Ahh yeah, you touched on one more thing I meant to mention in my question ... these "academies" like Oak Hill. 1). Is that a real high school that just attracts ballers from nationwide, or is it just like a basketball teaching institution that also happens to teach high school classes? lol. You see these academies way more in basketball than football recruiting. Yes, there's the IMG Academy in football, but that's really the only major one that comes to mind. Of course there's major high schools that draw talent (Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas and St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale) come to mind, but those are generally kids from that general area.
I don't know, in my opinion, basketball coaches are pretty lazy when it comes to recruiting, at least compared to football coaches. Football coaches have to evaluate so many players, it's ridiculous. Basketball coaches might have to evaluate, at the very most, 30? Which is why it's crazy when basketball bluebloods miss on guys. Like the guy from Louisville a couple years ago who was from Raleigh. And like Steph Curry. There's no way all the Power 5 football schools would miss on a talented kid like Steph Curry, IMO.
