.

It's a debate. In the potential tourney gm will there be crazies in big-bird costumes in the stands crying and will I get to see 90+ ex-dukies sharting themselves?
and Mickie the K and JWill calling desperately for a time out as the reality started sinking in?

Two months ago if my choice was beating Duke in K's last home game or going to the Final Four I would have taken winning in Cameron. If my choice was beating Duke in K's last home game or beating him in the Final Four I would have taken the win in the Final Four.
Unfortunately, we never get such choices. I even started a thread on Radar with a poll, before the Cameron game, that was specifically about this. It was almost 90% in favor of Cameron over the FF. It wasn't even close!

On the flip side, if we were victorious, it would compound the Cameron win and they'd pretty much never be able to tell us anything ever again, no matter how many banners they hang.

Meeting in the tournament, let alone the Final Four, would instantly be more important than almost any other matchup to date.

Regardless, it's really premature to get worked up about it. Hoping Arkansas makes it moot.

Your hoping paid off.
I’m wearing my all time luckiest Heels shirt even if it is while sleeping in middle of night (2:30 to 5:00 am) here in Rome. I’m so glad I packed it. And was super happy when I saw the score this morning.

Then I saw how close it was late. Whoa what a game! Way closer than the final score. Neither team shot great but what clutch performances.

Time for Dook to lose and stp’s Cinderella story to be over.

3 ACC in elite eight. Zero big 10. Crazy.

I really thought us winning at HIS and anything but a natty would, push K into unretiring, but us winning at HIS and beating them in the FF really might do it!

If both get out of the weekend!

Given the pomp and circumstance of Kay’s last home game imo that win is bigger than a potential FF dook win unless dook wins it on the way to the title. If dook beats us then loses the title game our win at Cameron will be much bigger than theirs in the FF and I guarantee you dookies agree. We’re playing with house money whereas dook and Kay’s legacy is on the line.

We've been close to playing Duke in the tourney before but not like this. We're facing a freaking 15 seed. Not to say St. Peter's can't win, it's March Madness after all. But our chances of making the Final Four are much higher. And some may call me timid but chalk me up as someone who would very much rather play Arkansas. I don't think I can handle playing Duke in a game of that magnitude.

I couldn’t bear to watch tbh. But others certainly will. It would prob be one of the highest rated tourney games all time. And yes I’m getting ahead of myself but I’m not playing so eff it.

Saint Peter's will be the toughest so far. They'd better focus on THEM. The pressure is on the Heels in that game. A 15 seed should be an easy out, but this isn't a usual 15 seed. And, losing to them would be a bit of an embarrassment.

They've beaten two teams that beat us in the regular season.

I'm not sure they have an answer for Bacot but the real key will be Love and RJ keeping their composure. We should be able to dominate the rebounding battle

We should. Seems like Purdue's bigs were able to score on them, but they didn't consistently feed them. Heels gotta feed the BEAST! Armando for a Sean May-like game would be ideal (25 & 20).

Supposedly, "great guard play" wins tournaments. St. Peter's has that box checked with a fat Sharpie!

So do the Heels, sort of. RJ w/ 12 dimes, then 30 points, followed by Caleb w/ 30. We usually have one of the two playing great. Would be nice to see both have a really good game together.
I think most people would say that UNC should win the game. But, they have just beaten Kentucky and Purdue. I'm not sure how to rate Murray State. I guess it's arguable that beating Marquette, Baylor and UCLA was a tougher road.

It would definitely be nice to have a "coast-through" game, of sorts. I thought Baylor was going to be that game until the refs ejected Brady. I have no doubt that many UNC haters are claiming that we have a gimme-game with a 15 seed.

Sure people will think we have a cake-walk into the FF, but that team is pesky. If the Heels win, I doubt it will be easy either. Maybe, the reality of the moment will set in for them and the Heels can overpower them and pull away.

I was thinking.. Heels play them in December, win by only 18 and the board would be complaining...lol

lol I hope the team doesn't think of them as 'pesky'. I hope the team thinks they are the soldiers of Satan just like the (hopefully) next team, who really ARE the soldiers of Satan.

please please please dont fall in love with the three pointer right off the bat. run the offense thru the post.

The most important thing is the Heels getting a win.

Now along with that win it would be nice if the Heels shot terrible from 3. I all for playing the odds.

2 things.. Miami's shorts look silly.. Kansas has one particular cheerleader with some meat on her bones.

We are not running out stuff. We are just trying to out athlete SP at every spot. Purdue tried that and lost!
