OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

If we can grab Jordan Brown then we'll have 3 5star recruits in the same class for the first time since 2006 (which became the 09 natty).

If we opt for SKJ, you can almost count him as a 5 star coming in for 2 years in 2019.

I think I'd rather have SKJ. My reasons for this are as follows:

1 - Brown might fancy himself better than he is. He is not a OAD kid. IMO, no where close. But he might think he is or think he's close. And if he does, it might make coaching him more difficult. He might want to show his NBA chops when Roy just wants him to do this or that. SKJ will come in looking to play a role - any role after being in Cal's doghouse for 2 years. SKJ seems like he's ready to completely sellout for the program and do whatever Roy asks him to do.

2 - Age. I'd rather have a 22 year old junior than an 18 year old freshman. They're more mature, and most likely, better decision makers. And they usually are more competent in social settings which would most likely mean they're better teammates.

3 - Experience. SKJ would have played 2 years in the SEC and practiced 1 year in our system. Brown comes in completely cold.

4 - Humility. SKJ has been humbled by his experience. He'll understand he has top work hard. That's always a gamble with freshman.

5 - It would piss off UK fans to no end if SKJ came here and had a great last 2 years.

Plus, I kind of think maybe he always wanted to come here anyway and may have if not for the NCAA worries. Those are 5 really good points though, especially 1-3 in terms of projection.

Cripes, I thought he was kidding.

You have some poasts to delete.

Deleted the one in the daily scripture thread.

Honestly, I just don't get how that dude posts bible verse after bible verse each and every day. No one responds, and no one cares except him. Intoxicated me wanted to see if I could get a rise out of him. Again, stupid on my part.

I keep my personal faith private. Part of the reason why I'm not the biggest fans of Evangelicals.
That's fine. I was just trying to make a little joke. My main point was that people here might actually enjoy reading his posts. Most people here are religious to some extent. Don't ruin it for everyone you sourpuss.

It's also regional obviously.

North vs. South with the "how much do you care about religion" question is extremely different. I agree with CB34 that it's very odd that he does that everyday, but whatever, doesn't hurt me in anyway so I just ignore the thread.

Not true at all . . in the past, I have asked him to continue to post any scripture and I will read it from time to time.

I honestly cannot remember his first name at the moment( IIRC it's either Bobby or Jimmy), but, his last name I believe is Epps. It's also my recollection that he is or maybe wheelchair bound, but, I do know this, he is a lifetime Tar Heel fan, and I consider him a friend of mine . . !!!!!!!!!!!!

Robert Epps I think is his name, and IMHO, he's a really cool guy . . . . !

It was shitty on my part, Billy. As you probably read, I was drunk and a bit pissed off. I apologize.

So I'm guessing Cam's hip surgery means he's unlikely to be leaving. Wishing him a full and fast recovery and looking forward to seeing him light it up again next year.

Yeah...no combine = Cam coming back.

Kinda wish he had a completely healthy offseason though, he's been banged up for the better part of a year.

The estimated recovery time is 3 months so he should be good to go by the start of the season.

Yeah but the old adage is you don't get better during the season, you get better in the offseason.

3 months already puts him at mid-July.

So I was looking at the 2019 Mock Draft. Nas going 2nd was cool but what I found surprising was that Luke Maye was mentioned. No he wasn’t actually mocked as in getting drafted but after the last pick of the second round they had several names that could sneak in. Luke was mentioned second.

That just shows how far Maye has come. It was a joy to watch him play this season. I doubt he will get complacent due to the success he had this year. If anything, it will only motivate to work harder in the off-season and come in stronger for his senior year.

You make a good point, but I would be a little more concerned if either Brooks or Manley were the ones missing 3 months of the off-season. Yes, Cam has areas for improvement, but I still think he will play well for us next year despite missing some off-season work due to the injury,

Cam Johnson returning would be a huge help. The experience he brings is immeasurable. I'm always more optimistic when we have more seasoned juniors and seniors than 5* freshmen recruits.

I really hope that the big boys who will be sophomores are able to find their game and play to their full potential. We lacked a low post game this past season and I think if Bradley had stayed, we could have been back for a third final game in a row.

Agree with everything there.
