Dude, just stop. You can't dig your way out of a hole.I've always said on here I wish more of the "common folks" were accepted to UNC.

I can try.Dude, just stop. You can't dig your way out of a hole.
Well it is elite, which benefits those of us who were lucky enough to earn a degree there. If it weren't elite, would you have worked so hard to get in after initially being rejected? Would you have worked so hard to get in grad school there? You can't have it both ways, my friend.Right or wrong, UNC purports an aura/stereotype of being elitist....
Being elite in reputation and prestige is a good thing. A great thing. I'm talking about acting elite... as in elitism, as in holier-than-thou / The Carolina Way, etc. There's a difference.Well it is elite, which benefits those of us who were lucky enough to earn a degree there. What about when we play UNC-C?You're making me want to root against UNC in the upcoming App State football series right now. I don't like this.
I have no ties to UNC-C.What about when we play UNC-C?
Dammit. I thought you finished up your grad program there or something.I have no ties to UNC-C.
Wonder why? I'm assuming it's due to grades since the suspension is from the university and not the team. If I remember correctly, didn't he have some academic issue in high school as well?.....and felton has been suspensed. Tell me again theres no chemistry problems with this team.
Tell me this isn't turning into the 2009-2010 season :/Wonder why? I'm assuming it's due to grades since the suspension is from the university and not the team. If I remember correctly, didn't he have some academic issue in high school as well?

Grades are the one thing that can never be talked about by the school. Parents can't even be told about students grades without the consent of the student. It could be an issue with the law, but usually something like that leaks out before it gets to the point of being suspended. Regardless, it's bad news.If it were grades wouldn't the university be able to say that? The whole federal privacy thing has me thinking it's something to do with breaking the law of some kind.
Nah, I'm just giving you shit. No worries, it didn't ruffle my feathers. In some ways you're right, as I would have loved to go to UNC, but I didn't bother wasting my time applying. I wouldn't trade my time at App for anything though. I absolutely loved it there.Seriously though, @coolwaterunc I meant no offense to you or anyone else. School is school. You can get a great education at Pembroke and a worthless education at UVA. It all depends on how you apply yourself and what you make of your academic studies. Case in point, you have a great job from your undergrad degree and I have nothing to show for my undergrad degree so I had to go back to school.
I was simply saying I think it's a cop out to say UNC-Chapel Hill is ''serving the state'' with its current strict entrance requirements and letting the other 16 UNC-System schools pick up the slack.
My apologies.
It's an extremely childish reaction by Donald Williams, to be quite honest.
I'm actively saying in this thread I wish Carolina would drop their standards and fall down the USNWR (or whatever) rankings a bit. I've always said on here I wish more of the "common folks" were accepted to UNC.
My preferred solution would be for Carolina to expand. That way, you can take more elite students and take more students from the other end of the acceptance spectrum. UNC is way too small, and it's going to create long-term repercussions in the state. I'm not just talking sports. NC State's alumni base will absolutely dwarf UNC's soon. The schools are vastly different sizes.I hope neither of these things happen. Not that I really have anything against these "common folks" getting accepted, just that them doing so would lead to the former happening.
Wonder why? I'm assuming it's due to grades since the suspension is from the university and not the team. If I remember correctly, didn't he have some academic issue in high school as well?
UNC has slightly less than 19,000 undergrad students and slightly under 30k total. Moo has about 24,500 undergrad and about 34k total. I'm not sure that qualifies as vastly different. I'm not sure what exactly you mean by long-term repercussions either. My preferred solution would be for Carolina to expand. Wow. That number for State is way lower than I thought. I thought they were up to 40,000.UNC has slightly less than 19,000 undergrad students and slightly under 30k total. Good question. I guess Platek would, but there aren't really any good options with Seventh out.Who plays point if JB needs a rest, has foul trouble, gets hurt? Theo? Platek?
Here's a question. If he get's kicked out, does the one year transfer rule still apply?Yea i jumped the gun. He was suspended by the school not the team. Someone researched and found no pending legal stuff so that leaves school policy violations. Most likely grades since last term grades would have just posted. . If so hes done for the season
It can still be legal. It just hasn't shown up on the court dockets yet. Honor code?Ppl saying if it was grades for felton woulda been announced earlier and woulda been a team suspension. Since no legal issues pending wtf does that leave?
This day can go straight to hell
That doesn't make sense. The school could absolutely suspend him because of grades. I know several people who have been suspended because of grades.Ppl saying if it was grades for felton woulda been announced earlier and woulda been a team suspension. I think what @heelmanwilm is saying is that the suspension already would've happened before now if it was grades. The new semester started like 2+ weeks ago. He would've been suspended after the fall term ended. That doesn't make sense. The school could absolutely suspend him because of grades. I guess that's true. That was just the first thing that came to mind since he has issues in high school. There is nothing in the system about criminal charges and I doubt the university would suspend someone without being charged. Roy would though. Not sure what other reason it could be.I think what @heelmanwilm is saying is that the suspension already would've happened before now if it was grades. The new semester started like 2+ weeks ago. Good post. Especially #3. The value of college is overrated in my opinion.1 - I'm sorry for Donald Williams' daughter and I'm sorry he has uncomfortable feelings toward his alma mater now. And most of all, I'm sorry he considers himself "wolfpack" now. I'm also shocked that his daughter didn't get in. Williams is a hero in Carolina lore.
2 - Carolina's enrollment is roughly 85% in-state students. How is that not "serving its people"? Furthermore, Carolina is an elite school. Not everybody gets in. What's the big deal? I agree that more emphasis should be put on the "whole" applicant and not just their high school academic achievements. If I was in admissions, community service, work history and other extracurriculars would be weighted more significantly for me.
3 - Regarding college achievement as a whole, I think it's a load of crap. I've never hired anyone because of where they went to college. And if an applicant has the audacity to put their GPA on their resume, I probably won't consider them at all. And that's for several reasons, most notably, if you think your gpa is in anyway applicable to the job you're applying for with me, then you're not as bright as your gpa would suggest. Show me some real world experience and I'll be impressed.
4 - So Felton has been suspended? Not really a shocker for me. He just doesn't get it. On the surface, it appears that he and his uncle couldn't be any more different. Ray was willing to work. Jalek appears to want things handed to him. This is not good. If Seventh were available and ready, I wouldn't really care. Put Jalek in the doghouse and hope he gets his shit together before next year. But Woods injury complicates things. As I've said a number of times now, I think Roy needs to consider Theo as the "back up PG".
Very overrated. Also... speaking of resumes, can we please get like an official U.S. resume format?? It's very annoying that different industries have different resume format expectations. For some industries, it's always one page, no exceptions. With other industries, it's fine or even encouraged to go on to a second page. Some industries want your GPA listed; some do not. Some want you to list some hobbies and interests. Others do not. It becomes quite tedious.Good post. Especially #3. The value of college is overrated in my opinion.
Right now he's only Second or Third Woods :/Speaking of Seventh, is there an update on him anywhere? Seems like there's been a whole lot of nothing. I'm assuming that means zero progress on his injury?
