I mean, the private school argument is more towards having to answer about academics and stuff like that, not money. I've always understood the argument that way. Not sure if it is even a legit argument anyway.

True, academics and stuff like that as opposed to money.

Man,...why couldn't that have happened at duke?

They're private - see above.

Wow i just read that. Msu athletics is toast dudes. Mark it down. They gonna burn that shit to the ground.
Ehh.. if we've learned anything from the past few years, it's that we should wait for all the facts to come out. I'm certainly going to. Just yesterday, this happened:

So it's not like it would be beyond ESPN, and specifically "Outside the Lines" (hello, remember the paid-for Rashad McCants interview) to stretch the truth, especially on a hot-button issue like sexual assault.

Let's see how things progress.

I've read about the MS mess in several places. The AD or president one has already stepped down.

I still think they have to report the same information that we do to the NCAA and accrediting agency. I could be wrong. Either way, it's a pretty flimsy argument that they get away with cheating because they are a private school. Miami and Syracuse are private schools. It didn't seem to help them.

1) I just linked an article. Nothing more nothing less.
2) Said article would be more trustworthy than a so/so tight end’s report.

1) I wasn't attacking you or @heelmanwilm -- I was just expressing a contrast in the general public outcry that Michigan State should automatically burn, even before all facts come out. So settle down and have a beer.

2) The Tweet he quoted wouldn't link. I should've provided more context. ESPN ran a headline saying "Tallahassee Police responded to an alleged domestic violence incident involving Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois on Tuesday evening." The headline was obvious click bait. The article went on to tell that basically the woman was the one at fault, and in fact, Francois was the one who called police because she was being disorderly.

Ebron was quoting the Tweet and provided a different version of what the headline should've been... a more factually accurate one.

My point in poasting that Tweet was just to show that it's not beyond ESPN (or Yahoo, or Bleacher Report, or SI) to exaggerate a story such as this to get clicks and because it's such a hot-button issue.

Cool story. I’ve had plenty of beers today. Thought you knew me better than that. Now watch this.

True, I believe they are also accredited by SACS.

As alluded to earlier, not being subject to the Freedom of Information Act is a nice perk.

Some interesting somewhat relevant tidbits in this article from back when they were covering up the sulaimon issues:

Sure it's a nice perk, but my point is that they can't cover up any type of NCAA cheating just because they aren't subject to FOIA.

Wasn't this whole AFAM thing unearthed when they were digging around after the Marvin Austin tweet? Wouldn't Duke have been able to prevent that digging around from occurring in the first place?

No, because all of the academic stuff is open for review since it could possibly fall under NCAA guidelines as well as accreditation guidelines. The only thing it would stop is the media wouldn't be able to investigate.

No. The NCAA was already on its way to Chapel Hill, regardless of that Tweet. But it was because of improper benefits from agents. But... since UNC open the doors wide open and let the NCAA have full reign, the AFAM stuff was discovered as well.

Hilariously (but not really), the NCAA reviewed the AFAM stuff and said it was fine -- no violations. But then, like 8 investigations later, they re-levied penalties against us because of the AFAM stuff, especially after the Weinstein investigation. Well, they tried to levy penalties anyway.
