OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

pln low-key kicking G7's ass in the "who will start at PG next year" thread. I dig it.

G7 is sooooooooooooooooo petty lol. It's ridiculous.

Example:

G7: Roy isn't charting defensive metrics.
pln: Yeah he is, he tracks missed rotations, deflections, etc. Here's some numbers to prove it.
G7: No, ROY isn't charting metrics. Some assistant on the team is. Roy isn't.

............ok lol. Because there's a big difference there if Roy or an assistant is doing it.

Yeah, I'm following that thread closely. I saw that too. This is the second occurrence in just the last few days where I am taking notice of gary's ridiculous rationale and willingness to start a battle.

Saturday's game is big for "The Other Streak" as well. It will give us three chances in the second leg to prolong the streak (already won in CH vs. Notre Dame and Clemson... and I'm just gonna assume a double over Duke is a bridge too far for this team.)

I don't think he tries to lose but I think he uses the regular season to teach lessons. You can't win a natty in October, November, December, or February. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

He sat Berry against Duke in the ACCT last year. Not only do I think it was a lesson, but I think it was superstition. Roy’s never won the title and the Comference tourney.

Phantom fouls at that*

Not really. It was a memory long before Roy got there.
Because of Moo's hiring incompetence. I think playing in the PNC Arena (or whatever its current name is) really hurts them too. The Dean Dome is a much better atmosphere than that place.

It's so Moo that a program with their accomplished history doesn't even have its own basketball arena. Lawl.

Can someone explain to me this theory that the only reason duke gets away with cheating is due to the fact that they are a private school? It makes no sense to me.

Yeah, that stretch coming up with 3 games in 5 days is going to be tough. It is ridiculous that they schedule anyone that way, especially right in the middle of the conference slate.

They can kill small children as part of blood sacrifices to the basketball gods, but the media can't find out about it because they can't do an open records request.

That article/thread on THR is kind of goofy and hypocritical but people are going to believe what they want to believe.

Kentucky fans say Duke is cheating because Capel was fired at OU but he was cleared by the NCAA. Mention Calipari's 2 vacated final fours and they say, "it wasn't him he was cleared by the NCAA."

UNC fans ask what is going on with the FBI probe and when will they bust Duke because they're obviously paying players despite there being no evidence of it. Meanwhile Little's handler is actually involved in the FBI investigation but no one mentions that.

Regarding private schools... I have no clue the difference but I'm pretty sure they aren't immune to the NCAA or FBI.

Private schools don't have to disclose a lot of the stuff that public schools have to - easier to hide money movements and things of that nature.
So duke keeps track of money that they give their players on their official university balance sheet and they use official university accounts?

I mean, the private school argument is more towards having to answer about academics and stuff like that, not money. I've always understood the argument that way. Not sure if it is even a legit argument anyway.

Gotcha, that makes a little more sense. That being said, I still think they have to report the same information that we do to the NCAA and accrediting agency. I could be wrong. Either way, it's a pretty flimsy argument that they get away with cheating because they are a private school. Miami and Syracuse are private schools. It didn't seem to help them.

I love Miami's athletic department because they Do. Not. Give. A. Fukk.

The guy who designed their Turnover Chain is an agent that UNC barred from its program as part of the scandal lol
