OOTB Carolina Basketball Discussion Thread

I thought overall Barrett and Little were the best players, with Naz Reid and Langford close behind. Romeo could end up being better than all of them Both Barreett and Little were pretty fiery and competitive though.

Reddish and Jones were also good and will be tough next year. Zion is about what I thought he was. I've said before I think he'll struggle on the next level.

I thought Coby looked fine. His shot looked good to me, on line every time but just missed a few. He was explosive and got to the rim but just didn't finish, which is uncharacteristic for him.

I also think the Johnson kid going to UK is going to be a player for them.

Langford really stood out to me.

I was trying to remember which other Tar Heels won (or shared) MVP of the McDonald's game, and so I looked it up and prior to Little, we have had 6 players win it. Four of the winners ended up with their jerseys in the rafters, (J.R. Reid, Jerry Stackhouse, Harrison Barnes, Justin Jackson), another one (James Michael McAdoo) was a two time 2nd team All ACC selection before being a two time NBA champ, and the last one led us to victory over Auburn in the 2001 Peach Bowl (Ronald Curry).

Paging Fedora ...

I'd just like to go on record and say that I became a big fan of Nas Little and a believer in his potential the exact moment he committed to play at UNC. Not sure where that puts me on the fan bandwagon ranking list but it must be pretty high up there.
@gteeitup is getting on G7 and his issue about that ranking list. Maybe you can get him to bump you up a few spots.

Ben & Jerry's is reaching out to the N.C. State crowd.

Little does appear to have that "Edginess" and he seems to possess that skill level like you see in players like Trent, Jr. and Bagley III. They're NBA-ready, basically.

I love Coby's haircut, too.

I get to pick his avatar, I will begin taking suggestions from the board starting... Now.
I've got a few ideas off the top of my head:

Something representing moo u
Coach k
Hillary Clinton
Something supporting open borders
Kevin Costner

Just for the record, I'm still confident that Nas is not OAD. C'mon Roy, don't disappoint me.

Ya, I dunno. I may be on your side of this wager.

I mean, Nas would be OAD if he attended pretty much any other school. He's certainly talented enough to be OAD. He will almost certainly be the most talented and "the best" player on our roster next year, he should start, and get 30+ minutes a night to showcase himself to those NBA teams that are picking in the lottery. He should be OAD.

But, Roy gonna Roy and he has no problem having talent sit... so Nas might not get the burn needed to show that he deserves to be OAD.

Bradley got drafted in the first round and didn't even get 15 mpg. Nas will get 20-25. If he's not OAD, it will be because he ended up not performing up to expectations. It won't be because of Roy.

Glad to have you on my side. But one quibble - he should not start and get 30 minutes a game to "showcase himself". If he's good enough, then he should start and play 30 minutes per game because Roy has determined it's what's best for the team. His auditioning for the NBA can be on his own time.

Or maybe that he just wants to be in school for another year. But frankly, the more I watch Nas, the more I think I'm losing this bet. I don't even think Roy could hold Nas back enough to keep him out of the lottery. I think Nas would have to be Jalek Felton level bad for him to fall out of next year's lotto. IMO, he could do very little on the court during the season and still be a lottery pick just based on his measurables. He'll test extremely well at the combine.

But I'm holding out hope that Nas buys in on the highest level and feels compelled to be here more than one year. And I think there's a possibility of that. Unless he explodes, he won't be considered a higher pick than Barnes was after his freshman year (I believe Barnes was slotted 3-4 in most mocks after his freshman year). And Barnes turned it down. For whatever reason (unfinished business, camaraderie with teammates, love of college life, etc) Barnes felt compelled to come back. Nas could too.

This ^^^

Plus let's not forget this guy was going to Arizona before the FBI scandal broke. Anyone think he was going there to stay more than a year? Roy could not play him at all, he'd still be OAD. Top 20 guys barely come back for a second year, who was the last top 5 guy? Oh shit probably Barnes... Still though, he gone.
