Please explain the logic here. Because I didn't attend UNC, I can't make fun of the academics of an entirely different school? That does not compute.
Make fun of a school's academics all you want. But don't say a rival school's player "can't read." Beyond just looking like a dick, you show zero awareness of the crap we just went through for 7 years. And you show zero awareness of the extremely embarrassing two DECADES of lack of academic oversight at UNC. So your insults of a rival player not being able to read seem kind of hollow.

I would think because I didn't go to UNC, I have even more of a leg to stand on in the academic debate. Nothing about my degree is in question whatsoever.

And the notion that another school's players can't be idiots because of what UNC went through is just bizarre.

It's not that hard of an argument to grasp. We've lived in a glass house for 7+ years. Don't throw stones.

We didn't. I didn't attend UNC. Therefore, like I said above, I feel no obligation to hold my tongue when making fun of the academics at School X or School Y.

We didn't. I didn't attend UNC.
I don't understand that at all. I didn't attend UNC either, but I conduct myself as if I had. We (as in fans who didn't attend the university) don't get to just celebrate the good and act like the bad doesn't apply to us just because we didn't attend. Hell, UNC means more to me than Appalachian State does. I've been a fan of UNC my entire life; App State has only been a part of me during a small portion of my life. That whole seven year period ate at me, and I felt it just as much as the people who actually did attend UNC felt it.

Thank you. Mr. coolwaterunc gets it.

Meh, then you and I clearly see things differently. Yes, as a UNC fan/non-alum, I absolutely get to have it both ways. I get to celebrate the greatness as a long time supporter without the backlash of the academic scandal effecting me whatsoever - because after all, I didn't go there. So in this scenario, I will indded have my cake and eat it too.

Neither is mine... what are you getting at here?

Nothing. Don't misunderstand my sentiments here. You were not part of the AFAM major at UNC so I'm sure your degree is legit. And frankly, I don't really have any beef with the AFAM department offering ridiculously easy classes. If that department wants to do that, then that's on them. It's an absurd major to begin with that can't really prepare students for the workforce anyway. But if I'm being pressed on having to act in some manner because I support the school as a non-alum, then I'll differentiate myself when needed..

Everyone's degree is legit because SASCS didn't discredit any classes. But carry on.

Right. So why do I need to hold my tongue when criticizing the academics of another school? Obviously, according to SACS, UNC is good.
Not being discredited =/= courses worthy of UNC (or any P5 school, really). Our College of Arts & Sciences effed up for 20+ years. We should probably chill on insulting Duke's sociology degrees and such.

A little of both. But I’d bet on the latter being the correct assumption.

I think this is a team that may struggle early, especially in the few games without JB, but could show improvement as the season goes on. Hopefullly, they will hit their peak around tournament time.

I’ve learned my lesson on doubting Roy. Had my medicine w that too many times. So I’m not going to discount this year but just going to enjoy the ride for what it is. JBII and Theophilus’ last hurrah!

I was the one who initially posted it. Never expected to set off the debate that's going on now.
I knew as soon as JBII didn't make the first team some of them would freak out. I never understood why people get so upset about preseason polls. They're nice to look at, but they don't give out trophies for them.
